Some of us are going to be having voluntaryist outreach efforts on election day at busy polling places in Keene. The plan is to print up some fliers to hand out (working on some now) and have signs to get attention. I'll be making a blog post soon about it with the fliers download-able and with some slogans people can make signs of; just suggestions of course. Would anyone else like the join us? If we form teams of two, we could potentially cover more polling places.

Hey, it's a voluntaryist outreach after all. Passers-by should be encouraged to participate. ;D
Tri-fold fliers have been made available on my blog. I really appreciate any constructive feedback you may want to offer.

I particularly enjoyed the "Why hasn't voting helped?" section.
I would recommend you replace non-violent with peaceful. Better to be for something than against something. More positive.
Also, I recommend Staples online copy center when you're ready to print (they work on Sunday): http://www.staplescopycenter.com/
Cool :D
That's good advice, Ian. Thanx. I also discovered a couple more common questions when I watched an hour and 20 min Stefan M. video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKHP5gtnBAE).
I've updated the fliers. I incorporated Ian's suggestion as well as one emailed to me by a stranger to make the brochure look a little cleaner. The FAQ at the end is also a little more complete. Download the updated fliers from here.

So who's joining us in Keene? If we get 10 people, we can cover all the polls here. Who's planning to do this elsewhere? Manchester?
What time do you want to do it? Early morning? Noon? 5p?

I think around noon. Ideally, I'd like to be there all day but that might be a bit much. If we start around noon we'll get a lot of people voting on their lunch break and we can stay until we're tired or until it seems like traffic has tapered off. Let's meet in the square and form teams of two from there. I'll try to find out all the polling places.

Good job Dale...
Thanks for the inspiration.
I tried a little of my own don't get out the vote over on the World Affairs Board

(Funny how they are honest with their graphic that shows political=war)
Anyway, I had been getting announcement from that forum from having posted there a couple of years ago.
They sent me a invite to take a poll asking if
QuoteWhat do you plan do be voting this Tuesday, a straight or split ticket? If you decide to split your ticket, how do you plan to split it and why? Will you be voting for a Republican president and one or more Democrats on the tickets, or vice versa?
So, I took the opportunity to chime in on the thread

I am not going to vote anymore.
People will be disappointed whichever candidate they vote for.
McCain will spend like a socialist...
Obama won't get us out of the wars...
Our system is broken, I am withdrawing my consent.
Too which the reply
QuoteSince you are failing in your duty and obligation to vote, I will not listen to anything you have to say about our government. (http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/images/darksmiles/mad.gif)
Maybe you need to move to somewhere where you think your consent is required.

WOW! Some people have even given up the rhetoric of "by the consent of the governed"!
I strongly encourage RSVPs on the Facebook event if you are planning to attend, whether you're participating in Keene or in your hometown.

OK, I got a quote on tri-fold fliers. They're $62 for 400 and $12 more ($74 total) for machine-folded, which I'm probably just going to do. I thought about getting a few people to help me fold them tonight but sheesh. So anyway, I'm going to go ahead and get them printed and bring the stack tomorrow. Don't feel obligated as I'm thrilled if people just come and contribute there time, however, if anyone feels motivated to offset some of that with a little contribution, it will not be rudely rejected. :)
I'll give ya $10 later today. Definitely have the machine fold them; doing it manually is awful.
BTW, my phone number is no longer good. My service finally got canceled so I can switch providers but I'm having kinks with the new provider so no phone yet. I'm working on it.

is always good for a piquant slogan.
I found out that 501 is a magic number at Staple's. The price drops quite a bit. I was able to get 501 fliers instead of 400 for just about $3 more.
On a side note, check out this site (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=42687532&o=all&op=1&view=all&subj=37390516953&aid=-1&id=8848501&oid=37390516953) called "Free Cup of Starbuck's Coffee if You Vote Tuesday" where a friend posted one of my comics. Here's a comment.
QuoteHmm, this would be valid if that's what voting was all about. It's not some sort of self-validation tool used for the masses. It's about being a part of your future, your kid's futures, and the furthering of our society. Sorry, Darian, but your half-assed little anarchy cartoons aren't really cutting it. Try making a valid point next time.

You know what. Don't worry about contributions. This is my thing. I'm not poor. I'm gonna eat it. The thought is appreciated. I'm just glad you're joining us.
