Also ... we could use a count on campers and on how many nights.
Jesse from NY
He just attended his first Porcfest and is planning to move here soon.
jaqeboy and a few other Alties TBD
Can I set up the AltExpo tent? - good for shade or meetings.
That is, if I can get it repaired after the water collapse Saturday night.
And actually, I still have some AltJava and the coffee pot and mugs, so I could just resume business, maybe?

No! Absolutely not! No free trade allowed. What do you think this is? Some kind of free market anarchist me... oh,wait. Never mind. Yeah, that's cool.
Just make sure you have a selling permit from the mafia. ::)
That would almost be funny, having some poor little revenue collector from grafton go up there to try to collect permits. Almost funny. >:D
I will probably not be at Burning Porc the entire time, but will try to be there for at least half of it. I have a friend visiting whom I am trying to convince to move to Grafton and ... move in with me to live happily ever after. She lives 4,734 miles from here and will only be visiting for two weeks and probably not again until next summer so we want to see as much as possible while she's here. Coincidentally she will be here the two weeks of Burning Porc. I will need everyones help convincing her how awesome it is to live in New Hampshire!
I will probably bring Caia a few times too if there are activities for kids and what not.
Anyways, that's my story.

There is no zoning in Grafton so you don't need a permit to open a business.
I will be up from the 17th to the 25 assuming
my liver lasts that long.
17th-20th for myself ;D
I am expecting that I'll be coming up for a few days. Not sure when. I doubt I'll do much if any camping though.
If I couldn't make it for at least some part of this, then you could be shure that things were not well. BUT THINGS ARE ALWAYS WELL!
I (Jesse from NY) will be there for the entire thing. I plan on brining a Slip-And-Slide, so I'd like someone to volunteer to bring the pork fat so we can grease the sucker up.
Welcome Jesse. Glad to have another anarchist.

I may have to come up and camp for the weekend. All my kids will be gone (including Eli) so I may actually need to be up there to see "family" for my own sanity.

Burning Porcupine is not for the meek or for those who will not venture out into the wilderness.
Actually you will drive on less than one mile of dirt roads ... there will be yellow flags to guide you ... and you can always follow my directions on
http://burningporcupine.com
We'll be there for at least some of the festivities, and will probably be camping.

HEY - I'm not venturing into any wilderness now...that would be dangerous and I couldn't be meek anymore. And anyway, I already had my venture into the wilderness last year when I took my Dodge sundance onto an unmarked road to get around a mountain. The road turned into fine gravel and then as it started going up and around, the rocks got larger. Rather than try to turn back, I decided to keep going since the map showed a dotted line supposedly looping back to a road. Well guess what - it did not lead back at all and I ended up having to get out and move rocks every few yards or so for the next couple of hours. Then I got to place with small dirt mounds that I had to get around. At one point the car was stuck and I turned it off, got out to look around, and saw the remains of a very old rusted car down below in some trees. Then I just screamed... ARGHGHGHGHHHH!!!!! "I'm not getting out of here" I waited a few minutes and decided to try something - drive it forward and reverse while turning the wheel slightly to rock the car back out of the pit. That finally worked and I was on my way until I came upon this large (small lake sized) puddle of water. It didn't look too deep but it probably was not flat on the bottom either. Anyway, I got this far so what the hell. I backed up, and put the pedal to the metal to drive through it and by some miracle I got to the other side. If that wasn't enough, next came the fallen tree across the road. There was just enough space between the end of this tree and the edge of the path (dropped almost straight down out of sight) to ram my way around, scraping the side of the car. By then it was dusk and I thought that I might be spending the night. Fortunately about that time, the path emerged back onto a relatively flat, unpaved road leading out. Only damage was a busted headlight, torn-off muffler attachment, and my nerves. I am not sure that setting a porcupine on fire would have made it worth the trouble either.

Ah you wont have to do all that, to get to
Burning Porc.
Route 4 is paved and there is only a little bit of
graded dirt road to travel at the end.
I mean it's nothing like coming to my house... just ask PatK. :D

That actually sounds like a lot of fun! I've even gotten stuck a couple times in my old Subaru doing similar stuff (and had very generous people come pull me out). Nowadays (in a newer subaru with a few inches more clearance) I carry a heavy duty come-along and two 20ft sections of 10k lbs rated webbing, so hopefuly I can get myself out of just about any ditch now (provided there are trees or other things around I can attach the come-along too.) Good times, good times!
If you want a wild ride in the backwoods, have Lex drive you up to the top of the mountain! :o Great view up there.

This event has some similarities to the original event from what I can see ... although the idea for the name here in Grafton was Tim C. ... and he won't even be there. So it might be heading in a different direction.
We could call it Burning Man (no desert).
We also have the advantage that we don't have to clean up every piece of evidence of our presence. In fact part of the fun is how the facilities will accumulate. :)

I didn't mean that the name should change, just that it could become the same type of massive party that draws hundreds of people to it.
Julia and I will come up if she has the free time. I'd like to do Sunday, if possible, but unsure for now.

I think I already RSVP'd, but without dates. So, it looks like I can get there Fri afternoon and stay til maybe Monday.
Will have the Expo Café with an additional new flavor: Café Libré and some Liber-tea.
Also, have in mind a few topics that are holdovers from AltExpo#2:
§ Unplugging from the Matrix
§ Co-operatives
§ Libertarians against Capitalism - how the movement got confused by the LP, and other stories
§ another eco-village tour
Is there interest in a DVD/video projection set up? I have plenty of videos to watch.

I got my reservation confirmation for the "improved" camp lot. I'm looking forward to the electricity and running water, not to mention the free drinks, hammock, swimming pool, personal masseuse, valet, and...wait, what event is this again?
We've got some of that stuff
I'll finally be able to make it up there tomorrow.
I'll head on up after yoga class tonight . . .
Now, if I only knew how to find the place? Did I see directions or an address somewhere?
After you get into Grafton coming from the east, you will see the Country Store and gas Station on your right. Take the next left onto Prescott Hill Rd. Proceed 1/4 mile and take left at fork. Go a little over 1 mile and take a right onto Slab City Rd. After you pass the house on right that is partly brick turn left onto the next driveway/dirt rd.
Follow the Yellow BP signs which you should start seeing on rt 4.
The BP signs are peach and red, but don't count on them, someone is tearing them up.
