Cool :)
Excellent video! I'm sending it on to my friends back home now.
Great video !!!! ;D
My God
Tom Saywer... you touched my heart and damn near made a grown man cry.
Thank You
Outstanding!
I posted this to the opencarry.org forum where Dave's police encounter was being discussed.
Roger, does this mean you got your tape out intact?
This is an awsome video. Very well done.
More. MORE!
;D
Hey! The image over the YouTube button is broken. So maybe people don't know it's there.

Finally got a chance to see it. Really great Roger :blueman:
Thanks folks... but, you know, I am just able to convey what ya'll are doing. The story of the pioneers in this movement is a compelling story that deserves to be told.
KB this tape didn't get munched, it is the content for the next installment. Lauren by the sparkling rapids on the Asheulot River followed by the Concord Porcs meeting and ending with Bill and Kate (new movers). They are repairing the camera, we shall see if the footage survived.
I showed it to Tim Condon. He absolutely loved it! He suggested it be embedded on the front page of the FSP site, instead of being in the news.

Thanks for the feedback Kat. :)
This video is really great. I think the biggest reason this is so powerful is because it shows PEOPLE. For those of us not in NH (but coming soon), this is really powerful. For people who want liberty and freedom, the FSP appears to be a great idea. Up until this point, I have only written messages on forums and emails about the FSP. I've communicated electronically with many of you who have already moved. I've made lots of plans. I've even interviewed and looked at houses. But it still remains mostly an "idea."
This video moves that along to the next step. It's really powerful to actually put real people and real faces on the screen (even if it's still just electronics). Seeing that meeting and hearing, "Another mover this week was xxxx" is massive. My first thought was, "Man, I want to be THERE. I want to be with those people. I want that guy to call MY name there."
Seriously, this video is really very powerful.
Thanks that is exactly what I was shooting for. :)
I see that shipple put this up on Digg... 8)

Can someone either send me the video or post it to myspace so I may make it the default video on the FSP Myspace page?
Very nice Roger.
Roger the video is just lovely. It is so well done.
I hope the film can be saved for the next one. If not feel free to come and interview us again.

I didn't get much. The audio was from the microphone at the front of the room. I got caught a little off guard when Shuvom referenced you, in addition the back lighting caused me problems. :)
I think many many people will download and enjoy this video over time from the fsp website.

I've finally made the big time... hey, Hollywood likes my stuff. ;D
:happy1: "...two thumbs up... Tom Sawyer and the guy in the striped shirt will clean house at the Golden Globes..." ;D
;D
If we can get the fsp potential reqruits to watch that video, the new mover rate should go up. 60-70 people is average for the manchester meeting. The interviews makes it real. Good job Tom. :)
Hey, you should come up to Taproom Tuesday sometime and film freedom lovers who aren't following a formal agenda. :)

Keene is definitely informal as well.
We disobeyed the signs last time and fed the ducks! >:D
Thanks David. :)
Beavis, funny you should say that, Russell and I were talking about that today. It would be nice to show folks having a good time. The real problem is the lighting, it's a little dim, the footage would be grainy. Also the camera has a way of changing the dynamic of the scene.
I'm sure we can get the lights turned up, that's not a big deal. And once people have had enough to drink, the camera being there really isn't going to have much of an effect. ;D
This and other videos in the same vein would work great running in a continuous loop at any FSP booth. 10-15 minutes is all you need.
The Ron Paul Revolution is making me believe that there may actually be 20,000 willing to move for liberty. This video can help.
:-\ If Dr. Paul loses, it would be great to get these people to NH so they don't lose their hope for liberty. :-[
/heresy
Awesome video! And I'm happy to see it's only volume 1.
If I might make a suggestion for a future video, coverage of one of those well-attended move-in parties would be great. When I see pictures of how many people show up to help people get settled it really puts this movement in the best light. A video version of such a photograph would do wonders (as will this volume 1 video).
I promote the FSP to every out of state Ron Paul supporter I speak to.

Yeah the move in parties
are a real highlight.
Just got my camera back from repair.
Limited time and resources mean I need to make my best guess what is the most likely to be a big deal event. Of course the most popular recent event was completely unscheduled, Dave Ridley's Open Carry Incident (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXnK5UyRI) almost 43,000 views.
Glad you got your camera back! Did they save the tape?

The tape is crunched near the beginning. I need to find a service and send it off to have it repaired and transfered to another tape. (I'm not risking my deck with that tape)
I've repaired the larger format tapes before, but these miniDV tapes are tiny and delicate.
Hopefully the majority of what I shot is ok. :)

Yep.
And we're developing a decentralized, disorganized media machine to take advantage of these "targets of opportunity" when they arise -- and, with more people carrying digital cameras more of the time, more such targets will be capitalized on when they inevitably happen.
I seem to recall a rag-tag army were the ones that finally beat the pants off the British...

I try to reach people on an emotional level.
There are libraries full of academic works that show what we believe is correct. It doesn't have the power that a moving song or film does.
Ya'll help me tell your story... it is a compelling tale.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Hampshire_census_statistical_areas
goes with about 400k for manchester ... if you throw in a little more ... voila halfa million
and for def ....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_area
for say LA ... some people would call it 4mill ... some 7,9,12,18
I say 18 mil for LA ... not lumping in san diego
in some ways manchester is part of boston, but not in my book
in many ways parts of se NH is boston ... I might have to agree
Keene is seperate from both of these ... about 77k for the area ... people mostly don't commute to boston or manchester from Keene

I believe that 400 k is for the county of Hillsborough, with about 110K
living in the city of Manchester it's self.
To compare, Nassau county to the west of me has 1.4 million people
and it is 493 square miles compared to Hillsborough's 892.
The county I live in Suffolk is 2373 square miles and has 1.5 million.

The videos are great guys!!! Makes me want to get up there that much faster. My lease is up in march and it is a serious consideration for me now. I work outside of Boston and could make the commute but would rather just move up there and start a business.
Glad you liked the videos. I hoped they would inspire folks.
I see that they are mentioned in this months FSP News. I also see that Shuvom is credited as producer. :(
So he:
- said he would pay you
- wanted you to cut out attractive scenes
- didn't help when the equipment broke
- wanted you to reshoot entire events
- complained when it took longer because of the broken equipment
- refused professional advice
- didn't pay you
- and took credit for the finished product
Is that right?
Nice.
Might be a mistake of some kind.
Although I think I fell out of favor when I politely said I couldn't come over and video the mayor addressing a meeting. Everything changed after that.
Kind of reminds me of my days in D.C. doing political ads. :P
Guess folks need to hire a company to produce a video to see how much it costs. Elizabeth doesn't want me to do any FSP video work anymore.
Stop it, Tom. You're causing a schism! When you politely declined to do as you were told, you stopped being a team player and started a schism. Or rather you widened it or something like that.

Tom, your videos are polished work, you will hear no criticism from me for refusal to do unpaid work.
I don't have a problem with many in the fsp doing politics to defend themselves or whatever they call it these days, but their willingness to inhibit what the doers are doing is ridiculous. I like Shuvom, but if the thing about the refusal to shoot a shot of the mayor grandstanding is true, then shame on him for his behavior.
I guess they will have to butt kiss politicians on their own time.
The FSP doesn't endorse butt kissing politicians

It is appreciated and renews my hope that the FSP is a responsive organization.

In the January edition of the FSP News, we have an incorrect attribution to the fantastic video series Finding Life and Liberty in the Free State Project. These videos were produced by Roger Grant. We deeply appreciate Roger's generosity and his talents. Here are the video links: Part 1, Part 2
It's always refreshing to see people acting sensibly. :)
Very nice. It's good to know that some people seem to appreciate who actually made the videos.
The least they should have said was that the videos where commissioned by Shovum, not produced.
kinda funny
Shuvom did like the idea of showing free staters having fun .... and said he would pay a little money to help make it happen ... but for some reason he didn't pay. So....
