Happy Alone
[Dec. 26]
Out on the edge
Of somewhere
I came to be alone
But you are here
On Eastman Hill
On this December morning
In my heart and mind
I am happy to find
We are alone
Together
It Happened Today
[Dec 24]
December morning
On Hermit Woods
Near Circle Point
I chose
One of the 10 directions
Up
My Home
This morning it snowed
As I rode out of town
From a place in the middle of nowhere
To a place where I go
That nobody knows
Except the few friends I meet there
Sounds of the cars
And noise from the road
Stopped registering in my head
As time passed by
In my Peace filled mind
Sounds of silence was all there was room for
The sun busted through
In a powerful move
With its' long, bright, and widening fingers
And those fingers massaged
The trees, rocks, and snow
Which cover the prodigious hillsides
I like it :)
January River - by me
Warm sun touches
On my face
Cold New England day
Past birch, past pine
Scent of the woods
Enchanting
Sound of snow
Beneath my feet
Down to a January river
Quiet symphony
Beneath the ice
Sounds of water moving
Ping, pang,
Pong, pang
Pitter, patter
Gurgle
Pretty...quiet symphony beneath the ice : :)
To Be Born Again - by me
Snap and crunch
First bite on an apple
I'm riding out of town
Scent of wood smoke
Out of sleepy morning chimneys
Warm sun casts away the night
Some celebrate a birthday today
Some a spiritual re-awakening
Some are conceived on a winter's day
Some a winter's night
A few on Valentine's day
As natural as life itself
To sow our seed, but why
So few of us dare contemplate
The end of life, to die
Hold Fast - by John Connell
Men with badges and guns stand watch
As the crew clears the dead from the road
Tired and cold from a long night of freezing rain
Heavy grey fog as night turns to day
Most are hunched and bent
Some with snapped and broken limbs
Mid afternoon
Visibility 100 feet and more ice
Surviving trees by the side of the road
Hold fast
