There are a few comments there that whine, "...but it's for our saaaaafety!", but most of the comments range from laughing at the ludicrous, pathetic TSA, to being pissed.

Hmm... sounds like a sign that needs to be placed... "Now approaching checkpoint Charlie. Prepare to present your papers."

This sign would work as well:

Once I got to MHT really early in the morning... and there was nobody there.  Literally, I couldn't check in for my flight cuz no employees had shown up for work yet.  All a terrorist has to do is set his alarm clock earlier than the TSA.

Heh. I thought of that when reading a Carlos Miller article (http://carlosmiller.com/2010/02/18/are-you-required-to-produce-id-if-a-cop-demands-it/) this week. After that nutjob shot at the outside of the Texas capitol, the place was swarming with news teams. Some DPS troopers took great exception to one who shot some B-roll footage while not in the "official news zone". While insisting that he produce his DL or other ID (for having the nerve to stand in a public place), They tried to block his camera and cover their faces with their Stetsons.

exactly
i guess that shows there are no people that want to bomb the building, or they wake up late
do they inspect your fist of death before you can board the plane?

Probably, just divert their eyes from it.

Here is my a list I came up with of ways to peaceably resist these searches.  What are *your* ideas for effectively opposing this?

Some easy low risk ones first:

Get video whenever you see or experience a search.  be open, inform authorities you're audio taping.  call porc 411 whenever you learn of a search underway.   vector activists to the scene.  maybe I or others can get video too. or you could set up a spot demonstration.  maybe you could have a sign or two ready to go for this purpse.   you could set up a pre planened  protest.

another thing I tried before discovering video...was to walk deep into  the airport and stand there with a sign protesting security procedures.   i handed out leafelets to folks who approached me then backed out slowly when cops ordered me out.

if forced into a search try complying slowly.  ask questions....who what where when why.

You can reduce your number of outgoing flights.  Just cancel certain trips.   you didn't want to be away from new hamsphrie anyhow, right? you didnt want the governemnt to get all that tax money did you?  and you didn't realliy want to be four hundred dollars poorer, did you?  if possible...just skip the trip.   if therer's somewhere you really need to be... try being there less often but for a longer period of time.  that's what i do. I limit flights , no more than two per year.   avoid last minute bookings to reduce the amount of money they get out of you.
these steps willl amount to a partial boycott.

if you for some reason cannot take any risk at all, there are still steps available.  write down everything you see and post it to one of the liberty oriented web forms in new hampshire.

if you want to be even more effective you can always drive up  and decline to submit.   just dont do this half cocked and dont be rude.

see the video descrip for this clip....if you want  a relativeliy full list of your options.

i do have some questions regarding the exact protocol the authoritarians will impose .... maybe you can answer them for me.   what woudl constitute an inspection?  a search? would they serach inside vehicle cabs?   trunks?   engines?   would they use special devices of some kind?  Will they be purchaseing new equipment at taxpayer expense?  would they arrest an approaching driver for having marijuana in her glove box?   her trunk?  what would they do if a driver arrived at the terminal but refused to consent to a search?   these are questions you can help answer if you run into a search.

Hey, if they don't search everybody coming to the airport, somebody might hijack it to Cuba.  :D

More sekurity theatre. Laugh at the fools. Don't take them seriously.

I always get a kick out of the "Wiggins" check-in counter there.  It reminds me and everyone else of the sitcom, "Wings".

good luck
good ideas Ridley

if you are going to not change your habits, then maybe videoing and calling during a search will at least bring more light to the practice

I was thinking that a planned non-compliance event could happen with bicycles or similar, so they wouldn't take my car away. I would tell the guy in charge that i was going to meet someone as they get off the plane and show up there 2 hours beforehand with a bike and backpack they were not allowed to search. I could wait for the guy inside or in the "white zone" outside. If i ever got that far we could have white zone recordings like the movie airplane. :)

I"ll be leaving for a florida visit on Thursday. I"m gonna prepare myself for the worst if this is going to happen. I thought I would put that out to the underground if anyone is able to react. The only thing is that my flight is early in the morning so it's understandable if few people would be interested in heading out during the hours of 12AM-4AM.

In Boston they check vehicles as they stop to get a parking stub.  The parking attendants asked to open the back door of the van and looked inside for a second.  They didn't have uniforms or metal detectors or any instruments.  It's easier for them to search if the cars come to them.  It would be harder to chase after every car that stops at the curb and demand a search.

Nothing to report. Same sleepy small town airport with lots of stainless steel and Kalwall on display.
One cop shot me a dirty look because it looked for a second that we were exceeding the 3 mph speed limit in the red zone. He got over it.

We might need counseling though. Trauma!

good to see continued traffic and updates... sooner or later they will spring the search and hopefully one of us can learn of it and at least get video before it ends.

yes. if they get nuts and start searching a lot, then it will be easier for us to film the process
i would think they would do it at tollbooths and such too. It is much easier to photo the license plate and other bad stuff.
At MHT they would have to set it up right outside the parking area to catch anyone that pulls up to the building.

How about an event this summer Dada? I ride in on a bike and let them know ahead of time they cannot search my big bag. Anyone want to give me a big bag with their logo on to promote your cause/website etc? I would mark it on the other side "my stuph" and that is what i would tell them it contains if they ask about it. Maybe I should tell them it has an anti-tyranny device in it.

"anti-tyranny device "

Hmm. Is that the same thing as a democrat repellent?

Does anyone know who is doing the searching? I wonder if it is airport people or police. What do they do if you turn around and leave when you see they are searching? Or if they request to search and you refuse and drive away? If its airport people, they can't do a thing, but if they're police, I bet they chase after you...which could provide hours of entertainment...

i would expect it to be the cops
the armed security at the airport is rockingham county
the manch pd might be there, since i think the city owns it, even though it is in londonderry

Got in last night around 10:00. I didn't see anything even resembling random vehicle searches. I hung out in the airport until 6:00AM without any problems. Well besides being treated like a criminal by the TSA. I got some footage of them that I'll be uploading soon. Nothing special. Just tax feeders doing their job.

Since it's one way traffic you'll at least get a ticket.

but maybe they are not doing anything more than before

I suspect their idea of "random" searches is to spend an hour setting up somewhere around the underpass, search one vehicle, spend another hour tearing down, and the remaining 6 hours of their shift at Dunkin' Donuts.

That would be random enough.  I drove by there earlier today, but no sign of anyone. Could be the weather, who knows.
