We have been busy and can't seem to find as much time as we would like to have for fun. But one thing we have been doing is riding our bikes. I had forgotten how much fun it was to zoom along without a care in the world.
William has been riding on two wheels for about a month and already we've been on several longish rides. One was almost 10 miles. :)
It is nice to go exploring and I get to be a kid again for awhile.
What are some of the joys that others on the forum enjoy?

Well........since they did 'away' with Route 66..............I can't get my Kicks :P
Has William discovered playing cards and balloons for his spokes yet?
I got a mountain bike, sans de railer about 5 years ago, 5 bucks!. Bought a derailer about a year ago. Gonna buy a new cable today. Might get it all done in time for Fest.
Cool :)
Haven't done the motor sound thing in the spokes yet... I'll have to show him that one. Ahhh all the things to pass down between the generations. :D

Kayaking. Hiking.
I only got to try kayaking briefly. That balance thing is harder than it looks. :)
Try it with only one inner ear! :o

So, you are known for your revolutionary inverted kayaking technique.
Hear, hear for bicycling!!
Maxwell just got "his" bicycle... it's a 1-wheeler that attaches to the back of Daddy's bike.

He loves it, and so do I... big fun!!
I used to have one of those for Kira :)

Cool... now you can coast and have the kid do the work. :)
Yeah those are nice, the first time William rode along side the road I was thinkin' 'gee dad this might not be the safest thing.'
This was fun

D - what brand of this did you buy? I've looked at the trailer bikes like this at both REI and the local cycle shop that sells only the Trek bikes. I've been wondering about the quality vs. cost of the different brands.
And question for both you & Kat: Are those
really "quick release"? I ride on my own to the market several times each week, and need to be able to pop the third wheel off easily, or I'll avoid the hassle & just drive.

The one I had was quick release.
I have a burley that I tool the kids around in I bought it on ebay when my son was born. We rode everywhere in LA.

It is also great for going to the store and hauling stuff.
My dream is to ride it across country with my camping gear stowed in it.
Hiking and when I have time.. canoeing!

I love those big bubble things. I bought the kids one and ended up going outside and taking it away and playing with it myself until their complaints got too loud.
I like hiking even though I'm afraid of snakes which I've already seen hiking and it didn't slither away because Rick kicked dirt at it to scare it away and it turned around and had a "staring contest" with us for what seemed to be forever. ::)
Can you get a roof rack for your burley to haul your canoe?

I was actually thinking of ways to haul it. If I had 'back' wheels for the canoe I could put the front of the canoe on the burley.
Luckily the Contoocook River is only a half mile from my house but I have taken it on my car so far.

Yeah Kira was impressing all the kids with her giant bubbles...
Then I had a flashback. ;D

Hey, don't be makin' fun of Lawrence Welk... one day, through the miracle of life extension, they'll be playin' the stuff we listen to on his show.
And a one and a two... Free Bird!
teehee!
