Title: Burning Porcupine 2013
Post by: jerry on June 24, 2013, 03:00 PM NHFT
The battery in my camera died yesterday so I couldn't provide any proof that Burning Porc had actually started.
We had a bit of weather in the afternoon right after we erected Lloyd's tent and it wanted to be a kite, winding up in a ball of tubing in the firepit.  Fortunately it was too wet to have the fire going.
The next morning after some judicious bending it stands proudly once again.

Gathering in the shade we have a state rep, a former state rep, two Ohioans, a new mover to Nashua, a mad Russian, a LongIslander, and several Graftonians (Graftonites?)

Missing from the pic are several folks out looking for real estate.

I bet the organizers don't even charge $30 for a day pass to go to Burning Porc.  ;)

Or does Burning Porc have "disorganizers"?

The standard guarantee for Burning Porc is: if you don't enjoy yourself you get double your money back. ;D

We're pretty disorganized, that's true.
We do have a deregistration  area too.

Am I the only Porc in town with a camera?
The picher guy was sick for a couple days, so no Burning Porcupine pictures those days.
Here's the Thursday fire:

The last picture reminds me of Lloyd's NFD.

On the way to Burning Porcupine we came upon a moose on the Kinsman Highway.
He didn't let us get very close.  I need a telephoto lens.

the current plan for us:  taking a load to Buffalo, delivering on the 5th in the a.m. then we
will take something to get us closer to NH.  should show up on 6trh or 7th.  probably BP over, but we'll visit w/ whoever is around.

The picher guy misplaced his camera, so Friday's Burning Porc pictures are supplied by JerrysWife.
Which explains the better composition, lighting, focus, etc.

1. Pastor John and santa claus.
2. setting up the Lazy Goat
3-4  Alight rain kept folks under cover

The camera did not cooperate in low light, and the fire was started late, so no pictures of an _actual_ Burning Porcupine.

More to come on Saturday.

Looks like we will deliver in MA on the 6th.
From there we either rent a car and rent crash space in the Shire
Or we bring the rig up to Grafton thus having an RV like other folks. :-)
It is 100 every day in Texas I gotsto get me some jacket weather. :-)

Commission a feasibility study committee, perhaps a decision can be made by the end of the next fiscal year!

Saturday was the driest day of Burning Porcupine.  Only one five minute shower and a few rounds of sprinkles.  We decide to forego the ark building class.

The wood was still a bit damp because nobody listened to the fire chief when he said "you'd better put a tarp over that pile of wood." so Jeremey had to use some petrochemicals to get it going.

In honor of Lloyd the fire chief ignites a UN flag.

Lloyd put in an appearance, if only on a t-shirt.

Should've demanded to see his fire permit, then doused his flag with foam.
