Title: April 15th, 2006
Post by: Kat Kanning on February 24, 2006, 06:12 AM NHFT
What should we do this year?

Also to be technical I think taxes are due April 18th.  ( 15th is a Sat)  And the 17th is a holiday(Patriot's Day)-- anyone want to go down to Concord and Lexington MA??) in MA so I think taxes are due on the 18th.
Not 100% of that.

Patriot's Day isn't a recognized federal holiday. The actual date, April 19, is also the anniversary of Waco and Oklahoma City.

It isn't a Federal Holiday but I think that the tax collection center in MA is closed.
I will check.

Edit-- I know this is not an official site:

The 15th is the date that holds the symbolism.

Yea the 15th might have to do. If you go to the irs site it tells you the 18th or 19th ..... I forget.

Should we do one big honkathon or in each of our towns?

Will we miss any of the insanity if we don't do it at the very last possible minute?

Something at the IRS on the 15th, and the post office on the 18th?

This sounds like a winner.

Last year the protest that got media coverage was the one where we had just one guy acting on his own somewhere on the seacoast... and no one covered our much bigger protest in Manchester.  Go figure!

One idea to guarantee coverage is to get behind one of the news reporters with a sign when they do a live shot.  They would probably enjoy that since it spices up their story.  Ideally the sign will have the NHfree.com URL on it!   that can best be done in manchester I assume, at the main post office...but you could probably call channel 9 and find out where they're going to be.

I like this idea.  We could reenact "The Shot Heard Round the World".  With a big enough crowd and enough advance media notification, we could get some good publicity.  Also, I favor the 15th, both for symbolism and because it falls on a weekend this year.

We could reenact the battle, only instead of it being Americans vs British, it'll be Americans vs the IRS!!  One group will dress up like colonials, while the other group will dress in 3-piece suits and be armed with laptops, calculators and thick stacks of papers.  I think that could be hilarious and film-worthy.

I'd rather us do something inside NH than in Mass.

Wait what? How did MA get into this? There are identical facilities in NH...

Have the suits drive the manacled working people of america to a bonfire, with whips, and have them throw piles of photocopied Monopoly money into the fire.  FRN's have about the same real worth as Monopoly money, and the FedGov's use of the money has about the same productive result as just burning it.

Have Socialist / Communist Party members sit around the fire and cheer the senseless destruction of wealth and property.

You could have Uncle Sam sit nearby on the toilet, using the Constitution / Bill of Rights to wipe his fundament.

Hello Folks,

It's that time of year again when we collect as big a list as we can of
actions around the country protesting the (MIS)use of U.S. tax dollars
for war. This year the last day to file is Monday, April 17, and April
15 falls on a Saturday, so there's lots of opportunity for protest.
(For
those who do Good Friday peace actions, that falls on April 14 and
could
be tied to taxes too.)

If you need a reminder as to what last year's list looked like, it's
still at http://www.nwtrcc.org/taxday2005.htm. We should be putting up
the new & growing list before too long. It will probably be at a
similar
address but with 2006 replacing the 2005.

Besides posting the list on the web, we send out a press release a week
or so before tax day. It gets blasted to hundreds of media outlets
around the country and the intention is to bring more attention to
local
actions, so we hope that you will want to get you listing in to us as
soon as you can. We also print the list in our April newsletter. The
deadline for that is next week, so if you know what you're doing now or
have a pretty good idea, please let us know as soon as you can.

Please include all the basics: who, what, when, where (with address) -
and an email contact and a phone contact if possible. Let us know if we
can post the phone number on the web or if you would like us just to
refer appropriate inquiries (media and individuals) to the phone
number.

Thanks very much. We look forward to hearing from you!

Actually Burning money is far more productive then what the Feds use it for.

True, you can use it for fuel and wallpaper like the Inter-war Period Germans did with their Deutschmarks :D

BTW, do you see a danger of (even more) Hitleresque "fearless god-like leader" attempts to come out of the financial crash here in the US if/when it happens again? After all, last time Americans ended up w/ frikin FDR...

Actually I was thinking, if they burned the money I gave them, the money I still had would be worth more because of the decreased supply.

Plus they wouldn't be using it to beat me over the head.

Sounds like a film crew would like to come and film what we do on April 15th.  Let's come up with something good!

How about someone can lay around in a pool of ketchup with a sign "Taxpayers being bled dry"?

Olympic size?
Kool Pool?

Or, the easier to arrange 'Puddle Of Ketchup'  From a large bottle, probably available at Walmart, pretty cheap?
