Hi All,
Two things I want to address with this post...
First, and most important, if you haven't read "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross and "Enemies Foreign And Domestic" by Matthew Bracken then I would advise you to do so as these are both MUST READ books for everyone in the gun culture and liberty spectrum! With this latest campus shooting leaving 33 dead...you may well see some serious anti-gun legislation being passed(Matthew's book details a complete nationwide ban on all semi-automatic firearms). Screw silver and gold...I'm buying lead and steel! Time to shoot the bastards!
Second, I have not found out the name of the hero from the Uptown yet, but I am concerned that the police took his defensive arm(and I'm sure didn't give him a loaner!). As a reward and also to get a defensive firearm back on this guy's hip I am starting a Hero Victory Fund to get enough money together to personally take this guy to Riley's and give him the money as a gift so he can buy a brand new firearm, ammunition, and accessories. It is my intention to also use this as a media event and I would like to have others participate and(if you are willing) to have a group photo taken with this gentleman and his new firearm.
I would like to raise as much as possible to give to him ASAP since he may be without a defensive arm right now.
I am personally pledging $100.00 and I will also collect any donations that people are willing to give to this worthy cause!
Please email me personally if you'd like to donate!
Thanks,
Rob
GREAT idea! I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute but I'll see what I can do. This may even get a positive review in the Union Leader...
If every FSP member donated $2.00 we could buy him a Barrett Model 82A1, ammunition, and some accessories!
Of course it wouldn't exactly fit in his shoulder holster...lol.
If every current "in-state" Porcupine donated even just $1.00 each that would be $458 and with my $100.00 pledge that would be enough to purchase a decent firearm at Riley's.
Of course we won't get even a dollar from most people so those who really value this will have to shoulder the load for the rest of the bunch...
Hasn't it always been that way...
The extreme sacrifices of a few...
Benefiting the masses...
Hey, let's show this state what we're made of!
Live Free Or Die!
Now we have the patron's name and a quick search for "ken gage" and "nh" resulted in this phone number and address(public domain and hence, postable).
Ken Gage (603) 624-1473 465 Rimmon St, Manchester, NH 03102
I'm going to try to contact him asap.
Does anyone know him?
Thanks,
Rob

When the phone number was called a machine answered with rap music in the background and "Shelley Barnes" requesting a message(none left at this time).
I have several persons checking on additional contact information.
Please advise asap if you know Ken Gage or have any contact information.
Thanks,
Rob
I have a P3AT, and I agree that it is a pretty nice gun considering its very reasonable price (a little over $300). I found that mine is quite accurate, especially for such a small handgun. I outfitted mine with one of these Pocket Slipper laser units for about $100.
I found that the iron sights are rudimentary, but point in the right spot so that the bullets hit where I'm aiming. The laser was a little off when I first installed it, but with a little tweaking, I got it pretty close. I like my Sig best, but for an easy to conceal, comfortable, and easy to use handgun, it's hard to beat the P3AT. Rob, are you going to the GO-NH meeting tonight? I don't have much money, but I'd be willing to pitch in a couple bucks for the let's buy Ken Gage a gun fund.
I'm not 100% on the GONH meeting tonight but if you just want to pledge an amount via private email I'll let you know if and when we need the donation(he may or may not accept)...
This goes likewise for everyone else that would like to make a pledge...
I have a S&W 940 (5-shot, 9mm J-frame)that could be the gun for him, if he wants it. With the new business starting, I'm pressed for cashflow right now, but I'd be willing to discount pretty far below what I would otherwise ask for it, as my contribution. I think these go for about $500, last I checked. If the Porcs can raise $300, we can give it to Gage.
Joe
Ok!
Here is the latest on our fund to allow Ken Gage to purchase a "reward" and "replacement" firearm for the one that the police will probably have for some time(from prior experience, police are required to send all confiscated or retained handguns to an FBI lab for ballistic identification to see if it has been used in a crime...this takes place anytime the police have occasion to obtain possession of a handgun)...
I went to the GONH meeting tonight and spoke to the members and to the first vice president Ralph Demicco who also own's Riley's in Hooksett... Ken Gage is a customer of Ralph's and was in the shop today... Ralph said he would collect donations for Ken and provide a deep discount so Ken can purchase a new firearm as a reward for his bravery and to replace the one the police took...
I gave Ralph my $100.00 donation and GONH member Toni Piper also donated $10.00... I'll bet Riley's is buzzing tomorrow and we could very well see donations reach over $1000.00 which means Ken can choose from most any of the handguns that Riley's has in stock or could order for him!!!
I'll be requesting that Ralph include the names(and organizations) of the donors(if they so choose) in a press release complete with photos of Ken, any donors we can notify who can be present, and his new sidearm!
Please send your donations to:
The Ken Gage Hero's Reward Fund
C/O: Ralph Demicco
Riley's Sport Shop
1575 Hooksett Road, Daniel Webster Highway
Hooksett, NH 03106
If you have any questions you can contact Ralph or myself!
Also, congratulations are in order for Tim Logsdon(Defenderofliberty) who was elected to the GONH board of directors!!! Yeah Tim!!!
I'd be happy to donate $25 to the cause :)
PayPal ok?

I doubt if Ralph accepts PayPal(and neither do I)...
Perhaps you could get some cash and drop it off in the next couple of days...
Thanks,
Rob

Count me in for $25 FRN or $30 LD, if they'll take that.
Hi All,
Jenn Coffey, the state coordinator for the Second Amendment Sisters has picked up our request for donations and sent it to her members...I'm assuming the story will get picked up by the national organization and donations may come in from all across the nation!
A huge THANKS to Jenn for everything that she does for us!!!!!
I can't praise her enough!
I have posted a request for donations to several areas of Craigslist to increase donations and media exposure.
http://nh.craigslist.org/vnn/314042255.html
and
http://nh.craigslist.org/pol/314046347.html
Please do the same at other websites that you are familiar with!
Thanks,
Rob
I put my check in the mail today with a note saying if it was not need for the replacement of his firearm, to donate it to him personally.
Cathleen
I'll see what I can come up with for funds. Not as much as I'd like to, I'm sure. Hopefully I can stop by Riley's this weekend and drop it off with them, directly.
Joe
Put my check in the post today as well, I hope it will get there soon enough. :)
Count me in for $20
I'd like to check out Riley's anyway so I may just head up that way and drop it off personally...
:)
I took Jack's $25.00 donation today so I'll be delivering that to Riley's in the next few days as time permits...
Thanks Everyone!
i'm in for $15
ill be droping off a $25 donation at rileys this weekend. how long will the fund be at rileys for? maybe others will take notice and treat ken like a hero not a bad vigilante
and maybe once the guy gets his gun... they could just keep the fund there for the next person who has their gun stolen from them.

Seconded.

EXCELLENT IDEA.
Took Jack Shimek's $25.00 donation in to Riley's today and also donated $15.00 for Dave Ridley. Ralph was and continues to be "blown away" at all the efforts to support Ken Gage. Ralph is pro-liberty and pro-FSP!
Ralph told me that Ken Gage came into the shop yesterday and purchased a new Kel-Tec 9mm sidearm(with Ralph giving him a good discount and using our donations and some of his own money). Ralph and I agreed that we will continue to take donations and will reimburse Ken for the full cost of his new Kel-Tec and perhaps an ammo and accessory purchase... Then we will take any remaining donations and accumulate them for our next "Hero's Reward"! Please continue to send in donations to Ken's fund even after we've announced that enough donations have been received to reimburse Ken because we are going to have this fund ready and waiting for the next Hero!
We may also establish a "Victim's Armament Fund" for those persons victimized in NH. After learning of an incident we would ask the victim if they would like to have adequate personal protection to defend themselves in the future. If they don't object then the fund will provide them with a firearm and some training.
How does this sound?
Feedback?
Thanks!
Rob
I would think that a 'victim's fund' needs to be nothing more than someone agreeing to donate training and range time and gun stores willing to donate a gun on a rotating basis, possibly with donated funds, to a verified victim.
Gun enthusiast Porcs will likely send their friends to those instructors, use those ranges and shop at those stores.

I know I'll be donating regularily to the funds so that they continue to grow over time... Others can and will also do this... I'm not interested in working with other shops at this time although that may change in the future(Riley's is very popular, friendly, has a huge selection, and is a reasonable drive to support a pro-liberty and pro-FSP person and business).
I think it would be great if others took Lloyd's ideas and ours and copied them in other areas and even other states!
Ain't it cool man!
I sent a message to my favorite media contact at WGIRAM -- maybe he'll pick up the story...
If someone writes it up they should send it to the writer who wrote the article in the UL.... it would make for a good followup.
WGIRAM?
Where are the Acronym Police when you need them?
They just left DD on their way back to Center of Town Road...
The ones who dropped Gardner Goldsmith.
Oh! WGIR am.!

Any updates on this? I've noticed my check hasn't cleared yet.
:)
The last I heard, Ken had received more than necessary to replace his pistol and had already made a purchase. So your check might not have been cashed. Or the post office might have eaten it. It could have been returned. Or it could have been used but still sitting somewhere waiting to be deposited.
Ok, here's the deal...
Ralph and I decided that we would continue to take donations and he has it posted in Riley's as the "Ken Gage Defense Fund"...
I know Ken has purchased a gun...I have not confirmed that donations have completely offset that(and there may be other items he would like to purchase such as ammo and gunleather...).
Tomorrow we will probably be traveling as a group to Riley's from Murphy's. If Ralph is there I will try to get up to date information...perhaps Ken might even be there when we are there...
As always, donations are welcome and will be used in a manner that I'm quite sure all donors will be pleased with!
As far as checks not being cashed...not everyone uses places that cash checks...I always send postal money orders and I've never had a problem...If possible, I will check on your check tomorrow...
Did Ken ever get his gun back from the police? Any other updates on this?

You should probably register and post your question over at
NH Tea Party (https://www.nhteaparty.org/). Powerchuter doesn't post over here anymore (long story), but is still active over there as NHArticleTen.
