We are nearing completion of a moderately sized self sufficient organic farm in the White Mountains/Lakes Region of New Hampshire, and are looking to work with a farm manager to increase capacity and production to a small commercial scale.
Specifically looking to enable an entrepreneurial individual with our existing farm infrastructure to make a comfortable living for themselves, while offsetting recurring farm costs. Possible on-site housing accommodations available. Please e-mail info@samizdatfarm.com to discuss further.
Existing farm infrastructure includes:
- Year-round heated greenhouse with indoor raised beds and automatic heating, cooling, and humidity controls.
- Several fenced raised beds, with semi-automated second greenhouse.
- Newly started orchard.
- Hormone and antibiotic-free chickens, turkeys, milk goats, rabbits, pigs, cattle, and bison all raised on pasture.
- Heated four-stall barn.
- Good local network of organic farmers and consumers.
The farm is run entirely off-grid with an array of 80 solar panels, and a wind turbine. All heating is generated by outdoor wood boilers, with the firewood harvested off the property.
An ideal match would be at least partially familiar with or willing to learn about: raised bed planting, no-till gardening, composting/vermiculture, seed starting/saving, permaculture principles, orchard care, companion planting, natural pest control, food storage/preservation, yogurt/cheese production, bee-keeping, raising grass-fed free range livestock, animal husbandry, and butchering.
