It's spring!! How about a nice walk along the highway to pick up some trash? :) I'm going to try for April 23, 9 am in Peterborough.
The section of highway we do is in Peterborough, 101, starting at ~junction of 202 going 2 miles to the east. Meet at the parking lot of the small strip mall (by Ocean State Job Lot) between Bridge Street and 202 (on the south side of 101). You might want to bring some kind of work gloves. I saw at Walmart a litter grabber for something around $10, if you want to save your back a little.
Brunch at the Peterborough Diner afterwards :)
Not to sound as if I don't care about picking up trash here, but you'll want to make sure you get the maximum amount of publicity for this.
People love feel-good headlines in the news "Free-staters help clean up NH... literally" sounds nice :)
Sure, you want to send out the press releases?
Yeah, definitely try to get credit for the cleanup. I saw a bunch of adopt-a-highway signs when i was in NH last week. Are yall sponsoring one?
Yes
This time we will go from 9 until 11 at the latest. If we are not done, we will finish later. Last spring we did it for 4 hours. Most other times it has taken 1-1:30 hours.

My mother says 'Many hands make light work'.
The more people the faster it will get done.

Yah there is a sign that says Free State Project and Kat got shit for doing that.

So Cris, does that mean you're going to be there?
If I can be there I will.
Back on the chain gang ooh ooh back on the chain gang.......
We'll bring the whip.
Oh baby you know I love it when you go all domanatrix on us.
I'd kinda like to go to the Real ID rally which they scheduled for the same day as this litter clean up. Think we can finish this and make to to Concord by noon?
Maybe do half and do the other half another time, or, all of it if we have enough people.
Isn't that the same day as the anti-REAL ID demonstration in concord?
no ... the real id demo was put on our day
Yes, Joel nicely scheduled it for the same day :P
Are either of you planning on rescheduling? >.>
Thinking about it. I might be in jail then anyway.
Don't get caught in that trap, Kat. Positive thoughts on that subject, OK?
Well, I have to do some things to plan for the worst. Kira's dad is coming to the trial, in case things go bad he'd be able to take her with him. I wont be such a basket case when I have things settled...like who will take care of our house if we're gone for a long time.
Thanks for the huggy icon though :)
Don't blame Joel for the date of the rally. There were plenty of us in on the decision and constraints like Easter, the Senate hearing, and time to get other orgs involved.
Cathleen
I really don't see them sending you for jail for any period of time for what you did.
I dunno, it would really surprise me.

The more things get rolling in NH, the more things will, probably, be occurring on the same day. When one schedules something they will have to figure that others, with something else planned won't be able to show up and plan accordingly. Its not as if the Merrimac Valley people show up to much going on in Keene, anyways. I still don't get the Concord Porcupine meeting, but, its not blowing a saturday out of my month.
OK, I've changed this to Sunday, April 23rd, so we can go to the Real ID rally.
We can troll for help cleaning the highway at the rally
Thanks so much to Lauren and Jim....we couldn't have finished today without their help!
Sorry I missed it, I am A little broke after Vac. and with the price of gas and tolls it was a no go today. I am budgeting for my NH move now, wanna be debt free. I will see you guys in May.
PS part of my budgetting involves quiting smoking so if in the next week I get a little snappy I opoligize ahead of time.
Woohoo on saving for moving, quitting smoking, and May :)
I forgot all about this. Not that I could have made it anyway....
Those who missed the litter clean-up missed their chance at stardom.
Tom and Mark were shooting for their documentary again.

Agree Lloyd...at this point if something is going down in your area it is most prudent to ask the folks were you live to help, not folks from all over the state. Most of us just have way too much on our plate. :)
I don't think Kat was expecting anyone from outside of the Keene area to help with the clean-up, except, on occasion, CT and Long Island. ;D
The FSP must believe in cleaning up the commons. ;)
I just put out the invites for whoever wants to come. I don't try and decide their schedules for them.

I like getting the word because we like helping. Yesterday was a tough decision. We ended up helping on 2 moves and attending the Second Amendment Sisters meeting. In hindsight, the litter pickup would have been a cheaper day for us and far shorter. But it was a productive day and enjoyable too.
Cathleen
Glad everyone got moved! :D
