Title: Mine That Bird, long-shot Kentucky Derby winner
Post by: KBCraig on May 03, 2009, 05:53 PM NHFT
This was obviously a hybrid horse: the first mile he was a Thoroughbred warming up, and the last quarter he was a Quarterhorse on a sprint.

Wow.  :o

As I heard someone say, "That crazy little coonass took a motorcycle to the horse race!" (Jockey Calvin Borel is a Cajun, if you didn't know.)

Not bad for a $9,500 3 year old gelding, who now has career earnings of $1.8 million after just 9 starts.

The announcer didn't even notice until he was about three lengths ahead and then fumbled for who it was.

Did you see what jockey "Bo-rail" did on Friday at the Oaks? 20-1/4 lengths on Rachel Alexandra?!?! Video (http://www.kentuckyoaks.com/2009/videos/3936) That Cajun can ride!
