Title: NHLA/Seacoast Porcupines Adopt-A-Highway
Post by: Brian Pellerin on July 13, 2005, 01:57 PM NHFT
The New Hampshire Liberty Alliance now has a section of highway in Lee.  We have a little under 2 miles of Rt. 4, between the junctions of 4 & 155 and 4 & 155A.  For those of you who know the area, this is the area across from the UNH horse barns.  For those of you who don't know the area, here's a link to Mapquest:

I will be heading down to the DOT next week for the safety talk.  After that, the DOT will order the signs, but I've been informed we can do a pick-up before the signs arrive.

I need volunteers and a date.  After this week, my schedule is wide open, so we just need a day where at least 3 other people can help.  (Although I won't complain if you all want to help.  The more the merrier.)
This is our opportunity to show that volunteerism can be a practical replacement for government mandates.

(Adding this to the calendar for August 14th.  KD)

Thank you very much for doing this, Brian!

Someone pick a date and I'll do my best to be there!  Sun, Mon, and Tue evenings are bad for me for the next month or two.

This is great news!!!  :)

Thanks much Brian for your effort.  Expect we can come up with a date and some volunteers at
our meeting Saturday.

It was Kats Idea how ever to make the workers wear chains and for her to wear mirrored sunglasses and carry that shotgun. ;D

BTW.. if slowly every group Adopts a highway then slowly Porcs will own all highways in NH.... then we can get rid of the cleaning crews that the State pays.  :D

Team leader Brian has decreed August 14th as our first clean up day!? Of course he has to go take
the state safety course first!? Don't want to loose any porcs to just walking out in front of traffic,
cause they haven't been trained! ;D

Does the Merrimack Porc Group  have a highway?
Are they feeling left out?

Well hey, hello real world.  Was at the last two Merrimack meetings and asked for a volunteer to head up an
adopt-a-highway in that area, I got total silence, so guess your answer is that no one is up for stepping forward
there.

Kat stepped forward, Brian stepped forward, perhaps when you get here you will step forward! :)

Perhaps no glory in heading up a crew to clean the highway, but do believe every little bit helps, and
think the folks that have stepped forward ROCK! :)

Dave.....

Done.  When I get there we can talk about this as it is 99% likely I will end up in Merrimack County somewhere.
However I want Pat or Kat with a shotgun!

Brian's note re first pickup:

Greetings porcupines,

Sunday the 14th is the date of our first highway clean-up of the year.  Assuming
the weather is nice, we'll be gathering at 8am on the section of highway we've
adopted, so set your alarm clocks.

I will supply water, reflective vests, trash bags, and a state mandated safety
talk (hint: don't run blindly into traffic).  I've scouted the section of
highway
and it looks pretty clean already, so we should have an easy time.  I hope you
all can still make it.

We adopted the section of Rt. 4 in Durham/Lee between the intersections of Rt. 4
& Rt. 155 and Rt. 4 & Rt. 155A.  That's 1.3 miles starting at the UNH barns and
ending well before the Lee traffic circle.
You can contact me for specific directions or look it up on mapquest.

Please pass this info on to anyone who's e-mail address I don't have, or anyone
who might want to help.  The more people we have, the quicker it'll go.

Please reply to this e-mail if you're coming.

Thank you,
Brian Pellerin

This will be a NHLA (Civic Action) project.  Given that it is in the Seacoast Region, believe it
only natural that the Seacoast Porcs spearhead this effort.  Of course all are welcome to help.
Believe Carol and Dan from Manchester will be coming over to help Sunday.

Believe this is an excellent opportunity to get our name out there, and also show that we are
not just a political organization.

It'd be covered up by the safety vest anyway.

That sure is a nice, new road in the background.
I wonder how much money the jack booted thugs had to steal to build that  ???

I understand it's paid for by the gas tax for the most part.  At least it's somewhat of a pay for what you use tax.

Taxation is armed robbery.

Is that just for state roads?

Is that just for state roads?

You can buy gasoline and diesel without paying the road tax. It's for off-road use only. Farmers and loggers and construction contractors use non-road fuel in their tractors and heavy equipment. You can inquire at your local farm co-op, if they have such things up there. The fuel is dyed, and leaves a tell-tale color in your exhaust pipe. You do NOT want to get caught using it in a road-going vehicle.

Trouble is, because of the more restricted supply chain for untaxed fuel, there's little savings unless you're buying it by the tankerful.

Woohoo!  The NHLA's / Seacoast Porcupines'  adopt a highway cleanup was a success yesterday!  :) :) :)

There were six of us including Brian, Dan, Carol, John, Dave, and myself.  Thank you all very much for your voluntary hard work for liberty!

Brian makes a great volunteer leader and took care of the situation very well.  Unfortunately, he forgot the chains as well as his shotgun and sunglasses, but I'm sure he'll bring them to our next cleanup in October.

I was the only one injured after getting a long wood sliver under one of my fingernails.  I performed a lengthy surgery on myself to remove it, and my wife patched it up with a gel nail.  Artificial nails have proven to be a great home remedy for various nail conditions!   ;)  It's not like we can afford health insurance anyways.   :-\

Anyways, we had a lot of fun and talked a little bit about the symbolic nature of cleaning up garbage on public roads voluntarily.  Some people are voluntarily taking responsibility in order to directly solve problems and simultaneously teach others, by example, not to be irresponsible!

We talked about our amazing ability to work together when we agree on very little while most people who believe in the most popular political idiologies work together well because they agree on everything.  Often they do not even think and they just accept entire political platforms as their opinions.

We all agreed that we look forward to the day when we've gained enough ground to compete against each other.   :)
