Title: Libertarian Matchmaker
Post by: joeyforpresident on June 30, 2005, 03:42 AM NHFT

So, any of you have any single FSP-libertarian-Constitionalist girl friends that might find black hair, blue eyes, 5'10", and presidential aspirations attractive?

:)

Yes, my hair is now black.

Not that I'm in a hurry, but I also could benefit from the help of a matchmaker.

6' Brown hair, blue eyes, 40 y.o. insurgent  ;)

Dear Friends,

It occurs to me to mention Libertarian Passions, which is a libertarian dating site of sorts.
 http://www.libertarianpassions.com/ (http://www.libertarianpassions.com/)

There isn't much going on there, to be sure.

Also, MySpace has proven to be an excellent resource for meeting people.  It might work well for you.  It is an excellent networking resource for bands, films, and I gather Free State Wyoming has made some recruits there.

You can find me at either site as planetaryjim.

Regards,

Jim

Yes, my hair is now black.

One of my non-political friends thought you were cute when she saw your picture in the "friends" section of my myspace page -- but she lives in FL and is hard to catch  ;)

Well, if they are sufficiently libertarian, one wonders whether that matters.  8)

Maybe i can open up a escort service of some sort in NH!  There apparently is a need for women around here!!

Now I know all you single men are looking for smart women who share same political views..   Would any men be interested in going to a place, Like a club, and (for a small cover) meet single libertarian minded women?  Im just trying to see if there is a real need here.  OR BETTER YET!!  8 MINUTE DATING FOR LIBERTARIANS!!  Hell, id do that!  scratch that strip club style idea..  See what stupid things I think of on drugs for a busted butt?  OK, Lets do this.  Let me know if anyone is interested in 8 minute dating.  For anyone who doesnt know what 8 min dating is, Well, in a nutshell, you go around the room and for 8 minutes get to sit with a lovely lady, and chit chat.  if you  want to go on a real date, you submit your scorecard and check off all the ladies you liked, if there is any matches with your card then the private info is exchanged, email phone...  I did it once, it was fun, I got quite buzzed!

Also, we could do things like libertarian rock climbing night, or ice skating nights, or singles ski trips..  Id love to be the arranger for all these things.  I wouldnt take part in them, just organize them, as i got a good significant other!  Hell we could have a singles night at Kevins house, plenty of empty beds upstairs, LOL.   We could turn his nice house into a whore  house! You may wish to lodge your complaint with someone in a position to do something about it.  Beth221 seems to have a half dozen orderly proposals for ... handling ... your complaint.

Me, I like the disorderly proposals.  If anyone wants to start a brothel, I'm ready to be the piano player.  (What every brothel needs is a really big pianist!)  :icon_pirat:

Yes well, take my advice: I stuck with an all-protein diet for two years, worked out, walked,  and was in pretty good shape, until my stomach turned on itself!

So I was relegated to eating ONLY carbs for the last 4 months until the pain went away (and the holes in my ileum...)

Consequently, I have some work to do to get rid of the extra weight.

Heh, all the more to love!   :-*

ok i think 8 minute dating is a real good idea, so PM me, and if we get a GOOD ratio of men to women, then i will arrange all the details.  I just need to figure out a way of doing the score card online, send suggestions for that, if you have any.  Its easy to rent a hall for a few hours.  I will get the details together.  Its not free, and advertising is real sweet idea.  Can anyone host a website for advertising??  It would be good to have something for our events, to get more single people interested in 8 minutes of crazy fun!!

Also, we can do other versions of 8 minute dating, not to leave any group of people out!!  I know a few lesbian liberty lovers!!

So, let me know, tell your friends, gay and straight!

Dear Beth,

Thanks for your forebearance, and for bothering to read what I write.  Also for reminding me of the private message utility.

Really, I've no idea how you look, so I cannot comment on your thought that you look bad now.  Perhaps you'll look great later?  Some people are better at different times.

When I was in college, I went to a fraternity party.  Well, it was the literary fraternity, after all.  Some of the people there were literate.  I got very inebriated and began dancing with this really pretty girl.  Later, we began making out in the hall upstairs.  Later still, we went back to her dorm at Barnard College, the girl's school of Columbia University at the time.  Proved to be very easy to get past security, too.  They simply wanted me to agree that I was going to come straight back to the security checkpoint after leaving her room, which, in my drunken state, I found quite easy to accept.  The next morning, I woke up.  Sun was shining in her dorm room window.  Directly on her face.  She wasn't pretty, at all!  It just goes to show, I've never gone to bed with anyone who wasn't very pretty, but I've woken up with some.

I don't have much karma because I'm new here, long winded, and I didn't take well to some of the anti-Ed people in the Ed thread.  Maxed out at 3.  And, after that story, well...heh.   :icon_pirat:

Panty crickets?  What on Earth?  I've just been informed explicitly (well, last year) what a camel toe is.  Now I have to learn about panty crickets.  Anything like crabs?  I had some really good crabs at a seafood restaurant in Houston.  Then again we feasted on camel one time in Somaliland back in 2001, before the vice president exiled me.

Tell you what, though, I'll skip the 8-minute dating.  Go back to Rick Nelson's approach.  "Can't please everyone, so ya gotta please yourself."  And don't be cruel.  Masturbation is making love to someone I respect, most of the time.

Regards,

Jim

PS for more Karma you might try skipping the color and sticking to black -- in the recent past only the trolls on this board use color. I will admit I have started to wonder -- why the use of entirely colored text?

+1 for being multi-faceted and actually joining the community here. Quite a few who joined for the Ed Brown thread (and a certain private school thread) were single-issue, drive-by grenade throwers.

Plus, you wrangle words quite ably.

Trolls (and other drive-by grenade throwers) do that so they can find their posts more easily. They're not interested in discussion, only in spreading spoor.

Dear Friends,

Here are some things.  I write in purple because I like purple.  Freedom of expression means that I get to express myself to please myself.  It also means that I may choose to overlook someone else's choices in self-expression.  (On this board system, I may "ignore" someone and thereby more easily avoid their choices.)  So, as long as I'm free to choose, I shall choose to be posting in the color of freedom, independence, and self-sovereignty, as it pleases me best.

Rosie, I am, of course, not responsible for the actions of others in the recent past.  (Maybe if all the colors were already taken, the trolls wouldn't have any.)

KBCraig, thanks for your kind words, for reading my stuff, for making me feel welcome, and for being so multi-faceted and community-oriented, yourself.  You rock!

Beth, you are absolutely correct.  It is more fun with someone of the opposite sex.  The joys of love, friendship, sex, and orgasms multiply when shared.  (See!  KBCraig's right about word wrangling.  I worked in multiple orgasms there.  Clever, heh?  ;D )

Despite what Doug Stanhope says http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8APlx9btTn8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8APlx9btTn8) in its favor, however, "the actual digit in the male urethra" does not sound like fun.  Didja know he's running for the Libertarian Party nomination?  He restores my confidence in the electoral process.  :icon_pirat:

Regards,

Jim

Dear Kevin,

Your avatar is distinctive enough for folks to recognize your posts. (And I like it -- it's quite Galt-esque.)

There is actually a bit of story behind it, found here:  http://indomitus.net/thecrest.html (http://indomitus.net/thecrest.html) for those who like a bit of a story.

The short of it is that the nautical letter flag for "I" is yellow with a black ball centered.  Of course, "I" is a word that I call myself, and also the first letter of individualism.  Black flags are widespread among anarchists and pirates, and to place a bit of differencing there (since I'm not really an anarchist, as I favor self-government, and not a pirate, as I respect private property) I added the gold dollar sign - from Galt's Gulch, to be sure.

And that's the short version.

Regards,

Jim

I know that some Christian people do "evangelistic dating", in hopes to somehow convert the non-christians they're dating. Libertarians should do the same thing. It's the duty of all young single Libertarian men to go find the most socialist tree-hugging vegan woman you can, and make her a gun-toating, liberty-loving, free-marketer.

Although she wasn't a tree-hugging vegan, my wife claims that I've done this to her (she had never shot -- or wanted to shoot -- a gun before meeting me; now she "loves it") and she's even more of an ideologue now than I am.

When Mary and I were courting, she swore she was a Democrat, but she was mostly apolitical. I knew she really wasn't, because she was a single mother refusing government support, a small business owner who risked everything to get started, and generally contemptuous of regulations and taxes. With just a bit of gentle discussion, her eyes opened and now she's an avowed libertarian and avid Ron Paul supporter.

No, she doesn't have a sister.  >:D

I know that some Christian people do "evangelistic dating", in hopes to somehow convert the non-christians they're dating. Libertarians should do the same thing. It's the duty of all young single Libertarian men to go find the most socialist tree-hugging vegan woman you can, and make her a gun-toating, liberty-loving, free-marketer.

you can help a socialist but you cant help a vegan....

Dear Friends,

Actually, I would dispute the idea that you can help a socialist by dating, but you cannot help a vegan in that way.  This statement by supperman15 suggests that vegan tendencies are not intellectually obtained through a consideration of information about food choices, food harvesting practices, nutrition, and such.   It also seems to suggest that socialist tendencies are.  Perhaps vegan-ism is a religious commitment.  But, that's okay, so, clearly, is socialism.  Indeed, there is absolutely no evidence that murdering hundreds of millions of people and stealing from billions of people did a thing to make the world more livable or better for anyone in the 20th Century.  So, if you seek to persuade, perhaps showing some of the information about the proteins and other nutrients available in eating meat would actually work on a vegan.  I have no idea how to persuade a socialist to stop massacring and stealing - except with lead poisoning delivered at 2800 fps.   8)

Beth, I love your choice in candidates.  If that's what you chose for a brassiere, one does wonder what your panties were like that day.

Regards,

Jim

It's been my entirely anecdotal experience that almost every person who is vegetarian or vegan is so not because they correctly applied any sort of reason or logic or even studied food to any great extent, but because they have religious beliefs along the lines of "Meat is murder." These people, having abandoned reason and logic -- or worse, abused it to support their religious beliefs, are almost impossible to get through to.

Something similar is true of socialists. They have religious beliefs like "The poor should be helped" and "Workers should control production." But these people didn't always abandon reason and logic, or intentionally abuse it. Most of them have merely been brainwashed and misled, in crude violent government indoctrination centers at that, and getting through to them is not nearly as difficult. Simply show the truth: that government doesn't and can't help people, only hurt them.

There are some people who are raised vegetarian and have trouble adjusting to meat.  I saw a girlfriend of mine get sick for 4 days because she was 16 the first time she had meat.  She wanted to have a burger and hasn't had any meat since.

I know some vegetarians who control some medical conditions with great success eating no meat.  My aunt is much better condition than her siblings because she is much more careful about her diet.

Having said that there is no hope for vegans.  Those raw food only people are really weird too.

I think Ron Helwig is a vegetarian for health reasons.

That is a very big part of it. Diabetes is rampant in my family. I've been a vegetarian since 1994, and I am in way better health than any other member of my family.

But I also don't buy the idea that rights are a binary deal (all or none). Sapience, one of the primary components of rights determination, isn't a yes/no proposition either - some animals have greater levels of sapience than others. I also believe sentience is a component of rights determination. (Sapience is to thinking as sentience is to sensing/feeling - most people use 'sentience' when they really mean 'sapience')

I still want to see a well developed 'Grand Universal Theory of Rights'. It should cover all kinds of possibilities like children, domesticated animals, robots, AIs, aliens, etc. While I'm not willing to go all the way on the precautionary principle, there are some things that should be obvious like no undue harm.

I agree with this—I would use sapience as the determinant of whether or not something possesses rights. This is why I’m not a vegetarian, but at the same time I wouldn’t kill or eat the meat from primates, especially the great apes, and cetaceans, as these animals seem to have demonstrated at least a rudimentary degree of sapience. And I am ready to extend rights protection to any sort of AI that may be invented, aliens that may be discovered, and so on.

I wouldn’t use sentience as the determinant because I think it extends too far downward into the animal kingdom, and even to some plants. Insects can feel and yet their actual physiology, including their nervous system, is incredibly simplistic, and has actually been reverse-engineered in order to be used to design some robotic systems. Perhaps coupling sentience with the ability to experience emotion could be used as an indicator: can the animal not only experience physical suffering, but also experience psychological trauma as a result of it?

Hmmm, interesting topic.

I always thought that carbohydrates were the killers for diabetics and for people who can't tolerate them and gain weight on them (me) and that a high protein diet, provided it's lean meat, fish, chicken, etc, is MUCH better for you. At least I know I feel better on that...while bread, pasta, starches, just make me more hungry and have less energy.

(As she munches on a bagel..)

People do have varying responses to food inputs. I know that too many carbs can be bad for me, but that too many fats is even worse. Being overweight puts lots of stress on various bodily systems that makes diabetes worse. I do know that lots of veggies is good for me.

I think most people don't do enough research to figure out what their own diets should be. By research I don't mean just looking up nutrition facts, but actually testing out foods. Try avoiding or adding just one food for a few weeks and see what effect it has. Anything less than 2 weeks isn't likely to tell you much other than maybe you're allergic  :D

FARMED is worse for you.  go for any deep sea fish..  farmed means that the fish are kept in close shore nets, where they are raised.  Street run off and such accumulates at the shore and cost line where the fish farms are.  Fish farms may sound good, but only if they were in a building or something, where water could be monitored!

Deep in the ocean, the water is cleaner and has less of a build up.

Flax seeds are great, I add them to oatmeal, or yogurt!

try a organic cod liver oil, salmon oil is good too, and some nuts like almonds have omega's.

ever try MSM or a chondroiten/ glucosamine mix?  you have to do both, because they work together, alone, they dont do poop for joints.
http://ww2.arthritis.org/conditions/alttherapies/glucosamine.asp

concerned about heavy metals in your body?  try raw or dried wheat grass, check out the usages:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheatgrass

info about flax seeds, and fatty acids:
# Flaxseed oil (flaxseed oil has the highest linolenic content of any food), flaxseeds, flaxseed meal, hempseed oil, hempseeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, Brazil nuts, sesame seeds, avocados, some dark leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach, purslane, mustard greens, collards, etc.), canola oil (cold-pressed and unrefined), soybean oil, wheat germ oil, salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, albacore tuna, and others.
# One tablespoon per day of flaxseed oil should provide the recommended daily adult portion of linolenic acid, although "time-released" effects of consuming nuts and other linolenic-rich foods is being studied, and considered more beneficial than a once-daily oil intake.

Oh, pumpkin seeds, (raw if you can stand it! shells off, not fried or cooked, cooking kills!) are high in good oils too!

speaking of Raw foods, I took my dog off kibble completely.  SHe is now eating raw beef, chicken, rabbit, and veggies, and raw bones.

she would look at the kibble and i would have to flavor it for her to eat it.. but now she is excited about her food!!!  and so far, no more explosion of poops, she has a broken pancreas from 3 lbs of bacon..  she has not been able to digest kibble no matter what brand...  she pooped on my kitchen walls last week! I'll second the Natural Balance recommendation, though I won't comment on doodies.
Petco sells it at a reasonable price, and we just switched our kitty to it as well.

They even made a canned food that is 'People grade', meaning worse comes to worse, you can open it and eat it yourself.  Due to an unrelated to the China thing recall - this was botulism in a human food (hot dog chili) made in the same plant, looks like it's not currently available.
http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/eatables/home.html

I did see this in my local supermarket in the book aisle:

The Dog Ate It: Cooking for Yourself and Your Four-Legged Friends (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html%3FASIN=1592402291%26tag=fuzzyandfurry-20%26lcode=xm2%26cID=2025%26ccmID=165953%26location=/o/ASIN/1592402291%253FSubscriptionId=1XFK01HK9NZWGPENWGG2)
Won't work for vegetarians, but for the rest of us, you can cook one meal, give some to your dog, and eat the rest yourself - and then you KNOW it's good food.

And to bring this back to the singles theme: invite your date over for dinner, and impress her when you serve up 3 plates: 1 for her, 1 for you, 1 for the dog.  A sure fire way to show her you care enough about her to serve the very best.

My dog is now on a RAW diet, yep you guess it, raw ground meat, muscle, organs, and bones, and raw greens.  She can not digest cooked fats anymore, no matter what dog food i tried, three weeks on aunt jeni's and she is a NEW dog!

my floor and rugs thank me!

I can teach anyone how to read and decipher the labels on dog foods, be careful of the 4D, which will sometimes be listed as just that, it means it has dead, diseased, dying and/or disabled.. I would never eat meat like that, so why feed it to my dog?  For a cooked dog or cat food, I recommend Flint River, its baked, and not extruded, which expands in the stomach.

I had my dogs on the raw food or barf, (bones and raw food), diet for about 4 years in Maryland they did great.  I don't know where to get meat for them here, our neighbor use to give us his left over deer bones and stuff.   Now Rick's german shepard is doing horrible, trouble walking, senile acting.

We used to buy bulk natural chicken necks and backs, grind it up and mix it with blended carrots and kale.  Were those the right ingredients or was I missing some stuff they need?  My pit/lab lost too much weight on it.  I need to find a cheap place to get them meat again before Rick's dog is crippled.

Your right Beth, Rick's dog would hop around and act like a puppy now she acts so weak and old. :-\  Any suggestions? :-\

Rainey, how long has it been since that German Shepherd changed diets, and how old is he? GSDs are not long-lived dogs, and they are prone to crippling disorders like hip dysplasia, which can onset quickly between ages 6-10. A GSD that dies at age 10 is considered to have lived a long full life; 8 years is not an uncommon lifespan for GSDs, and any GSD living beyond 12 years should be treated like a 100+ human.

We changed her diet when we moved here so about 1 and1/2 years.  She's 13 years old.  My Nocona, ( black german shepherd), was almost 16 when he passed away.  I'm just thinking maybe she's has gotten so much worse as soon as we switched her diet to regular dog food that maybe that's her problem not her age.  Even though your right it could be her age but it just seems coincidental that she got all of these new problems as soon as we moved here and switched her diet, doesn't it? :-\

giving a calcium suppliment?
giving an oil suppliment, like fish oil, or wheat germ oil?  Both oils are good for arthritus.

www.auntjeni.com is what i give my dog, maybe there is a supplier in NH.  Or you could as a natural pet shop to carry it, like that fancy dog shop in N conway, arnt you near there??

steamed squah is excellent summer or zucc, pumpin is good, but can be too filling, great for loose poops, carrots are good for weight gain, give organ meat along with the chicken necks and backs, makes it a "whole food" rather than just muscle meat, and bone.  Heart, liver and other chicken or turkey or beef parts are good. feed raw bones, like cow or chicken necks, or wings, after a meal.  2oz per 5 lbs of food, is about what a dog should get, some need more, some need less.  Garlick is a good antibacterial to grind up with the raw meat.
Have a local butcher?  they usually throw out marrow bones because no one cooks with them anymore, cow or goat, sheep, lamb neck bones are good, and chicken soup bones, (chicken bones, raw) are all good.  LAMB is the highest in fat, so grind up some lamb, for that skinny puppy!

you can add sardines, (in water) to the dogs food.  Wellness is a good overall natural dog food, or Ultra, or Nutro, or Flint river.  but in my opinion, all are high in carbohydrates, which are NOT found in a wild dogs diet.  For extra protien, hard boiled eggs, or raw egg yokes, not the whites, it does someting funny with biotin in dogs, cottage cheese, or ricotta cheese is all good.  Steamed spinnach is good too.  have to cook and make a paste out of veggies, because dogs dont digest veggies well, so get out the food processor.

does this help at all?

(excuse the bad spelling.. too lazy for spell check, the gig is up, hooked on phonics did NOT work for me..)

steamed squah is excellent summer or zucc, pumpin is good, but can be too filling, great for loose poops, carrots are good for weight gain, give organ meat along with the chicken necks and backs, makes it a "whole food" rather than just muscle meat, and bone.

Thanks Beth, this does help out a real lot! :)  I'm going to print this out for next time I go shopping.  I don't think there are any butchers around here but I know there is an organic deer farm and maybe I can get her some stuff from there.

look in the phone book, you may be suprised where butchers are located, there is a tun in NH, because of the hunting community.  ask your local food store, they will sell bones real cheep too.

io have a list of good websites for animal health, if you are interested.
