We have a How to host a Murder game. I thought it would be fun to have some people over at the Hoyt Farm (or our new name Animal Farm) and play it. Eight people can play and we need five more to play. So if anyone would like to come and play sign up. We will do this sometime after new years. When we have eight people i will set the specific date.
Date has been set for January 17th. -Kat
I would be happy to play a roll in your game.
I feel myself most qualified because several of the personalities in side my head are actors... or at least think they are.
If it takes place on a weekend, I'd be interested in participating. I don't know how to play; I assume instruction would be provided.

That's great; the voices can help you learn your lines! :)
This sounds fun. Should I work on my english accent?

I can understand why Dale hasn't posted that image, himself.
A while back, we held one of these as a dinner party, and had a great time. Since each of them is a 'one-time' play (once you know the murderer, you can't replay it), if someone else would like this one, I'd be glad to pass it on. I've bought a half dozen of these via goodwill-type stores (the others are sitting on my shelves, waiting for other planned parties). The one I'm passing is a western themed one.
That's cool. Maybe we could pass them around.

Works for me!
It was Colonel Mustard, in the firepit, with the Porcupine brand!! (just practicing)
It was the Berzerker Babe in the driveway with a Subaru.
It was Tom Sawyer, on the picnic table, with a chainsaw.
It was Facilitator, in the yard, with his falling body weight.
It was Kardinal Kanning, in the haunted house, with a crozier. :cardinal:

I'd love to play. Am I too late? Am I dead? Did someone already kill me? Can I figure out who it was? Am I talking to myself? Is that bad?
I think I have already been cut out.
One way to play this kind of game is have more than one person play each part.
I have played this particular style game, but most people will be new to it, so the newbies will not get left behind or anything.
It's taking place at the Animal Farm on Saturday, the 17th of January! Just to add to the fun, this will be a pot luck affair; feel free to post what you're going to bring.
The Players for this party are:
Frankenstein
Ms. Jailbird
The Social Butterfly
A Very Radical Teen
She Who Wasted Her Youth
The Kat House Madam
Cardinal Canning
The Libertine

Big Magnum 41
Auwe!! I just remembered why Russell said there were too many people. Mag41 was one of the original guests, so now we have one too many. I've volunteered to exit this party, and will be on hand for support and additional fun!
Ugh! Is it feasible to add a character? If it was obvious which character was not added by the original game, then it would be obvious that character was not the murderer. But if the games works by selecting a random character to be murderer, then maybe we could just keep adding characters. Or maybe we can tweak the game to work for us.
Also, if we are one person too many, I think the last person to join should be the first person out, and I think that's me. I'd still like to participate, somehow, though. Maybe I could be a cop - I wouldn't affect the actual murder party, but I could add some "flavor" to the evening by being a Keystone Cop or something.
I think the position of "voyeur" is open.
i was reading the rule book and it said you can add a privet detective. we could play by the rules or make up our own characters. Either way i think we should play in costume.

(most of the games have these descriptions online thanks to the interweb: http://www.boardgames.com/howtohosmurg.html)

Or something warm for the snow wrestling?
How about coming as a Shire Character or something Radical_Teen assigns?

Okay, I'm stepping in here, at least as far as the food is concerned. ;D This event will be a potluck affair so everyone can plan for that, although we've not yet been informed as to the actual time of dinner. I'll do my best to conspire with Radical Teen tomorrow so that she can get the rest of the information out for the actual party.
If you could post your dish, then we'll be sure to have a well rounded menu. I'll be making a pate and crackers, both raw. And for brave or foolish souls, I can break out my first batch of homebrew! (It's a basic recipe, and I made a lot of mistakes, but it's beer :D )

Well, in all seriousness, I don't know if I'll be able to bring a dish. I'm working Friday, have plans for Friday night, it's a 2+ hour drive to Grafton (I've never tried it during snow season before), and we still don't know what time this event is starting. The game is on regardless, and there were a few of us who didn't have regular characters so we can just step in to fill the 'real' characters.
Kira is juicing, so she won't be 'eating' at all. Kat and I are raw, but Kat's the only pure one as I occasionally fall off the wagon for Annie's macaroni and cheese or pizza! Russell is a good eater, mixing our raw and his cooked foods as he feels like it. John's not here at the moment. As for what to bring to eat, we'll all make sure we have the sort of food we like, and you should just bring something you like, and we'll all share as it delights us. It's all good, it's potluck!
Made me think of this song...
Didn't realize it was about the guy's dads experiences in Vietnam.
Rooster
Alice in Chains
Aint found a way to kill me yet
Eyes burn with stinging sweat
Seems every path leads me to nowhere
Wife and kids household pet
Army green was no safe bet
The bullets scream to me from somewhere
Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he aint gonna die
No, no, no, ya know he aint gonna die
Walkin tall machine gun man
They spit on me in my home land
Gloria sent me pictures of my boy
Got my pills gainst mosquito death
My buddys breathin his dyin breath
Oh God please wont you help me make it through
Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he aint gonna die
No, no, no ya know he aint gonna die

Yes ... and all the characters will be used plus at least one extra.
I am not in charge of food ... I am just authorized to eat some.
Kira is drinking just juice. so you can bring apples or oranges
Kat and Teri are eating almost everthing raw. they eat anything that fits in a salad
Lauren eats most things ... just keep them seperate :)
Jim, Mike, and I eat most things.
I think they are making the main dish from the game. I bet if you brought stuph that fits in a salad, the would appreciate it. Since Dale isn't coming you could always bring muffins and we can compare them. Since it will be about -1 at gametime, I can always use soup or hot chocolate. :) Hopefully the train will run smoothly.

Just want to confirm that this game is definitely on for tomorrow at 5:00PM? It looks like there are a few characters that remain unclaimed. Is the game on regardless?
If those-who-do-not-eat-various-foods could give me some idea of what you *do* eat, I'd appreciate it.
Yes, which ones are unclaimed?
Swash buckling resistance fighter or High society fashion mogul. Kira gets the one you don't want, 41.

No one wanted a resistance fighter? Ok, I'll take it.

Don't try to feed those of us who don't eat 'normal' food. :) That should make it easier. Your shrimp idea was fine.
We're used to fending for ourselves at parties when we're eating this way. Don't stress about it. :)
I think Lloyd should be Perry Mason.

ordering pizza is my only way to plan meals :)
Weather report isn't looking too good. :-\ If I don't make it up there, Teri can be the princess.

Wha-HUH? It's gorgeous outside - completely blue sky, sunny day, -3F (in Derry). The Grafton forecast says a high of 12F and partly cloudy today, 60% chance of snow showers tonight, and 26F and 3 to 5 inches of Snow on Sunday.
That's too much? You'll never earn your brass balls
that way! :)
I hope you make it tonight.

Oh, that's just what Animal Farm needs, me behaving like a princess! :icon_queen: It fits the Radical_Teen so much better, I think, so I'm sticking with Miss Marple. And you've just got to be here, Friday, it won't be the same without you!!

Maybe we're reading different forecasts? The one I looked at said "Severe Weather Alert" (for Grafton, not for down here in the valley), snow after midnight and all day Sunday. Which means that whether or not I spend the night, there's a good chance I'd be driving home on 104 in falling snow (with a broken headlight... so far, every cop I've passed has been too busy eating donuts or ticketing somebody else to pull me over for that).

I BEG your pardon! IMO, I earned my brass balls way back in 2005 when I drove solo across the country and became Early Mover #205 (narrowly beaten out by the notorious proprietor of Little Minnesota).
Edit: deleting entire paragraph proclaiming my radical awesomeness because it was just getting too full of myself even for ME. Anyway, it's all there on my blog. And Google. And my government file. ::)Whippersnapper... show some respect. ;)
Sorry, Ma'am! :notworthy:
I was reading the short-term forecast for Grafton on weather.com, but I skipped right by that "severe weather alerts" and "winter storm watch" section. I'm not yet used to those having any meaning for me. :) Even in the desert, when a weather warning appeared, it had to do with flash floods in neighboring valleys - never in mine. I have to get in the habit of paying more attention to the weather, here!
Anyway, I hope you brave it and come up - you're way to cool for me to see you as infrequently as I do.
Tonight: Cloudy skies with late-night snow showers. Low 4F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 60%.
Tomorrow: Periods of snow. High 26F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Snow accumulating 3 to 5 inches.
I would guess that would slow you down tomorrow. You might be able to buy a headlight and get it replace up here.
Tonight
Cloudy. A chance of snow in the evening...then snow after midnight. Snow accumulation around an inch. Lows around 4 above. Light and variable winds...becoming southeast around 10 mph after midnight. Chance of snow 80 percent.
Sunday
Snow. Additional snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. Highs in the lower 20s. Southeast winds around 10 mph in the morning... becoming light and variable. Chance of snow 90 percent.
People may come early if you so wish.
Leaving now.
Princesse Idelle Chattre is en route. She will be fashionably late, as she spent too much time fixing a loose diamond in her tiara; no need to wait for her to begin the pot luck.
I thought that only the Hoy Poli did their own Tiara repairs.
A good time was had by all. Some people even dressed up for their characters.
Yes, that was a fun game. I got to be both a princess AND a femme fatale! >:D :violent5:

Oh please. What was with the chick in the bag, huh, Mr. Fun Run?? :fryingpan:
That was fun :) The costumes were really cool. Jim was the smartest one and almost figured it all out.
If Tom's (Ploszaj not Sawyer) reading this, thanks for leaving the game here!
;D 8) Glad everyone had fun.
Friday was a bad girl.
