Title: What porcs are at the Seacoast?
Post by: dalebert on January 15, 2008, 10:31 PM NHFT
How many porcs are living in the seacoast region? I'm considering whether I might want to live in Seabrook, comfortably close to Portsmouth but not uncomfortably IN it. One thing I like about Manchester is that there are a lot of porcs nearby so there were plenty of people that became instant friends when I moved here. Unfortunately, it's nearly the only thing I like about Manchester. Perhaps it's enough but...

As you probably know Max is getting a place in Seabrook. I would just look for a place right in Portsmouth.  When I was considering P. I found (some) adds for reasonable rents.  Portsmouth is a really nice town. Brick sidewalks, old colonial buildings, lots of water and nice restaurants.  My favorite is The Friendly Toast

Brendan Kelly, chair of the LPNH lives in Seabrook. Dave Mincin lives near the seacoast somewhere. Jim & Michelle Dumas live in Summersworth.  Michelle worked really hard to get the FSP to NH, but, has been out of the loop for a while.  They have a seacoast porc meeting every month that should be on a calender, somewhere.

Max has been very good as a tenant. He made a real good stir fry tonight for dinner, and has been well ahead on rent payments.

He does like to argue a bit, and his humor is somewhat hard to decode.

Seabrook is very different from Portsmouth. It is a nice quiet place.
There must be many porcs that have moved to the seacoast, but I never hear from them. I met a family that moved into Portsmouth at a party, but I never saw them again. They must not post on forums or show up at parties outside of their area.
Check it all out for us Dale and give us a report and a cartoon. ;)

We just started a new Meetup Group here on the Seacoast (see Suzanne's post: http://nhunderground.com/forum/index.php?topic=12746.0).  Our first meeting was last night in Dover at Kelly's Row.  There are a few FSP there, native NH FSP supporters, etc.

Last night being our first meeting we had a great turn out (roughly 21 people including kids).  We had folks from Barrington, Dover, Rochester, Portsmouth, Manchester and Somersworth show up.

Congrats! We need more people having more meetings. Taproom Tuesday here in Manchester has been wildly successful, as has Social Sunday in Keene.

that was one of the major thoughts behind this; the west side of the state and central part of the state are covered; we just need to get the seacoast (done!) and the north country...

It was great meeting some new people and meeting up with friends at Kelly's Row the other night.  I'm not really a porc or a native.  I moved to Somersworth in 2002, then signed up as a friend of the free state after I learned about it.  I've found that some of the nicest folks I know are free staters, and you throw some of the best parties.

Parties rock ;). I plan on moving to the seacoast myself because I need water and some kind of culture/nightlife. I'm from the west coast I'd be bored to tears living in the northern or western parts of the state!

OK, Max got the house - closing was last Thursday. The place is in perfect condition and I'll be managing it for him while he's away. The kitchen is now stocked with everything needed to cook meals, and I'll be moving in basic furniture to make it reasonably comfortable. One room for rent will be furnished, 2 others will be BYOF.

All the current details will be posted over at PorcManor.com here: http://porcmanor.com/residence/seabrook_wooded_privacy

The Toast really is great! The decor is totally a trip! I think it's open 24-7, too. Portsmouth is a great clubbin' town because you can park once and walk to every bar and club from there. It's all just 17 miles from Max's new house.

This forum is mostly made up of people associated with the Free State Project (http://freestateproject.org if you don't know what it is.)  The mascot of the Free State Project is the porcupine - since it is a creature that's harmless unless you mess with it too much.  So we refer to ourselves as porcupines or just porcs for short.

If you are interested in learning more, you might go to Gunstock Campground, in Guilford, buy a day pass, next week (9 thru 15, 15th being packing up day ) and meet Porcs from across the country.  The FSP is celebrating its 5th Porcfest.  Porcs will be camping all week in the area of Poplar Fields, I think. The biggest day will be on Saturday.

Hey everyone,

I waited to move to NH before I got on this forum.  I just moved my wife and children to Hampton Beach.  We're in a little cozy 2 story loft apartment right on the beach and it's so nice being in NH right on the beach.  I have to decide where in NH to move to after my lease is over in late May.  I came before lining up a job.  I've been e-mailing my resume all over and hopefully next week I can nail something down either permanent or temporary.  I'm going to be going to school for a masters degree at SNHU starting later this month. Are there any social gatherings on the seacoast? My wife is a stay at home mom and I have three small children aged 19 months, 3 and a half and almost 5.

do you have employment yet? i can probably hook up, i work at a collection agency, not the best job ever, but not the worst either, and TONS of room for advancement out of actual collections and into other areas of the company. it pays alright, and there are people who come from hampton every day, so if you needed to carpool you could probably do that. my husband, jared (also on the board) both work there.
