Russell and I have been discussing funding options for the paper. I can't keep doing all the work for the paper and footing the big bill every month. I think we're going to have to just put out an issue when we've got the donations/ads to pay for each issue. I set up a donation thing at http://newhampshirefreepress.com if anyone wants to help out.
Thanks,
Kat
We will scrape our pennies together and donate funds in a week or so.
Thanks for all the work and money that ya'll have put in to the paper. :)
Do you think you could set up a chipin like FTL and FMTV have that automatically takes a certain amount each month? I'll commit to $5/month if you do that.
Trying to figure out how to do that. I did have something similar set up here:
http://keenefreepress.com/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=648&Itemid=54
I'm in for $10 per month. Keep the NHFree Press alive!!
Thanks, Ian :)
I'd be down for $5/month & I'm not even in NH (yet)!
Yeah, I thought there should be a $5 option, as not everyone can swing $10.
regardless, i went ahead and added to the chipin total. hope it helps!
OK, I set up a page with various donation buttons. Thanks for all the help, guys!

Kat I was wondering what are the approximate costs for a single issue printing?
Almost $500.
Subscribed.
i think i have given to you in cash before and wish i had given you some when i saw you in keene if i do not see you fairly soon i will get some $$$ to you no reason you should foot the bill for our pleasure of reading your paper count me in and at some point if you do somthing like the amp on ftl I will give monthly. you guys deserve more than you get i know that . Jose
Why isn't your local newspaper surviving on the Web? Because there are too many media outlets selling the exact same news.

People have sent in $350 so far for the May issue. Plus we've had a couple new subscribers. Thanks so much everyone. :)
If it is not to intrusive to ask, how much is the online hosting and related costs? I remember Russell saying it was much cheaper.
Plaster the web site address over every bumper sticker and on the paper itself.
It's only about $5/month for the underground, LSF and NHFP sites. The Keene Free Press site is separate, but still cheap.

Absolutely! This will drive up those who get to see the ChipIn widget and can contribute.
Do you ship subscriptions everywhere? I'm currently in MD but I'd be interested in subscribing if it gets here. :)
Yes, anywhere in the US.
We would ship anywhere in the world ... for a price .... but that is why we invented the internet :)

You cannot get more webcentric than I ... but advertising the website in the paper doesn't make old people visit the site. ;)
Our website could be huge and have tons of visitors and it would always be cheaper than the paper.
The old site costs $5/month.
The new site is cheaper now that we are not using Seth. $5/month
Websites are cheap and fast.
I hate paper for most things.
On a side note, our paper box in Concord doesn't get out the paper very well in the present location. Anyone have a good spot to put it in NH?
Our box in Manch does much better, like our one in Keene.
Obviously I can't suggest specific locations as I have never been to NH, but what I do with Lattitude is take it to all the businesses that would tend to have atleast semi-open minded people around. Bookstores, record stores, bike and skate shops, coffee chops, tattoo shops and our local anarchist community center, even a few clothing stores.
As well, the same works for out of town distro. I only use two stand alone boxes around Louisville, everything thing else is retail distro.
You have an anachist community center?! Wowie! :D
I'm working on it, I'm working on it...
;)
I got to see some copies of your print edition, flaherty :) Looks great!
just so you know kat the papers you gave me i have been leaving every retaurant i go to i leave one on the table and anyone who asks or talks to me about fsp i give them a paper i am now in san jose and am giving them to my liberty minded friends out here. Jose
Cool :) Maybe I should include an FSP ad since the paper's going outside NH.
if it will help ;)
I have $95 out of $400 for the June issue.
Thanks guys, we're up to $255/$400 now.
With the new printer, it's costing a few dollars less for the printing, but it's going to be a slightly different size - Russell calculated it's 20% larger. So far, they haven't been super responsive on emails, though. :-\ I guess we'll see how it turns out.
santa cruz loves nh free press keep up the good work ive jut about passed out all the papers you gave me far and wide :icon_pirat:
Wow! Talk about "small world," "law of attraction," or whatever else.
jose was just in Santa Cruz and I had just googled "shane maxfield' and come up with this link to a homeless Shane Maxfield in Santa Cruz.

That's cool, Firecracker :D I used to like to take Kira down there when the monarch butterflies were gathering. It's very impressive! :butterfly:

I have $105/$400 for the July issue. I suspect I'm going to wind up having to delay this issue into mid-July.
give me some this weekend in grafton i will be heading out again soon til burning porc.
Sure thing! :D Thanks.
when i believe in something i will go out of my way to help even if it means driving cross country to get out the message of freedom. thank you for putting out such great info that most other don't dare to.
Have ad/donations amounting to $125/$400 for the July issue.
Our Concord newpaper box had an interesting message posted in it.
After being run out of the town of Boscawen, we added papers to our box in front of the NH State House.
It was empty and instead of a paper displayed in the front window ... it contained a vinyl record of Romeo and Juliet inside its sleave. I couldn't figure out why it was there until I pulled it out and noticed a small spraypainted message "more lies" in silver on the cover. I guess someone has a strong opinion on the content of our paper. :)
Mike has a picture of it and we have the cover with us.
You should print that in the editorial section. :)
you are right ... I will put the picture in the letters to the editor

So THAT'S what that was about. I saw that paper. I don't think you're original explanation was as detailed. I thought someone was calling Romeo and Juliet lies.
The New Hampshire Free Press has been going out to ~50 outlets across Southern NH, to about 70 subscribers, and to political prisoners across the US. I haven't been able to put out the October/November issue due to lack of funds :( Right now I have $150 of $400 for the next issue. So if you'd like to help get libertarian ideas out to the general public, now would be a great time to donate :)
http://www.newhampshirefreepress.com/subscriptions.html (http://www.newhampshirefreepress.com/subscriptions.html)
I don't use paypal, but I'm in for $20 next time I see you or Russell, likely this coming week.
Thanks much!
yea .... it has been a funny transition
the keeniacs used to buy 1 page, then 2, then up to 4 ..... now they are talking about having their own paper or a magazine. I would guess both ideas are going as well as the fsp's magazine is.
If you would like to have your own page for your town or issue, you can contribute money or content.
Right now our next paper might be full of crazy grafton doings and nothing from manchester or keene.
We're up to $270/400 thanks to several generous donations :)
how much would it cost to do a one pager, as Keene did and the alternative to this is how much does it cost to do a one page advertisement?
$70
Hey y'all - I know I've asked before, but I can't find the info. Who were you using for printing the NHFP? Were you satisfied with them? An earlier post suggested they may not have been very responsive.
The last people who did our printing were the Valley News in West Lebanon. I liked the printing and they were really nice. It's silly, but the ink there didn''t rub off on your hands. Pick-up was real easy. The guy I was working with there was Glenn Grote ggrote@vnews.com
Prepress Manager
Valley News
24 Interchange Drive
West Lebanon, NH 03784
603-298-8711 ext. 270
We also used Leader Printing in SD, which worked out good. I think Valley News was giving us a better deal, though.
Let me know if you need any more info. Happy to help.
Valley News did a nice article on Peaceful Assembly Church, BTW.
Excellent - thanks for the help.
Will you be needing any help with the paper?
Perhaps. Where you living these days, Scott?
Hillsboro :(
We may expand Shire-wide as far as distribution is concerned, but first to test in the Monadnock area.
Happy to help distribute in this area.
