Hot on the heels of PorcFest, I've updated the FSP DVD torrent.
This is the same copy of the DVD that is at the FSP table at PorcFest, downloadable for those of you who couldn't make it out here.
It now includes new footage of various protests (such as the anti-Real-ID rally and Russ & Kat's Free Speech trial), video clips of stirring speeches made by NH legislators on the House floor and on local TV (such as one quoting Patrick Henry's famous line "Give me Liberty, or give me Death!"), new TV news footage, and a slightly slicker main menu.
Everyone is welcome to download it, and burn as many copies as you like!
The DVD image is freely available via BitTorrent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bittorrent).
First, you need a BitTorrent client. I've found Azureus to be the best one:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php
Once you've downloaded and installed Azureus (or if you already have a BitTorrent client), just click on any of the following:
http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3499037
http://www.torrentbox.com/torrents-details.php?id=51736
http://www.mininova.org/tor/352509
This being BitTorrent, the more people that download, the faster it goes for everyone :D
Please, once you have finished downloading, leave your BitTorrent application running, as this speeds up the download for everyone else.
If you run into any trouble, or have any feedback, please post here.
I'll answer questions as best I can, and am always looking for suggestions for the next cut of the DVD.
Share and Enjoy!
Thanks Denis!!
I have mine going now.
Please, please do leave your BitTorrent program up and running when the downloads complete -- at least through this weekend, when many people will be downloading. Every extra "seeder" really helps a lot!
I see people downloading from all over the US, the Netherlands, the UK, Sweden... I also see at least 2 different downloaders from China! Imagine.... people in some of the most repressive regimes on Earth may be watching what we're doing here n New Hampshire... and what they see may fortify their resolve, give them hope... damn, I better stop, I am tearing up here

Yessssss . . . me neeeeeds it, me wantssssss it . . . the preccccious sseeeeeeed . . . . :'(
I seed 24/7. Utorrent is a very small program, and does not take up much resources. Just be sure to cap your upload bandwidth, and you'll never notice it.
Will all the main-hall speaches be available? There were at least two video cameras running all weekend in there.
I especially want the big three on Sat:
Change gov't by running. ( infiltration )
Change gov't by protest. ( dissention )
Change gov't by lawsuit. ( litigation )

I assume you're talking about PorcFest. I hope to get that footage on the
next DVD, in 4-5 months' time.
By the way, whoever has that footage, please PM me.

No one outside Porcfest has ever gotten to see the speeches.. I'd really like to.
I would like to see the russel and babiarz ones from 3:30 and 4:00.....

I'll do my best to get 'em as widely disseminated as possible.
Don Gorman's speech last year was the ultimate, the best political speech I've seen in NH (shy perhaps of Neal Kurk's "Patrick Henry moment" on 1582). This year Gorman's speech as also pretty good, but bot as good, but maybe that's because I'd already seen him last year.
Anyway, I don't want to spoil any big announcements, but suffice to say that there will be an opportunity to see some of these fine speakers in action before PorcFest '07. Shhhhh.....

Some of us at Porcfest didn't see them either. :-X
If you're using utorrent, you can click on all 3 and utorrent will use all 3 trackers at once.

Just out of curiousity... what benefit does that give?

When you're seeding, you'll be seeding to the people on all 3 trackers rather just be seeding to the people on one tracker.
When you're downloading, it means more people to download from = faster download speed.
Downloading . . .
Denis you've crossed the line...

Roger, you're the guy making the
fucking awesome video product.
Distributing it is the easy part, in this internet age.
You name the place and the time, I'll be there.
How about tomorrow's MVP meeting?

Can't find the thread.
Yeah I'm doing my best to make it to the meeting before helping Kevin move. Think the rest of the clan will stay home, just little ol' me.
Just ran the mower off-road on my mountainside for the better part of the day... do they make 4 wheel drive. ;D

Oh...
that Kevin. With Nadia and Heidi.
:'(
nevermind.
yikes this is slow
Hey, I'm glad it's working... I'm not seeding right now.
If it's slow, the first thing to check is that NAT is set up properly (see my earlier post on that)
If NAT is OK, then please complain to the people who downloaded and then killed their bittorrent client, because they are not seeding... if they were, your download would be faster!
Patience is a virtue.
ok i opened the appropriate ports, and now it's downloading about 3 times faster.

My is seed is still up, but hasn't budged off of 515 MB uploaded since Friday night.
Possibly I should upload just 1 tracker next time. On the down side, that means if the tracker gets taken down, people can't easily get the torrent (such as happened with PirateBay a while ago). On the up side, it would make it easier for people to download and connect to all seeders.
ok i downloaded the file, but i don't know how to open it. my mac says it can't open the file. i'm completely lost here, since i don't even know what an ISO file is...?

To watch it on your computer, you can try
http://www.videolan.org/
Any DVD-burning software (Nero, or google for "Free DVD Burner" to get links like http://www.burn4free.com/ ) can be used to burn the .ISO directly to a "DVD-R" disc. Just about any recent (last 5-6 years) DVD player can play DVD-R.
Try googling "what is an ISO" ;)
I downloaded utorrent then downloaded the video, but I don't know what to do now. I tried clicking on the play button, but it didn't do anything.

The .ISO file is a disk image. You have to mount it, and then it will look just like a physical DVD to your computer.
Dunno how to do that with Windows.
I could never get it to work. I downloaded the torrent twice. The first DVD-RW I tried got an error using Deep Burner from the site (Nero wouldn't recognize the .ISO). The second DVD-RW I tried wrote fine, but when I went to open the disk, my computer shows it as still being blank, even though I can physically see where the data was written to the disk.
I'll try that link above to see if I can view the file on my machine.
I can view it using that VLC player you linked to.

Thanks, Dennis! I don't have a DVD recorder and this worked great. Just drag and drop onto it.

Are you running OS X? When you double-click the .ISO file, it should launch Disk Utility and then mount the volume right on the desktop. Then you can launch the DVD player and use file/open to open the video_ts file on the mounted volume. That's what works for me (running 10.2.8).

It sounds like you've just got a corrupted copy. I believe I went through that with a previous version of the FSP video. Try deleting the folder named "Free State Project Video v1.4", then try again.
Not a happy answer. Sorry!
