Title: Next protest
Post by: Kat Kanning on December 21, 2004, 09:07 AM NHFT
Hey guys, if we're going to do another protest, I'd like to do one about the patriot act / national ID card.  This is far more immediate and serious than the UN problems.

How about we have a demonstration, doing innocent things that could be illegal according to the patriot act?  We could take photos of bridges/dams/etc., walk around w/o ID...what else?

I intend to build an outpost on Feb 6 between FP and the FP mission.  It will be as close as possible to the mission square, on the main route players will be travelling. The goal is to have it up, running and repeatedly opening its doors for a couple hours.  Hopefully players doing the mission during that time won't have to go back to FP for repairs and other OP services.  However, I can't do this alone.  Please join me.

Suggested schedule (Forum time aka U.S. eastern time):

8:00a Thu Feb 6 - Check this forum thread.  I will determine the exact location for the attempted OP build and post it here.
8:15a I'll open a room in the CB chat called "Fort Pastor mission support." - Please join me there
8:20a Hit F2 and set it to follow "EndTheFed."  My name is the same on the forum, the game, and the chat.
8:30a Form up with me at the entrance to the target building. If you're having trouble getting my attention, fire your weapon next to me or whisper me in the CB.  I need to *hear* you not just see you.
8:45a begin clearing the building
9:00a Invite the wounded in,  begin closing and opening the building, going into and out of outpost mode as needed for them.  Obviously we'll have to keep clearing it too.
11:00a shut down  the outpost for the day.

Besides showing up to clear the building, you can help me by:

) Joining the Fort Pastor Mission Support room,
) Informing other survivors about this player-generated mission, send them the link to this thread
   http://fairview.deadfrontier.com/onlinezombiemmo/index.php?topic=830034.0
) donating to the cause, preferably at FP
) bringing extra planks and nails so we can repeatedly continually open and close a door
) Popping into the other chat rooms (where appropriate) to let them know about our room
) Leading the wounded to our base by standing right outside of it and posting area messages to invite them in .

If this works, even partially, maybe we can make it a recurring thing and help a lot of players while enriching game content.
I'm too low level to offer a big bounty, but I will donate about 700 dollars worth of shtuffs to any player who shows up on time to clear the building and is still present when we enter OP mode the first time.

x36  y8   is the tentative site for the op build: the house there.    Stand by for confiration of the location.

Location confirmed, now let me describe the coordinates better.

the game-generate mission is at 11down 9right in relation to FP
Our primary target location for the op build will be the house in the upper left corner of  L6 D9 (also in relation to FP)
If that is taken, we'll use the secondary target.   the grocery store in the lower right corner of L7 D9.
So the target locations are within 3 squares of the mission square, between it and FP.

Ridley Report emergency traffic node established

Obviously there are some fears of an Egypt-style internet shutdown in America. But many types of events can disrupt the normal flow of info. In the event of a major communication disruption in New Hampshire, I hope to continue posting messages on this backup forum:

http://sgforums.com/forums/3611/topics/443509

Of course...I might have to use phone or snail mail to do so! If I'm unavailable, someone else will take over for me. At least that's the plan.

In the event of an emergency the current message on that thread will change and the emergency traffic should appear in its place.

For now...bookmark the link. And check it if RidleyReport.com or YouTube.com/RidleyReport ever go inactive.

Keep an eye on this RidleyReport.com page for improved emergency traffic protocols.

One caution though....we should be very cautious about accusing the patiot act of banning things, i.e. making sure we have good sources for any accusations we make, prefereably from the text of the law itself.

If anyone wants to read through 84 pages of it...

There have also been many elements of Patriot Act II passed, connected to other laws.

I'm all for it.  And I've got some friends that would be happy to be involved.  Just say where and when.

I feel like doing some sightseeing and photographing of dams and bridges. :)
I also don't feel like bringing any government ID and no thank you on the chip implant. 8)

When I've recovered a little I'll do some more research on what exactly has been made illegal with the patriot acts.  It seriously freaked me out...this stuff is scary.   :o  Police State America.

When are you all chaining me up to the Massachusetts Hates You sign?

Kat and I were talking about that sign chain idea. How would we get the media there. Maybe this would be more of a film and distribute through our channels. :)

I personally know Randy Price, head News Anchor for WHDH-TV Boston, Channel 7. I can see if they can get a 7 News van up to report on it :-)

Ok so someone please inform us what harmless things we are banned from doing by this act, or by a proposed revision of it.... things that are visual and which we could do as a protest.

Are we really banned from photographing bridges? That seems a little hard to believe...

Hmm... interesting idea. I have had my camera stolen from me, years ago, when I was in Salem, MA taking pictures of the coal power plant. I tried to sue, but they dismissed it cause I had no proof it was stolen.

And people wonder why I don't like government... oy.

Ah yes, my old back yard . . . I have supported the Salem (Ma.) power plant against the dishonest (in my opinion) elitist, fear-mongering, regulation-worshiping, snobs who repeatedly made agreements - - - but then want to keep moveing the goal-post.?  >:(  It is not even about what they would manipulate the public think.
These will be the same people who will oppose natural gas there.? Mark my words.? You can take that to the bank.
But that is a story for another day.? I'm in New Hampshire now.? ?:)
It will be cool to trade storys about the old plant when we meet again.? ?8)

(What was that all about?? I must still have a sore nerve.? Sorry to go so far off topic.)

HAH! I used to live, at one point when I was traversing around Tax-ACHOO-setts, in Salem on Derby Street. Where'd you live?

Jim P. Yes Virginia, I really was a Masshole!
