Lauren said they came to the house and took Jim because of disorderly conduct at Nashua 4:20. Lauren was apparently on the warrant also, but they didn't take her.
She asked people to call Winchester Police to find out about him. 603-239-4814

A friend will be dropping by the Winchester PD at about 9 to retrieve him. Hope they let him go.
Mike called and they said the state police have him in Winchester

State Police say he's being taken to Cheshire County Jail :(
Mike gave them what for.

I guess Russell and Jim will be together.
I guess there'll be two arraignments Monday morning :-\
Crud, weekend in jail sucks :(
They must have done it on a Friday night intentionally.
Why didn't they arrest you, Lauren?
Friendly woman at Cheshire jail said Jim is on route to jail and he will be held there "on charges." I asked what charges, and she said she didn't know, that I had to call the court. I asked "the court that's open at 8:30p at night?" She said "well, you'll have to call them..." then she hesitated, then continued "I guess on Monday." She said she wouldn't know more until Jim was there.
Cheshire Jail phone # is 399-7794. They have a long phone tree - don't wait, just press 0 for operator.
Mike tried to ask Cheshire County another question, but they said they were rather hectic right now :D
:)
I'm sure a number of phonecalls asking about Jim's well being would be appreciated.
399-7794 Cheshire Co. Jail
Trooper Gillis, a Statey and Officer Jette, of Winchester were the ones who took Jim.
Wait, will he be arraigned in Keene or Nashua?

Talley is reporting that another cop came out today looking for Lauren.
The cop said he had a warrant for Lauren Canario (or "Miss Canario?"), too, so she should be prepared to be kidnapped and caged soon. :(
Someone was knocking on the door, but I'm kinda busy with youtube uploads so I didn't answer. Hope they got tired and went home.
Matthew J. DiFava
Nashua P.O.P. Unit
Which one is he?
What I mean is, DiFava is the one who wrote out the complaint and asked for a warrant.
Does anyone have a picture of him?
Talked to a very polite woman at Cheshire Jail, it might have been Officer Sweeney. She confirmed he is there and being held on charges of 'disorderly conduct'. She said he is completely unharmed. She didn't say when they will be releasing him, but that he will have to stay the weekend there. I didn't think to ask why they couldn't release him on bond or on PR. When I asked if we could visit him on Sunday, she said he wouldn't be able to get any visitors. Perhaps we might be able to make an impromptu visit there Sunday anyway?
There will be a lot of people in town for the Free Keene Fest, so I think maybe we should wrap the fest up early perhaps and head to the jail? Curious as to how Barskey feels, though he was considering canceling the event.
Also, Barskey, as an aside, with Jim out of commission and Lauren perhaps too, I'll need someone else with a truck/van to come get my table and canopies.
Thanks, WfL, That's a good idea because you can see some of the captives from the front lobby. Our guys might be visible.
Good job not answering their questions, Lauren. I'm curious, did Jim identify himself to them before the video started? I wonder how differently that would have gone if Jim hadn't answered the door at all. Did it seem they were prepared to bust it in?
Blogged it:

When the doorbell rang, Jim said The sheriff is here.
I asked what if we don't open the door?
He said, what could happen?
:(
Yes, Jim must have said his name before the video started.
No, they didn't have a battering ram.
I'm betting they won't break the door to apprehend people for disorderly conduct,
seeing how that would be pretty disorderly, but I could be wrong.
lame
Jesus Fucking Christ!!!! I'm so fucking pissed off right now, I can't see straight. What a bullshitter...."you'll be home this evening unless something unforeseen happens" You mean something like we've got him, now we can make him sit there all weekend? Because we can?
Good on you Lauren. I don't know that I would have kept my cool like you did. >:(
>:( >:( >:( >:(
Holy crap. I really want to see the affidavit on that warrant. Disorderly conduct is something that gets you arrested on the spot, or not at all. Some asshole actually swore out a warrant? And called the staties to execute it? The Friday night thing is just standard when they really want to screw with someone. This DiFava character is a real piece of whale shit.
Unless Jim had direct interaction with Nashua PD, to the point that they were able to identify him, how did they know his name? Disorderly conduct is a misdemeanor at maximum, and only a "violation" unless the "subject" refused to stop what they were doing.

Who? I watched the video and listened to the Porc-411 call from Jim's phone. I didn't hear any indication that anyone named "Lauren" was present.
I'm sure now the Friday night thing is because they knew it was totally bogus charges, but wanted to do something to Jim and Lauren anyway. (Oh KB said the same thing :)
Oh, I think people outta call the Nashua Police and ask why they'd do such a terrible thing to Jim (603) 594-3500
BTW, If I was them, I'd be scared to have Lauren Canario doggin' my tail :o Not to mention Becky Thatcher :o :o I don't think they know what they've done.

Seems if by coming for our sweetest, most innocent guys they want to provolk violence, they're wrong, but they could get nasty things said about them on the radio and in the newspaper.
It appears Free Keene Fest is postponed. Now I'd say it's just up to someone to declare a time for the jail demonstration and announce it!

Disorderly is one of two charges they charged me with, a class a misdemeanor.
A maximum of a year in jail and 2000 dollar fine.
Jail vigil on the calendar (http://nhunderground.com/forum/index.php?topic=20571.0)
Jim called from jail. He's in the bubble room with 3 other guys. Visible from the lobby. He says visits are happening today. Visitors can see but not talk to him. He saw Russell, when Jim refused to give SSN or TB test they said something like, "we got another Kanning here".
Jim had no mattress last night, they questioned him in the early hours, he doesn't know what he said in his exhaustion. He said he kept asking them to repeat the questions. They have told him nothing about how long he will be there or why they are holding him.
This sucks!
I just found out about this. Bummer now we have two men missing in action. i hope they don't get Lauren too.
"we've got another Kanning here" LoL that most really rattle them to have two of them.

The big protests are over, now they are trying to arrest people one by one. This is why we do the big protests, safety in numbers.

Big difference between the staties who took Jim, and the Manch PD. Staties tend to have people skills and use them to avoid fights. Manch and Nashua cops are eager for a fight.

Here is one possible approach I hadn't thought of, which could be used by an arrestee at court or in another Nashua 3/20 type situation. I think I might try it some time.
Just sing "We Shall Overcome" while being arrested, harassed or dragged around in court. Maybe you could get the whole crowd singing it but even with just one person it would be powerful.
The lyrics are below :
And the full melody of the 1960 version is here:

It's actually Tom Clancy's idea, I just remembered it. He said if the Palestenian resisters would do that they would win.
We need a lot less changing than they do. This tune says it all, makes them look like the bad guys and gives a good idea where we're coming from. They'll hate it.
We could try that approach at the next rally instead of randomly questioning the cops. Just to see which works better.
We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.
The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through,
The Lord will see us through someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.
We're on to victory, We're on to victory,
We're on to victory someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We're on to victory someday.
We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We'll walk hand in hand someday.
We are not afraid, we are not afraid,
We are not afraid today;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We are not afraid today.
The truth shall set us free , the truth shall set us free,
The truth shall set us free someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
The truth shall set us free someday.
We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,
We shall live in peace someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall live in peace someday.

I emphatically agree with the basic idea, but, of course, believe songs written specifically for the liberty movement are preferable.

The President is in an undisclosed bunker, security procedures have been implemented.
Because of the heinous insult of kidnapping the Vice President and the Cardinal of the Shire, the President has issued an executive order breaking off diplomatic relations. He is issuing a "letter of marque and reprisal".
Just called the Chesire County Jail to inquire if they are giving Jim Johnson a matress to sleep on. They first tried to act like they didn't know who Jim Johnson was, then would only say that they give all prisoners the same treatment, then hung up on me.

I never bought into Van Wickler's alleged compatibility with liberty ideas--too many freedom-oriented people too casually project their own good qualities onto others. But "fucking LEAP" fucking LEAPt overboard to swim to the ship of State some months back, so what does membership in that organization prove?

I go to a Passover Seder almost every year, with 70 or so others. I'm not Jewish, but it's a yearly event at the community where I live. We always sing that song, making up verses until we're done. I think of it as a song for a long ago liberty movement. No reason it couldn't be used today.

QuoteNASHUA – Nashua police used YouTube and help from other area police departments to arrest two more people involved in a large protest of marijuana laws on Library Hill last month.
I think it would be fun to watch all the Youtube videos relating to this case in court... The cops have introduced this... Couldn't ask for a better venue for a public showing of the videos. :)
My comment on the article.
QuoteJim Johnson did not "clash" with anyone he quietly stood while the police arrested another person quietly standing.
The article also fails to mention that Lewis Labitue was the only black person at the event...
So when the police arrived at the event they zero'd in on the only black man present... in fact they were so focused on him that they didn't notice all the people that were open carrying pistols.
This has been a large blunder on the Nashua Police Departments part. They have continued this by not understanding civil disobedience. Arrests don't stop civil disobedience... they give wind to the sails.

It's great to go back to the old and tested standards, but a good idea to keep a steady infusion of new, fresh sound as well. "We Shall Overcome" immediately calls to mind the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s--the liberty movement should have an anthem all its own that is as easily identifiable. I'll keep trying to provide one, and am encouraging others to do the same.
The problem with this is Nashua. Not even an 'armpit' of NH, it is an armpit of MA. It is too far away from everywhere.
Liberty Forum should not have been held there, to begin with. Same with the 420. How will any sustained effort against Nashua cops be maintained that far away:qm:
These events are like a wave... all that can be done is to ride it and get what can be gotten from it.
The victims invested the risk to their liberty. The payback is whatever mileage is gained from that sacrifice.
The authorities are trapped in their dominate and control mind set and world view. They create their own problem by continuing to keep the story alive.

Jim is safely home. Scrubbing the injustice out of his ears. Thank you Kevin Dean!
Glad Jim's home.
So what the hell happened this morning? They had Jim in Keene District Court, then realized "oops, wrong court" and sent him down to Nashua in the afternoon? A bunch of us were in Nashua this morning but only saw Big Mike's arraignment, but left by 10:30 when the judge claimed (heh) they were done with arraignments.
By the way, when is Jim's trial? I'll add that to the 420@420 post (http://www.420at420.org/stories/2010/04/19/arrest_updates) so we can get word out.
@Sam A. Robrin,
On the topic of the songs, I like the idea of having our own songs, but I think Dave's idea is to make the immediate connection in observers' minds back to the civil rights movement. Maybe we need a version of "We Shall Overcome" with updated lyrics to reflect this movement, but maintaining the exact same tune and the famous and recognizable "we shall overcome..." verse(s). That call-and-response song you had at the Nashua PD on the day of the big arrests is pretty close to this whole idea, too.
Sorry it took so long to scrub the jail off me.
Thank Yous, to all of you for your support. :)
Russell and I, as well as our cell mates, were greatly lifted by your actions.
Neither of us received any mail. The jailers do not give people mail while they hold them in the intake areas.
I was taken to Keene Dist. Court, by Sheriffs, where the court refused the case. They claimed it was a Police Warrant which had to be handled in Nashua and that the Nashua police had to deliver me there. The Sheriff took me back to Westmoreland but almost there and no, take me to the State Prison in Concord. There they exchange my shackles and put me in a paddy wagon. Then on to Nashua and "I'm sorry the Court closed 15 minutes ago. Will see what we can do."
They put me in a cell and I could hear them arguing about how the Nashua Police were supposed to have picked me up and the Sheriff's were saying, "I don't know, we were told to bring him here."
Then they seemed to work fairly hard to get me a VDO arraignment and I was coached on how and what to say to the Judge.... (Weird? I think so.)
They wanted $100 bail, I got Personal Recognizance bail.
They scheduled a trial for May 24, 2010 and asked that I be there at 8:15 am.
Thank You again.

"Someday, Someday Soon" was definitely written to be this movement's "We Shall Overcome." I have to instruct people to just draw out the last syllable of "liberty" in the third line, because the natural tendency seems to be to give it the same inflection and note sequence as is given to the first "someday" in "WSO"!
Biggest problem is that a five-syllable phrase is easier to improvise than a seven-syllable one. But if you want appropriate five-syllable calls for "We Shall Overcome," try these:
Freedom is our right
Liberty is ours
No more government
Break oppression's chains
You can't cage our minds
In our hearts, we're free
Come be free with us
No one owns my soul
Fear can't hold us back
My life is my own
Unjust laws will change
I can probably come up with a few dozen more, but it's late, and I'm sleepy. Better still, everybody else here can come up with some! Then come over some Thursday night, and we'll practice them!
