I need a Shire drivers license.
Whoever designs the best one Kat will print it up and put it in one of those laminated pockets we use for making Keene Free Press press cards.
Business card sized
Should it be in the name of
Howler T Monkey ?
that would work
Seth told me tonight if he ever is arrested he is telling them my name.
anyone is free to use that name tell them .... Russell .... Kanning .... with a "K"
2 lls ... unless you donate one to the small l libertarian society
It also might be helpful to send one in to Lauren. :)
Can anyone tell me why this thread made me cry?

At the last porcfest, nightly um power discusions, I made it
formal policy, that anyone who gets arrested was to give your name.
I guess not every one got the memo.

I'm curious. Does this mean you have some objection to a Kingdom of Heaven DL and tag? What would that objection be?
I thought they would be right up your alley.
If the Florida gang decides not to renew mine next year, I may need one of these as well.
Perhaps whoever ends up creating one can post a Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro file for easy editing...

I do like the Kingdom of Heaven guys. That is where we got the idea for alternative id. Caleb even has some of their stuff.
When I read everything on their website, I think the reason I didn't get one of their licenses is because they want me to commit to something I can't promise. I forget what it was.
I have wanted one for a while. I started this thread in hopes that someone with design skills could create one. I guess everyone is taking me so seriously that they are not just running with it.
I can't do graphics. I am a bean counter and wanna be constructor.
I think it will be helpful to hand the thugs a shire license ... to let them know what they are getting into. :)
Treat my brain like a newborn on this as I'm truly posting to learn. Isn't there a HUGE difference between not taking state-issued tracking and impersonating state-issued tracking?
It's only "forged" if it tries to pass itself off as a (in this case) New Hampshire license. I'm sure what folks here have in mind is something that probably is filled to the brim with references to limited powers, freedom of travel, etc. That is, it won't even come close to looking similar to a copy of state papers.

I'm considering one too. Haven't decided.

Russell is in Wikipedia?!?
Yup, with the "biographical article about a United States activist" tag, in the "American tax resisters" and "American activist" categories.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Kanning
Lauren is, too:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauren_canario
Wikipedia requires a certain number of news, academic, or popular culture cites to allow an article to stand before they yank it. I don't know what the magic number is, but both pages are still up without warnings (except for a clean-up request on Lauren's page).
I'll work on it some more today. I have to go to work now though. :'(
I think anything that references the shire will do the trick for tying them together.
I like loyds idea for a expiration date .... "Expires: Tomorrow".

Zebra/Eltron has plastic card printers, and even smart-card production systems:

Handy place to store your PGP keys, perhaps?
The Zebra P520i is a pretty swanky unit - full color, 2-pass duplex, laminated, etc.
Costs about $7,000, though.
I absolutely love Puke's design. The stylized "Shire" is awesome! I want one of those for sure.
Will the Shire waiting lines move faster than those at the State DMVs? :P
Here is version two. If you plan to use this Russell please let me e-mail you the un-compressed version. It will look much better.
If you want a signature on the card I would suggest right above the name. SInce I can't forge people's signatures I'll just leave that up to you.
I would also suggest that if you want one of these for yourself, PM me your info and as large a face picture as you can. Preferably a picture taken as close to your face as possible without looking stupid and a blank background would also be good.
The pic for Russell is a bit far away, but the sign works fantastically with the theme. :)
I just thought, should there be a backside to this?
What should be on the back?
I don't know. Maybe I could put an address ..... like the one at the county jail.
I absolutely love the license. I will have to print it out and use one of those cool 3m jackets we get from Walmart.

I don't know how big it will be when printed out. The full size image is 8 inches by 5 inches I think.
I have never designed anything that was meant to be printed out at a specific size.
I sent a JPEG and the Photoshop file your way.
Let me know if it doesn't work properly.

Puke, would it be possible to use Photoshop to save the file in a non-destructive compressed (or not) format - I'm thinking one of those odd formats no one ever seems to use, such as TIFF or maybe even BMP. That way Russell could open it with the GIMP, too.

You mean like PNG?
I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I use an Apple?
I'm not very familiar with different file types so I might be screwing up on my end.
But I can and will try to save it as a PNG.

Mac OS and Windows aren't compatible, Puke. I want one of those Shire licenses.
Will pay whatever. I'd rather support the shire folk than the robber barons at the DMV.
I think I would like to jump on that wagon too, and get me an Id from the puke man. Will pay of course. I'll have to have a nice picture taken of me holding a sign saying something about bad law, and that they should be disobeyed. Maybe one of these sundays. If you are still doing them, and are not too expensive.
Puke made the file for Russell, and we printed it and laminated it ourselves.
Maybe I can get Laurens signature on the back affirming that I can in fact drive in a safe manner. ;D Of course she will have to actually observe me driving.
I love my new license ... it is a conversation piece .... it might be a good luck charm too ... no cops have asked to see it yet ... only friends. :)
I forgot to ask to see the real one last time we were in person. :duh: Maybe next time.
If you want a DL from me (File only I don't have a laminator or the like.) send me a PM with a picture (The bigger the better.) and what you want on the DL.

I also need to put on there somewhere that the ID card is in no way affiliated with any violent government gangs.

It is good. It could be taken as all property and rules should be ignored though.
I think I'll add the word "government" in there.
"I am free, no matter what [government] rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."
