I am thinking of starting a Free State D&D campaign :P
If I can get enough people, I will be willing to DM and generally provide the material necessary for having a game. I have been playing D&D for about 10 years now, and I have about four years world building and DMing experience. I play by 3.5 rules as a default, and make any adjustments necessary that everyone can agree on before the campaign is started.
Before I commit to anything more, would anyone be interested in this?
No takers?
:(
Where?
I wouldn't be able to make it to the seacoast, but Concord might be ok.
Just noticed which forum this was posted in.
I'm in. What about Dale? I think he might have mentioned something before.

Yeah, Jesse already knows I'm in but I meant to post something here so people know this is in fact starting to come together! I'm a big ole nerd.
I'm not the RPG nerd type. Sorry.

excellent in the roll of=Man who is ignoring
all you irritating game players . ;D
If you count being a soldier for 6 years LARPing...
Otherwise, no god dammit!
:pout:
I'd like to tag along and hang out with y'all. I used to play D&D maybe 20-25 years ago, but haven't touched it since.

I've never played, but I'm interested...
I did play Warhammer for several years. WIsh I had the time to get back into painting the models.
That's pretty nerd-riffic.

You're not a true nerd until you've played World of Warcraft until 4am for a raid with your guild and have to call in sick the next day, during which you get on and play some more to farm so you can afford your epic mount.

Yeah, that's just crazy. :-\
So Dale and 41mag are in. Anyone else?
You're looking for people to play, but just to remind you: I'm up for hanging out while you play. Or, if you're really patient and desperate to get one more player, I'll give it a shot (but I'll probably play like a retarded 4-year-old turtle). When and where?
Do you have any detail on when and where this will be?

Are there retarded turtles?
How do you tell?

I want to get 4-5 people playing in the campaign. So far, it is you, Dale, Tim, and possibly another guy. If he's down for it (which I'll know by tomorrow), I'll give you the time, date, and place. I'd like to hopefully get started this week/-end, and have it go on a bi-weekly basis.
It's a bit of a trip for me (Grafton area), so weekends would work a bit better.
Alright. Tentatively, our games will be held at "Comic Boom" in Keene. I spoke with the owner of the store, and free of charge he will let us use the space there to hold our games. I haven't secured a date yet that would work best for all, but Sunday seems to work for the owner, and will probably aim for around 1 PM for our games.
More info to come over the next two days.

I know, I know, but that would either mean late on Saturdays or maybe even late on Fridays.
I need to talk to Corey, the owner again about best times, but otherwise, we'll be holding it there.
Just so I fully understand, you would be gaming in the Monadnock/Keene area? Right? At Vendetta?

Yes, in Keene, but not at Vendetta. There is a comic books shop literally a minutes walk from it called "Comic Boom" where I'll be using the table space.

QuoteMilitary simulation
Military simulation (mil-sim) LARPs focus on military operations, often in modern or futuristic settings. Many include live combat with laser tag, airsoft or paintball markers. Some mil-sims have a hard-core approach and attention to detail that resembles police exercises or war games conducted by the military. Players may take on combat roles or play non-combatants such as civilians or VIPs.
Looks like those field training exercises are considered a form of LARP. I've played a paintball version of a combat LARP game. When I started out I used a lot of paint using the spray-and-pray method, but as I learned more about combat, I changed my tactics. I started using concealment and cover to my advantage and would wait for my opponents to get close enough for me to have a sure shot, then I would usually hit them with 2 paintballs. The first time I got a guy with 2 paintballs on the lens of his mask from about 8 feet away was priceless. Those were fun times. It's been years since I last played.

Liar! I bet I can walk there in 30 seconds from Vendetta!
By the way, when is the first play-date? This Sunday, September 28?

Shit, didn't see this till today.
No, not today. I think the second weekend of November will be a good start, so everyone can properly be set up before we go.
Doh! I forgot about this. It was going to be today. Did it happen? If not, are y'all still interested?
It didn't happen. Jesse procrastinated with some stupid literature lesson about Thoreau and Civil Disobedience in the Keene Central Square. ;)
