Title: Laptop Friendly Disaster Survival Library
Post by: Dave Ridley on June 06, 2006, 02:21 PM NHFT
I built this 3MB text document of survival information from trusted sources.  The idea is to have a copy on your laptop or blackberry so you can access and keyword search it *after* a disaster strikes, for quick reference.

for example if you keyword search the word "hypothermia" you'll get first aid info about treating that condition.  Keyword search "iodine" and you'll get info on how many drops of iodine to put in stream water before you can drink it.

If I was going to be stuck somewhere alone and I could take one book I would take my Boyscout guide. There is a lot of essential information someone could use to survive.

I'll wait for someone to rehost it

My survival plan is to hike around with my SKS and a case of ammo, and eat berries and mushrooms.

Well...if he's 45 he may help you survive, but, limited in providing other services.

I don't even wanna know the requirements to earn that merit badge
you were discussing earlier! ;D

As far as PDF files go, I'm starting to collect quite a few. Most of the sites where
I find good PDF resources get posted in different places, bandwidth usage goes up,
and then they close. :-\  I'm considering selling a CD-ROM "best of" library.
I was surprised to NOT find a copy of the NH constitution in PDF format, might
have to remedy that myself.

I've got more web sites than I know what to do with. That isn't really the issue. It's the fact that a lot of this information is out of date and needs review. I'll probably stick it up somewhere later and let you all review it. :)
