Maybe we could make some little flyers with info and directions on them to hand out at Porcfest. I'd contribute some cash toward a fund to buy candles to hand out as well.

Red white and blue candles.  We're patriotic to our Republic, not our tyrannical govt.  Forge a bond with the masses when they see the video(s) of the vigil.  We'll be making the news, let's think it out ahead of time.  Printed press statements to fully inform any reporters and prevent misquoting would be excellent as well.  Emailing and faxing those statements as notice and backup is probably called for as well.

If you get me all choked up about freedom and the prospect for a Free State, and how in a month I'll be moving up to live my life with all you wonderful folks, I might cry on camera about the agents of Death bearing down upon the Browns.

It might even be interesting to have everyone visibly armed to the teeth but acting like Ghandi.  "It's my natural right to be armed, but you will not provoke me."  I think that having several hundred people peaceably assembled and sending that kind of statement would be powerful.

You can hit me up for money to fund this as well.

Their flames are all the same color.  ;)

+1 for the rest of your comments, though. I'm another who still loves this great nation, even while hating what the government has become.

I think it would have the most impact somewhere where we are likely to be seen by a lot of people. We should still film it of course.

maybe it would be better right at gunstock .... we could do it in the big parking lot or in the field by the front ... that way outsiders could find us easily.

media will probably be covering porcfest anyway so gunstock seems an acceptable location.

we would be able to turn out ten times as many candleholders there i suspect.

Wouldn't it be better to have fewer people (at the protest) that more people can see?

He means, wouldn't it be better to have the event where it would be more visible to the public, but with less protestors showing up, rather than have hundreds at PorCFest protest with less public exposure.

Depends if we're relying on live exposure or taped exposure.  My vote is for a BIG protest on tape that can be distributed widely, as well as be reported on live or on the News at 11.

We need better footage of FSP-related activities.  Most of the protests I've seen have been 5 or 6 people holding signs.  At least that's the footage it seems we've ended up with.  Having a well-documented BIG protest where the resulting footage can be collected and edited into something really good would benefit us in the long run.

Hmm.. that is a good point, I must admit. Do you really think it will make a big difference in the numbers to have it at Gunstock rather than Weirs Beach? I'm not familiar with either location. If it were a pretty public place that wasn't very far away, seems like we could get a lot of Porcfesters to participate but if it's much a drive that could be discouraging for many people.

While there isn't quite as much traffic on the highway leading to Gunstock as there is likely to be at Weirs, perhaps a good spot for the vigil would be at the turnoff coming in to Gunstock. It's still right there at PorcFest, but visible to every passing motorist.

Let's do it at Gunstock in the parking lot.
We will know where it is .... outsiders can find it ... we won't be stepping on anyone's toes in a busier location that we have not scouted out.
Thursday night at dusk ...

sunset is about 8pm NHFT 8:45government time
dark by 9:30

candles
paper cups
pro Brown    anti Fed       signs
guitars
kazoos
v-masks

Can we do it on Saturday, the 23rd too?  I'm not sure if I can make it Thursday, that's the 21st right?  I am night blind and won't be able to drive home and I don't think Rick would be able to take us Thursday.  He might though but we wouldn't get there until 8:30, what time would we blow the candles out?

I just asked Rick if we could go but he has to go to work the next morning so I'm trying to figure something out because I really want to do this.
I went to a candle light vigil in Maryland about the Iraq war and I really like them.  I could stay all night if we're going to do this all night long otherwise I'd have no where for the kids and I to sleep if Rick drops us off. :-\

Ed Brown Candlelight Vigil June 21

From NHfree.com
Guilford, N.H.
June 14, 2007

What:  Candlelight vigil against Washington's show of force in Plainfield
Where:  Gunstock Resort, Route 11A, Gilford, NH (Parking lot)
When:  Thursday June 21st, 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
Who:  People who don't want the Browns hurt.  Projected turnout: 60.
Why: Picked this spot b/c it coincides with Porcupine Festival (http://freestateproject.org/festival). Media can cover PF and vigil in one go.
Contacts:  Kat Kanning 603.357.2049, Gunstock office: 603.293.4341
Updated details: http://newhampshireunderground.com/forum/index.php?topic=3868.msg161251#msg161251

On Thursday, June 21st, roughly sixty New Hampshirites and visiting tourists will gather outside Gunstock ski resort for a candlelight ceremony.   They're protesting Washington's recent show of force in Plainfield.

Starting around June 7, U.S. Marshals brought snipers, armored vehicles and Massachusetts police into the rural New Hampshire town, and into the nearby city of Lebanon.  Their small army seized a once-prosperous dental office, placed camouflaged gunmen in the Plainfield woods and "evacuated" the innocent neighbors of tax protestors Ed and Elaine Brown.  They blocked roads, sealed airspace, barred reporters and pressured corporations to stop doing business with the Brown family.

Then they tasered and detained Danny Riley, an unarmed pedestrian and Brown supporter who discovered Federal gunmen hiding on the Brown property.  Riley claims they also opened fire when he fled, and that they've threatened him with forty years in jail for telling you his story.

All this because Washington covets the assets of a New Hampshire family and treasures its partial control over your finances.

In months preceding, Federal operatives have taken other controversial measures which have harmed innocent persons:

They've shut down Elaine Brown's successful and unique dental practice.
They've at least briefly put all of her employees out of work and cut off patients from access to her service.
They've threatened New Hampshirites with prosecution if they deliver food to the Browns.
They've co-opted the docile state police force into their service.
And they've sent *you* the bill for these costly endeavors, all aimed at scaring you into filing the hated 1040.

But something else is happening:  Angry phone calls, pouring into Federal offices by the thousands.  Neighbors, and strangers, coming to the aid of the beleaguered couple.  Demonstrations.  Activists, mobilizing and securing new bonds of mass communication, raising a voice of opposition which rings out even in the dispatches of the national press.

You're invited to join or witness this phenomenon first hand at our vigil on Thursday.  Media outlets unable to send a team will likely be able to cull images and info from the links and contacts above.
