Announcement:

Tonight, Thur, June 11, 7PM at Howe Library, a free event sponsored by the NH Office of the American Friends Service Committee:

"Moving Away From Militarism" - a talk by Michael T. McPhearson

Executive Director, Veterans For Peace
Co-Chair, Don't Shoot Coalition

A military veteran with 11 years of service, Michael McPhearson served in the US Army in the first Gulf War. He has since become vocal in his support for peace, serving in a number of capacities, including Executive Director of Veterans For Peace and National Director of United for Peace and Justice.

McPhearson sees militarism at home and militarism overseas as interconnected problems. He says that in order to create peace, a broad-based movement must challenge the story told by politicians and the media that drives the world toward militarism.

McPhearson co-chairs the Don’t Shoot Coalition based in Missouri, which formed after Michael Brown was killed by police in Ferguson. McPhearson and the coalition call for police accountability, an end to racial profiling and unjust police violence against communities of color.
