Title: Breaking Bad
Post by: dalebert on February 10, 2008, 10:02 PM NHFT
Three episodes so far. You can catch up on http://amctv.com and I highly recommend that you do. This show is fantastic so far. It's about a nerdy white father who discovers he has inoperable lung cancer and decides to make crystal meth to save up money for his family.

I watched the first two episodes when I heard about it on the petmeats forum. It's a fascinating show, but I don't know where they are going to go with it. What did you think of the third episode?

I met a woman with a terminal illness a few years ago who did something similar.
I watched this show for the first time at someones urging since I dont own a tv,
and it reminded me of her.

I've been blown away by all three episodes, frankly. I just think the show is fantastic. The third might be my favorite so far. I was literally on the edge of my seat wondering what he was going to do. I could say more but I don't want to spoil it.

It's way too over-simplified to say that it's just more serious, although I think that's a true statement. It's got a lot of comic moments but it's not pure comedy. It's actually creating a pretty bizarre situation and somehow makes it believable because the writing and acting are so good. It definitely seems to have something to say about drug prohibition. There's a DEA agent in it that just comes across like an obnoxious buffoon.

OK, screw it then. I want to see it then.                        Then.

It's serious as in believable, which makes for some interesting content when it's about a chemist that cooks meth.
