Looks like fun. :)
i have to object to running on cardboard on slush ... it seems too wasteful ;)
I want to go! Let's see, we'll need some silly costumes and a lot of cardboard. How about a tall sailing ship called "Pirates Sans Pants"?
They have a prize for the best self destruction during the sled run.
Think Pirates with out pants. :D
I have plans for a tall ship... I'll go dig for them.
We should also have card board treasure chests.
Cool... well actually cold without pants. ;D
It's your chance to wear that kilt that you've always been afraid to wear.
we could show up with some extra cardboard or build a couple of props for you guys
Ah, this looks like fun! Alas, once again I'll be out of town...have fun!
This does look fun!
we are taking our Grafton Welcome Wagon show on the road and will be at the bottom of the hill eating salad and grillin
Got a chance to see the sled being constructed. Jimbo was waxing the bottom. William donated a pirate flag to go on it. Fun times ahead. :D
What time will people be at Mt. Sunapee? Their website says registrations start at 9:00a, judging of sleds will be at 12:30p, sleds must enter before noon, sleds must be at starting line at 1:15p, race begins at 1:30p, and i'm guessing the race lasts about 30-60 minutes(?).
We will try to be there by noon. Is anyone bringing a grill or should we try to bring one?
I'm portable grill less... I can bring my grill tool box filled with grilling accessories. :)
Lauren and I will be there 10:30 to 11:00ish.
Can anyone donate a helmet... of any kind? We need three of them.
...preferably ones with face guards... but any helmet will do.

I have 3 motorcycle helmets you can use, all with face shields. However, I'm not yet sure if/when I'll be there. If I can get these to you via a third party, you are welcome to use them.

They don't have a sign on the back that says "
pull me over" do they? ;D >:D
Har har. :)
How am I going to get these to you guys? Is anyone from the Manch area going to Mt. Sunapee tomorrow that I could give them to?
I can bring a grill

We can get helmets from the ski patrol if we can't get yours. The helmets won't make or break the day. :)
I can prolly bring a bike helmet.
Bike helmets are good.
We need two people to ride in the sled with Lauren... they will be glorified as Pilots... must be 18years old to ride this ride.
Oooh!
Man, that was a blast. The pres and I had a great time. Jim and Lauren's pirate ship was too cool for school. William had such a great time participating in this. And, drum roll please.... The Pirate Ship Griffin took first place for coolest sled. (or words to that effect) Much booty for all. The pres came home and had some grog in his new glass. :icon_pirat:
It was fun partying with everyone and eating... of course... sausages on the grill. Yar!! :pirateship:
Yea! Woo-hoo! We Win Best Art!
Thanks to all the crew:

Abbi
Mike
Elizabeth
The President

Thank You for making it a great day!

the ship didn't do so well going down the hill ... it turned around and slowed down
but it survived and we rode it down another hill a few times ... the kids thought it was great
mike and I tried to barskey the ship and rolled it ... but it survived
I had a lot of fun yesterday. Thanks for being so creative and talented so that there was something for me to watch! Next year maybe I'll even participate. :)

That hat probably violates zoning ordinances.
:pirateship:
Thanks for posting pics... it was fun.
antijingoist was a good sport to go on the wild ride with pirates ;D
Actually, we thought he was a ninja so captured him and put him in the bilge.
We won the biggest prize, first place Art! We got all kinds of swag from the sponsor, Harpoon beer.
We didn't have the nice camera, but here are pics from the bottom of the hill :)
VDO of the event (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odrlpehQgok)
That is so awesome!
:clapping:
I think there must have been a ninja hidden in there somewhere that weighed it down to spoil the victory. :NinjaIconA:
;D 8) :'(
I was there and I still enjoyed watching this video of it happening. :)
I loved the ones that ended in a tumble of torn cardboard and rolling people. The Sardines made a great run and the Pope in the popemobile was blessing people all the way down till his inversion.
I had to laugh at them going over the sled with a metal detector. ;D
