Title: Anti-war Rally, 15 March 2008
Post by: Puke on February 27, 2008, 02:43 PM NHFT
I've heard that there is a planned anti-war rally March 15th 2008 in Keene from 10 am to Noon.
I don't know who is organizing it; I was contacted about possibly speaking on behalf of Iraq Veterans Against the War. I'll post more about it when I find out.

Keene:
Peace March and Rally to mark the 5th anniversary of the unjustified invasion of Iraq, and 5 years of a bloody, costly, and counter-productive occupation.  Assemble at 10:00 am at the Main Street entrance to Keene State College for the procession to Central Square and the rally from 11:00 to noon. A strong showing will our let our leaders know that, despite the pressures of everyday living, real people have not forgotten this extended conflict, and we want our troops withdrawn swiftly and safely. No. This is a small rally of probably a hundred people. America isn't that bad yet.

Also, by tanks I suspect you mean armored personnel carriers. There is a difference.

The first video is a Stryker armored combat vehicle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker)

They could have just been driving by, from base to base. It isn't unusual to see Army vehicles on the road when you live near a base. It is rather coincidental, but they weren't engaging the protesters.

The second video was shit, so it's hard to tell. I only saw a couple of armored vehicles. Mostly fucking pigs beating people in LA. Not bloody likely to happen here in March.

This is a tank.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank)

QuoteA tank is a tracked armoured combat vehicle designed to engage enemies head-on, using direct and indirect fire from a large-calibre gun and supporting fire from machine guns.

Sorry, but I have to nit-pick military stuff and monumental paranoia.

The rally sounds good, except for the part about spending money at home on "human needs."  What crap; too bad the leftists have to co-opt a good thing like a peace march with a call for more force at home via taxation.

I'm going to go to the march at ten which starts at the entrance arch to KSC.
Sometime after that I'll give my speech. There is a planning meeting Tuesday that I plan to go to.

While we are on it, anyone have any good ideas for what I should talk about?
Or a good website with statistics about the war?

I heard today that the war is costing about 12 billion a month! Holy fuck!

if anyone has something to add ... send it along.
I like putting articles on the Free Press website, because it easier for outsiders to access than all of these threads on the forum. We sent the link along to fellow peacenics in NH to use or add to. :)

That was a decent speech Puke .... especially for someone that doesn't relish public speaking.

Puke,

Your speech was marvelous. You put forth your experiences and viewpoint in a way which will make it difficult for all but the zealous supporters of the war to dismiss. This should resonate with so many who are unsure of their thoughts/feelings on Iraq, but are not sure how to express it without being labeled as hating the men and women who serve.

My dad (a veteran), is one of those. He doesn't trust the government on much of anything - drug war, meddling with the economy, foreign policy, personal privacy, losses of freedom, you name it. Iraq is the one subject he won't discuss.

I'm sending him your speech.

No one debated me on my thoughts or anything like that. Probably b/c I didn't get too anti-gov on them. Just planting seeds with this one.

paranoid Kola?    yur close to coming off my christmas list!  :-\

Anyway  ;) It must have been a very small non-violent crowd...and no threat to the POLE-LEASE so they let you off easy.

Now, a "violent?" crowd has lots AND LOTS of people with megaphones, chanting, drumming and making a lot of good noise and energy. They are a THREAT to the POLE-LEASE. Many of these "violent?" crowds have paticipants over the age of 60. Many carry signs on wooden sticks which could be used in "violence". Some of these "violent" crowd protesters choose to lay in the street and refuse to move even when pepper sprayed. Wow, sounds very "violent". Some of these "violent" crowds do not acknowledge the presence of the POLE-LEASE (aka gestapo/ss agents). I have even seen some of these "violant" protestors carry water bottles and these could possibly use them to injure the POLE-LEASE.

These "violent?" revolution people want change but I beleive the large majority of them (if not all of them) are not blood thirsty...including myself.

OTOH maybe our forefathers knew what they were doing. :)

Oops, I just watched Lauren's video. Forgot about that.
Anyway, great job, as always. I really like the images you placed over my little blurb about the military.
That's the kind of awful shit that happens, not the cool stuff shown in recruitment videos.

Puke, a week ago from saturday, I gave your card to a lady from the weekly anti war rally on the square, she really liked your speech.  I believe she wanted to get a hold of you.  She was shocked by the doomsday photogragy web address.   ;D

Hmm...I'm surprised that some folks  be "shocked" by it. I just thought the name sounded cool.
I also love the Bond type villains that always get ahold of the doomsday device. It cracks me up.
