Post by: Kat Kanning on June 01, 2009, 04:14 PM NHFT
Lifted all bans, except for spammers.

I'm happy to hear this!   :)

Could you clarify if this includes the ban on discussion of electoral politics, or is it about user bans?

Sure.  I hadn't been hassling anyone about it for a long time.  I think there are other places that are better for it though.

I'll repeat my suggestion to have one specific area for political discussion. I find banning things altogether is frustrating because people do it anyway. If there is a place specifically for it, then it's kind of like an outhouse. People see that's where they're supposed to go to do their dirty business and the rest of us can just avoid the stinky place. :) Also, when someone posts something political in the wrong place (and they will) you just move it to the appropriate place (the outhouse that most of us have on ignore).

Just in time.  I see Silent Bob has accepted a leadership position in the RLCNH.  But wait... since he's Silent Bob, I guess he's not going to say much anyway.  Nevermind.

Liberty and Freedom are complex concepts. They go back to religious ideas of Free Will and are related to the Ruler Mystique implicit in absolute monarchs. Without absolute monarchs patterned after the Old Gods and ruling by the grace of a belief in religious indulgence, Liberty and Freedom would never have gained their present meaning. These ideals owe their very existence to past examples of oppression. And the forces that maintain such ideas will erode unless renewed by dramatic teaching or new oppressions. This is the most basic key to
my life.

BTW - My home IP address still is banned from the forum.  From home I can access nhunderground.com and nhunderground.com/wiki but not nhunderground.com/forum.

If I try to do so I get
QuoteForbidden

You don't have permission to access /forum/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.7a Phusion_Passenger/2.1.3 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.nhunderground.com Port 80

Apparently my fairpoint dsl ip address (71.168.82.39) is on the spammer list.

Rem-Oil is not a "cleaner".
Bore Snake good for quick & dirty (not as clean as it should be).

I've searched thru what bans are left for spammers and can't find it.   :(  That Nat guy's been having trouble.  Maybe I'll have to look straight in the forum database and see.

Seems to be working now. Maybe dynamic IP, although Bill didn't reset the router between then and now. I'll let you know if it happens again.

Hmmm....I"ll keep looking.
Title: Re: Bans lifted
Post by: J’raxis 270145 on June 08, 2009, 10:27 PM NHFT
It would help if people who are still banned describe what they're seeing.

If you're seeing an error message wrapped in the forum's look and feel, the ban must be in the forum admin configuration panel somewhere.

If you're seeing a white page that says "Forbidden," the ban is most likely in an .htaccess file or the httpd.conf file directly. Kat, it could be an .htaccess file in the forum directory, or in any of the parent directories.

If you're seeing something else, post a screenshot.

If you had 3 words to say to a non-gun person and wanted to be semi-cryptic about gun cleaning tips, what would you say?
I used my 3 words as economically as possible, because Russell doesn't want to talk about guns and he doesn't want to hear about guns (right Russell?) and I just put that out there to be snarky.
