Yes .... plus you could invite people ... but then if they start causing a brawl or drop cig butts on the grass (killing the frogs ;) ) , then we are going to wonder why you brought the losers to the party. :)

So I am inviting lots of people, who are my friends. I might have to take some of the responsibility for Dale and Ryan last year.

to do:

Don't let Dale self medicate...
Remind people to buy plenty of beer ahead of time at cheaper prices...
Dedicate one fridge to icemaking...

oh ... last year it was a pain picking up after everyone ... especially the non burnable things like recycling ... if you can bring containers to hold bottles, alum cans, or plastic that will help out ... partyers could also help with our dump runs on Sunday and Wednesday. The town of Grafton doesn't charge for our garbage if we will sort out the recycling stuff. The best rubbish is the kind that makes the bonfire bigger.

Actually for me even the Grafton Malls
Beer prices were pretty good.
But then I live in Tax hell.

So we keep Dales drink honest and
don't let him smoke unknown plants.
Though I thought he was freaking hysterical
but then I am not easily offended.

I liked the Dump run.
I volunteer for that.

Last year I think I drove up, had lots of fun, stayed over . . . drove back to Salem, worked, drove back the next weekend, had lots more fun . . . etc.
Grafton is like one of my favorite places!
This year I'll have a few things to do around the house so I'll just stay home (and maybe play my guitar a few times.)

Jay and Lloyd found a good site for the pole barn/ pavilion. It will go near the brook and up the hill a little from the fire pit. When they get ready to do some work on it, I will warn you guys so that anyone that wants a physical workout to help Burning Porcupine can.

We could also use some cool signs to welcome visitors and help direct them to the farm.

Some events will be weather sensitive like the mt cardigan hike, slip-n-slide, and ultimate frisbee ... and may be shuffled.

Since "dodgeball" is reportedly banned from the government indoctrination centers we should give kids (old and young) a chance to play that here. I have a "dodgeball" in Grafton. Maybe we could also play a simple game of tag ...

Since "dodgeball" is reportedly banned from the government indoctrination centers we should give kids (old and young) a chance to play that here.

That's like saying, "Now that they banned whipping slaves, let's all beat each other."
I only ever played that barbaric game under duress--never again!

Dodge ball seems safer to me than volleyball. I've injured my wrist pretty badly hitting the volleyball wrong and then exacerbated it by continuing to play. Now I don't play it anymore. It may have been a combination of carpal tunnel and then hitting a volleyball wrong, but in any case, I'm very protective of my wrists and hands now, particularly now that <french accent>I am an arteeeest!</french accent>

I couldn't agree more!  I don't know which childhood memory is more disturbing: the stark-raving terror of being inside the circle and having a hard ball hurtled at me (and as a kid with a birthday in October* and a late bloomer, I was always one of the tiniest kids in my class) or the Pon Farr-ish bloodlust that would bubble up being outside the circle trying to nail some other poor brat.  Never again.

*footnote - what I meant by that is that I was usually a year younger than the rest of my class. I understand they're really strict these days with the Sept. 1 (or whatever) cut-off date for sticking your kid in school, but either they didn't use to enforce that rule or my mother was so desperate to get me off her hands she talked the penguins into bending it.

I talked to Roto-Rooter about replacing my sewer line Monday or Tuesday which would make it possible to show up for Burning Porc on time. Today I got home from PFest and there was a big digger machine parked in my yard. That encourages my optimism!

Roto-Rooter finished my sewer line in one day and the yard doesn't even look that bad. They're coming back tomorrow to lay some grass seed. That's excellent news. It's means I can come up for the entire event! As with Porcfest, I will have to take some time to do work while I'm there.

There will be pancakes Thursday morning and possibly the next day if any batter is left. I will appreciate small contributions to cover cost; maybe a buck or two a person or something, but it's not required. I want everyone to enjoy them. The maple syrup is the biggest cost. =\ I know I will offend any number of people if I don't have maple syrup for a New England event.

These will be made from Ezekiel flour freshly milled by yours truly the night before from red wheat, spelt, barley, red kidney beans, great white northern beans, pinto beans, lentils, and millet.

this year the fire pit is a lot wider, so your thing will have to stand on its own, sit on a pile of springs, or we have to find metal rods to put across the rocks.
i am looking forward to your creation. Last year's one is still sitting on the rocks. Maybe we could use both in the fire.

Anton Lee, what astounding pix! I'd love hi-res copies if you don't mind sharing (even if they have your watermark on them).

Dang we will miss Chez Llllloyd's creations.

Does this mean y'all are not coming up, Tom, or just that you're coming up later than omelette-time?

Monday- Pitchfork Throwing, Grafton County Frog Jumping Competition. Frog legs for dinner from among the losers.

Were you serious about this?  Are you really having a jumping frog competition? And then serving frogs' legs?  If so, what time are both events scheduled for?

I know I'm asking a lot here, but could I get a straight answer to this?  I'm trying to decide which day(s) to come up.

Whichever day you come up, we'll have a frog jumping competition.  I wasn't serious about the frog legs, but if someone else wants to do it, go for it :)

Wow, this sounded/sounds like so much fun!   My grandson has been sick that's why I haven't been able to come yet.

When does it end?

I was going to talk to Rick tonight when he gets home and see if we can find a babysitter and just come by ourselves tomorrow night.  I hope it didn't end yet and we can make it work out.

Oh yeah, and I hope we don't get lost for 4 hours like last time.  I'm pretty sure Rick remembers the way so I'll just let him direct me.

We don't have a big enough pot for the cannibal cookoff.  Do you have anything that would fit a whole person?

I had a really great time at Burning Porcupine 2009 from Wed to Sun.  Thank you to everyone that helped with the flaming event!

Did the hike happen today?  When I hiked the mountain on Sunday it was very muddy but most of the mud was easy to avoid.  Since Sunday was a clear day the views were fantastic.  Looking from the top of the mountain, I saw mountains in every direction.

Lots of fun ... two fish caught today ...
Is it really over already?  ;)

I still have lots of video to edit ...
