Title: Grafton Welcome Wagon
Post by: Russell Kanning on March 26, 2009, 11:49 AM NHFT
Since there are so many people visiting NH who want to hook up with people who have already moved because of the free state project, I was thinking that we should try to have picnics in Grafton at the Porcupine Recreation Area every Saturday.
So I will be posting here and
http://forum.freestateproject.org/index.php?topic=17392.0
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=66833941238
each time we are planning a potluck lunch here at the Hoyt Farm in Grafton.

April 4th is our first picnic.
April 11th is at Mt. Sunapee
April 18th is Lazy Day at the farm
April 25th is the softball game
April 25th is also Gandhi Movie Night
May 16th picnic
Kira's Birthday
Burning Porcupine July 1-7
Picnic July 12
Picnic August 1st at noon (great weather, waterfall, bonfire and moon gazing)

next
Picnic August 29th for volleyball and bonfire in first field 10pm-10pm

awesome small gathering
We had the venerable grand mistress of the NH libertarians, Lois Gardner, stop by for lunch with her driver John. Locals Zim, Tony and Lloyd visited. The fun bunch (Barskey, Ryan&Kellie, and William&Amy) finished off the afternoon.

on the 11th we are taking our BBQ/Picnic on the road to Mt. Sunapee.

Bring your fixins and we will grill them up at the bottom of the slope while we cheer on Jim and Lauren's entry.

this week we will be at Mt. Sunapee, but I am thinking we should soon host a softball or volleyball game where the Grafton Welcome Wagon takes on the visitors.

So which game would be best? The Keeniacs have proposed a softball game.

I drove around today with my girlfriend after dropping her brother off at Plymouth. . . ended up at the Grafton General Store.  They actually have more than I thought they would.  What a beautiful area, we stopped and took pictures of moo moo cows
(http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/uu221/AntonLeePhotography/MooMooCows/2ede56e8.jpg)

I hope next time I do so on a Saturday and I could stop in to say hello!  What was cute in the general store was the t-shirt

"what happens in Grafton, stays in Grafton, but nothing happens in Grafton"

Wait... are those cattle with feces matted in their hair? There is no visible food there. There are no shelters. The fences are in poor repair. There's a junk pile in the background.

Quick, someone CALL STEVE SPROWL!!!

Oh, wait... cows aren't horses. Nevermind. Livestock activists, stand down, go park your trailers until the next alert message.

Post by: AntonLee on April 13, 2009, 04:16 AM NHFT
I noticed that too, no don't call Steve because the people who were tending to their farm on Easter afternoon were more than welcoming to me, the fat guy standing on the street snapping pics of their fatty moo moo cows.  They were yelling at the cows to turn around so I could get a good picture.

I love NH.  I love moo moo cows.

aha cows
http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/usda/current/Catt/Catt-01-30-2009.txt
NH has only 39,000 head of cattle
WY has twice as many cows as people ... ks and ne are off the charts

CT has more cows that NH
same with maine, Mass, and of coarse VT ... we only have more than RI

Maybe, "Let Me Call l You Home?" or "On The  Road To Freedom." ;D  I'm willing to sing at the opening game.

BTW, I picked up some "bases" (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) - (we already have a Home plate) - from the Salvation Army store.  ;)

Wow! Thanks for the sports coverage, guys. Great stuff!
The Grafton media seems to be expanding. (Live sports coverage & and nice stills.)

The Grafton Welcome Wagon softball team took full advantage of this beautiful afternoon.
Good people. Nice weather. Good conversation. Good food.
What more could one ask for?

We also did much more than play softball . . .  8)
Thanks everyone!

I drove around today with my girlfriend after dropping her brother off at Plymouth. . . ended up at the Grafton General Store.  They actually have more than I thought they would.  What a beautiful area, we stopped and took pictures of moo moo cows

I hope next time I do so on a Saturday and I could stop in to say hello!  What was cute in the general store was the t-shirt

"what happens in Grafton, stays in Grafton, but nothing happens in Grafton"

Awww, they are so cute!  ;D   I see those cows too when I drive that way and I always say, "Look at the cute cows kids."   They used to get excited but now they don't seem to be that impressed, I still am though.  :)  Was it on Rt 25A or something like that?

Oh, he said he wasn't going to be coming back to the seacoast afterwards.  I think he said he was going to Keene or something like that from there, so that probably wouldn't work out, unless he's going through Concord both ways.

Anyways, if I come up on Sunday(this one), providing the weather is agreeable, we could practice some bartering/trading?

Need anything for your house? Just a thought...
