Great news.  It is only a matter of time before all of the bigger cities have meetings.  We know we've really made it when Laconia and Berlin start having monthly meetings  :)

Russell, this has nothing to do with the MVP meeting at Milly's which is on the first Saturday of each month, also attended by Concord folks if they wish.
This meeting is on the second Saturday and takes advantage of the fact that many of us are in Concord already at the CNHT meeting, and so we have lunch with those who don't want to sit through our meeting but want to get together.

So far we've done this about twice and it's been successful with about 17-20 people attending lunch at the Rainbow Buffet. There is no agenda but people can ask Ed and Howie questions (not easy to get Howie to sit still in one spot and he is a font of information) and get to know the rest of our board who are very experienced. We also now have Pat Mc and the McGuires on the board, well at least Carol is, and Dan sits in the meetings too sometimes. Other Porcs attend our CNHT meetings because we have so much information that we can hardly cover it in 3 hours from 9-noon!

I thought Sandy did a wonderful job at the MVP meetings she has taken over.
In keeping with her observations on her blog about the women of the FSP, AFAIC, she is just another of the many smart and beautiful woman amongst the fold!

I think it went well. This is the first Concord Porcs meeting that I have been to, so I don't have anything to judge it by. There didn't seem to be an official agenda, just fellowship. I'd never been to the Red Apple before, either. The food was good and also reasonable, drink service was reasonably expedient. I would probably go there again.

There were about a dozen people there, not sure if that is a typical turnout or if there is usually an agenda. It was a good time, overall.

Coaliition of NH Taxpayers meets each second Saturday of the month in their office just across from the Statehouse at 136 North Main Street, top of stairs take a left from 9 til noon. The meeting is open to all. This month we will most likely be discussing the upcoming elections, the view tax, eminent domain issues (there are two trials going on in NH now) and the ever-present problem of voter fraud among other items. CNHT also puts out a newspaper with information about the Towns and State legislation and we are looking for people to work on that once again.

If you have questions about your upcoming town meetings in March, your re-assessment, or other town issues, come along and bring them. Everyone has a chance to speak!

Immediately afterward:

Concord area Porcupines and other interested parties are invited to attend lunch at the  Red Apple Buffet on 161 Loudon Rd in Concord.
Telephone:   603-226-8866

This meeting has no formal agenda, but combines the CNHT lunch with a larger group of our friends who like to meet and talk in an informal way. If you would like to speak to the group, that can be arranged as well.

See you at noon right after the CNHT meeting!

Q - instead of CNHT's meeting, since we deal mostly with towns, why not get involved with Karl Beisel's Manchester Taxpayers? They could use some help in trying to pass a SPENDING CAP.

GREAT! He's a very active Porc. They may just have not listed their meeting for March...but I know they are working on the spending cap...which almost passed last time.
He will steer you in the right direction..

Thanks Q for getting involved! Some might tell you not to get involved and not to vote, but you know what? The enemy will certainly be voting, early and often! So every person counts in this fight.

From Seth:

NEW - PLEASE RSVP (not required but it helps).  Due to the variety of
things going on last month, the restaurant was a bit peeved I'd
reserved for 15 people and only 3 people showed up (a new low turnout
record, previously we always had 10+ people minimum).  Send me a quick
heads up if you plan to attend, so I can make a reservation closer to
the actual size expected.

As usual, following the CNHT board meeting (http://cnht.org) (9am-12noon) ,
an informal gathering of Porcupines (and whomever else wishes to
attend) will take place at the Red Apple Buffet on Loudon Rd in Concord.

Last month's main topic was "Is it 2008 yet?"
The answer was clearly: No, it's not.  But we're one month closer, so
we'll ask it again...
We'll be discussing potential bills pro and con we'd like see (or
not), who is considering running for what, and all manner of future
thinking, including the 2008 Primary, and more.
After all, it's summer and slow, so let's get excited about things
months and months away... (or not!)

Time: Noon-ish
Date: Aug 11th

Place:
Red Apple Buffet
(corner of Loudon and 132)
161 Loudon Road
Concord, NH 03301
Telephone:      603-226-8866

Directions for those not familar with Concord: take Exit 2 off of 393,
go south on 132 about 3 blocks, it's on the corner when you reach
Loudon Road. (You can also take Exit 9 off of 93, onto Loudon and go east,
but the traffic is a bit bad at that end of Loudon close to 93)

Guests and visitors are always welcome!  We've been pulling people
from all over the state, usually upwards of 15+, and a good time is
had by all.

Starts a little bit after noon.  We gather together, eat food, and
discuss whatever comes up. This is NOT a formal 'agenda' based Porc
group, but we try and have a 'topic of discussion' to focus on, for those who
have views on it.

Those who don't want to discuss can just eat quietly and listen to the
rest of us ranting. The conversations are always fun, regardless of the
topic.

The buffet provides a wide range of good food choices at a very
reasonable price. While it's mostly a Chinese style buffet, it's got
many other things for those who don't like Chinese such as Pizza,
Pasta, Beef, Chicken, and lots of other goodies.  Cost is under $10
including drink and reasonable tip.

I RSVP'd to Seth's e-mail.

QuoteSeth,
I have been asked to produce a mini-documentary that is kind of a month in the free state. I am going to different events over the next month or so and shoot a little video and do some interviews. It will be used to show folks an average month in the free state.

I will be coming over to the Sat. Aug. 9th meeting and I thought I'd give you a heads-up and also see if you could announce to the group and see if you can get a decent turnout.

RSVPing per your request.

Yours in Liberty,
Roger Grant

Cross posting just to let you folks know.

Late last night after getting home from taping all over the shire, as I was attempting to load the footage into the computer the tape jammed in the camcorder. It is particulary tough to take because I got some really nice stuff. The light sparkling on the rapids in the Ashuelot River, background for an interview with Lauren. The Concords Porcupine meeting, with several good interviews, the armed pregnant mom etc. An interview with the new arrivals Bill and Kate.

I am sending the camera out for repair ($) and hopefully they can extract the tape in some usable form.

I was really upset about it last night... today I'm just tired, bummed and tense trying to rush through my current edit.

the concord porcupine meeting for October has been moved to the Canterbury woods.

Take it easy on Firecracker Joe's road ... for low clearance vehicles like ours you have to take it slow.

The trees should look great for this weekend. See you guys there. We will be around for the afternoon .... the family friendly portion of the festivities. :)

what a busy Saturday it is...  In fact, it's so busy, we're moving the
location this month so as to allow folks more of a chance to enjoy the
events of the day!

As always, the Coalition of NH Taxpayers  will be meeting at morning
at 136 North Main Street, at 9am.  A great group with lots of help for
folks seeking to learn about local politics at the town level.

Then rather than our usual Noonish Chinese Buffet lunch meeting @ the
Red Apple, we're moving the Concord Porc meeting to Canterbury, to the
home of Joe Roux aka Firecracker Joe, who is throwing a 'Welcome Free
Staters and Natives' party...
This is a 'bring food, music and more' party... with oldtime Rock&Roll
music.
Please bring goodies to share... There is a pizza place, take out
chinese, and minimart/deli at the Shaker/106 intersection below for
those who want to grab something last minute.

The party is supposed to be starting the night before for those who
show up, but the official start time is Noon on Saturday.
Invite your friends and neighbors, Joe wants a mix of folks of all
sorts!

Directions from Concord Area:
Take I93 to 393 West Exit 3, (or follow Route 9 thru Concord) to
RT-106 N toward Laconia and Loudon Racetrack.  Go 6.6 mi on RT 106
North.
Turn left at Shaker Rd at the traffic light (small minimall and
mart/deli/gas station)
Go 5.1 mi, past the Shaker Village...
Turn right at Hancock Rd, and follow noise and parked cars for the
party.

There may also be a Manchester Free Press organizational meeting
happening at Murphys (noonish?) but couldn't find anything confirming
the details, so if there is one, someone pipe up.

Also in Manchester that day is the Manchester Gun Show... at the
Radisson 9am to 5pm (also on Sunday from 9to2)

Then starting at 7pm,   Halloween/Invader Zim Party, with charity
Jello wrestling (?) (weather permitted), at Kevin Roll's house in
Pembroke...  110 N Pembroke Rd.  (FYI, N Pembroke Rd near Concord is
closed where it meets Rt. 106, best alternative route from Joe's is go
to Traffic Circle in Epsom then Rt28 South)

THEME:  INVADER ZIM!  Dress as your Favorite Zim Character from any
episode!

This will be a benefit/donation/charity/housewarming/welcome to the
free state for Ivy
Beth will be making all the food, but BYOB.
Will be taking donations, kids (boy) clothing (contact Beth for sizes)
toys, (new or used) household items, gift cards for target/grocery
stores...  Contact beth@garthwaite.org for more info.

Party starts 7pm, costumes optional, awards for best Zim character look
a likes!
Party will likely continue into the wee hours of the morning as per
usual with Kevin's parties...

Just now seeing this for the first time.  This kind of video is an excellent recruitment tool.  It shows us in the way we actually are, versus the image of gun nuts, and radicals that others love to portray us as.  Good video.
I heard a while back that there was a pregnant mama open carrying.  I caught a glimpse of the much talked about but never to my eyes seen individual.   ;D
I was not aware, or forgot, that 40 people showed up to help unpack for Bill and Kate.   :o   Feel bad about not being able to make it that day.
I will have to make it up to the concord meet n greet sometime.  I like the less formal meets better.  Plus I saw some friendly faces that I haven't seen in a while.   :)
