Title: Early movers expecting a baby soon and need advice please.
Post by: Henry on February 01, 2008, 10:35 AM NHFT
Hi,

Anyone know of a good midwife or a "country-type" doctor who delivers babies? We moved to the Laconia/Gilmanton area and now expecting our first child in a few months and would like to begin making arrangements outside the McHospital environment, especially after learning the truth about vaccines and the reasons why the majority of doctors refuse to have their children vaccinated. Also hospitals often apply for a SS number regardless of the parent's wishes, which we're not going to do - that will be the child's decision someday. Furthermore, they tend to separate the child and mother in the first few hours after birth, which is the most important time in the entire life of the parent/child relationship. So if you have any suggestions for a qualified and educated midwife, or small clinic recommendations we'd love to hear them!

Thanks!
Glenda and Henry

On a related topic, I have been tossing around the idea with my wife and a doctor friend about opening up a natural birthing center in New Hampshire. Any thoughts on the market demand for such a facility?

I'm done with the need for a birthing center, but if they combined it with common sense family medicine, and a cash discount, we'll be clients.

My wife and I just had our 2nd in Nov. at the birth cottage (http://www.birthcottage.com/) in milford.  Our Midwife was Natanya Champney, who was apprenticed to the midwives at milford, but moved at the beginning of this year to the north country, near the white mountains.
Her website is http://asitwasmidwifery.com/ (http://asitwasmidwifery.com/)

All midwives have been forced to report all births to the state/fed authorities. Your newborn baby will be recorded, documented and assigned a SSN.

If have questions concerning the vax issue feel free to email me.

good luck!  :)

You could always give a fake name, pay in cash and abscond with your child before any identifying characteristics could be recorded.

Wow, that's hardcore. We don't have to do that in Ohio yet.

Congratulations on the new baby.

I don't know how they did it.  But I know there are several babies born to Freestaters in NH and those babies don't have SSN's.

If you have a midwife and homebirth delivery, some states (I am unsure which ones) give a parent the option to wait to apply for a ssn but the birth is still reported to state and feds. I am interested to know how the states dictate this process. Other states, the midwife is held accountable to report the birth and a ssn is assigned.

Thanks everyone for the responses and the research. I'll continue following up on them. If anyone has had a child here I'd really like to get in touch!

Despite the SSA saying it isn't necessary I know of someone close who had a child back in California, who isn't aware of these issues discussed on these forums, and the child was automatically given the number and she was also told that if they didn't give all the vaccines at that time that they would take the baby away from her.

MengerFan, how did you swing the insurance, and is the child still an infant if you don't mind me asking?

Where was she delivered (home. hospital etc) and who provided the service?
She may not have a ssn but I would bet she is "bonded" at the state and fed level and recorded specifically at The Bureau of Vital Statistics under the Dept of Commerce.

Henry, Here is the NH vaccination exception status:
It even states that you do not have to sign the birth certificate but I would bet my buttom dollar you would have quite a battle trying to opt out. It is only mu opinion that every newborn is reported on record whether it gets an ssn or not.....unless you have your baby in complete privacy.

Thanks Kola and everyone. This has been helpful. I now know the law, have the exemption forms, know I need a "birthing plan," and am confident of dodging the number in NH at this time. It's sad that today I think it would be a handicap for the child to not get a birth certificate. Have you ever heard of someone not having even the birth certificate here?

She is a year old next week. I don't have any secrets or anything. I just told thee bank and insurance company she has no SSN.

Because of complications during the delivery, she was unfortunately born in a hospital. We were pretty much a nightmare for the hospital employees, though not intentionally. They couldn't understand why we didn't want our newborn to have a Hepatitis shot or any other such nonsense. Every time they brought the government paperwork in, I told them they would have to contact our attorney.

A few people I know who have had deliveries at that hospital have told me that the nurses still tell stories about it and that we are the strangest people they have ever met. For those of you who have met me, perhaps you might corroborate that sentiment.

You don't need a birth certificate to survive in this society yet, but you do need some kind of documentation. I would suggest speaking with your attorney to draw up some identification papers and have them witnessed along with fingerprints and such - essentially a private birth certificate. You can also get a certificate from you church, if you have one. These types of documentation are even accepted by government agencies should your child ever decide to opt into the system.

Mengerfan,

Good for you!

I commend you.

If it is ok with you, I would like to speak with you more in detail (PM or another way)

I will also understand if you refuse... to protect your privacy etc.

btw I know people who (exist, survive and thrive) in todays world without "papers".

That definitely varies from state to state.  Pennsylvania and North Carolina have no such requirement for forced vaccinations (although public school kids may be required to have some of them).  As a homeschool parent I have to keep vaccination records but that doesn't mean I have to have them vaccinated.

Skipping ahead to the happy arrival, have you considered disposable vs. cloth diapers?  Breast feeding vs formula?  Store-bought baby food vs. making your own?  We went the lower impact route on these issues so if you have questions about that stuff feel free to PM me if you want.

You are incorrect. There is NO LAW FORCING vaccinations although the nazi SOB's lie to the common folk. ALL states have exemption status. Public school kids (or daycare) are NOT required to have ANY vaccines.

The NOA (Nazis of Amerika) have fooled 95% of the public...and thry continue to lie and bully commonfolk when it concerns  the vaccine issue.

The vaccine issue is the biggest government scam going... right behind the illegal income tax scam.

Anyone know of a good midwife or a "country-type" doctor who delivers babies?

Here you go -- a list and map of NH Homebirth Midwives.... I see a couple of them are in your area

http://www.nhmidwives.org/find.html

Sherry Stevens in Meredith has a great reputation, but to be honest, I know several of these women and have never meet a "bad" homebirth midwife. I also run a breastfeeding support group and talk to new moms and other support group leaders in NH and ME all the time and have never heard a bad word about any homebirth midwife in NH.

The local hospital, Lakes Region General, is private with some government support as it is required by law not to refuse medically necessary service. If one choses to have a child birthed there they will be given the necessary paperwork to apply for SSN and birth certificate filing. Some opt for, others refuse. I would guess the largest problem being the options are not explained.
