Title: Thanksgiving Southwest
Post by: TackleTheWorld on November 12, 2009, 04:48 PM NHFT
What:  Thanksgiving Dinner and Pot Luck
When:  26 Nov 2009  10am - midnight
Where:  Jim and Lauren's Porc Manor in Winchester
Who:    People who read and like NHfree.com
Where?:  Call 239-8506 if you don't know how to get there.

Come on out, we'd love to see ya.
Bring your delightful self, and some tasty food, maybe a beverage you like.

I'm not promising anything like a BBQ smoked turkey but Jim has been experimenting with some innovative metal enclosures lately. :)

Wow.  Just wow.  Jim constructed a smoker and today we tried it out on a turkey.  The results are superb.  Outside it's a deep deep brown color, inside is pink tender and smokey flavored.  It looks and tastes a lot like smoked ham, but more tender.  Wow.

I might be able to bring a turkey before then. I'll be coming down to Keene for Social Sunday and in between teaching Kira new and more colorful swear words, I might be able to pickup a turkey.  8)

I got out of a traffic ticket in Eureka, CA by saying "Oh Crap!"

The cop says, "Do you know your driving the wrong way down this street?"

I said, "Oh, crap!" and I turned around and left.

Graftonites: I bought a new motorhome and think it would be a lot of fun to have a party on the way to the party this Thursday. I can comfortably seat at least 8 others than myself (and by "comfortably," I mean seated at a dining table or on a couch :) ). I'll leave from the Hoyt Farm and head to Winchester, then bring us back home to the Hoyt Farm that night. On the way (both ways) we can be eating, drinking, and merry. I'd like US$5.00 per person for gas.

Any takers?

I missed my turkey delivery time yesterday; had some issues pop up that made my trip to Keene rather short.

I'll be heading back down today. Kat gave me money, so I will likely get a second turkey. I'm going to be a little later than noon today, but I'll still be stopping by, is that okay?

No smoked or fried turkey in the Craig household. I love doing both, but Mrs. Craig insists on a traditional bird (which is currently sitting under its little aluminum foil puptent).

For our vegetarian Hindu guest, I made raita tonight, or at least as close as I could come; spicy tzatziki is more like it. I will be frying eggplant and zucchini and sweet potato strips tomorrow, and grilling some halved Napa cabbage.

All I can say is, I hope he likes pecan pie.  ;D

What a handsome guy.
What an event!  I like how there was such a variety of people and their unique additions to the merriment.  Dale's innovative dishes, DaDa's innovative conversation topics, Brian's innovative business plans.  We got to watch mashed potatoes being made, the fire branding of a few pieces of lumber, and hear numerous stories of fun and adventure.  I enjoyed hearing many people's concerns, and jokes, and predictions.  It gets more fun every year.  Thanks to everyone for bringing themselves and their yummy food.

Yeah, there was an interesting mix of folks. We had a wonderful time.

That smoked turkey was awesome... It thrilled and amazed me that pretty much all the bases were covered in the food department... spontaneous order?

The chocolate bacon was, to me, a surprising hit. Kind of addictive.

William had fun engaging in trade.

Thanksgiving seems such an appropriate holiday for the pioneers who's boldness brought them to their new home, new life and new friends.  8)
