A favicon is a small picture at the corner of the browser window and next to the bookmark in your bookmark list.
Can we have one?
How about a red pill?
How about a flame?
Here's a internet application that can generate .ico (favicon) files out of gifs or what-have-you. (http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/)
I like the "red pill" better than the "blue flame" favicon... will an admin be so kind as to change it?
Here's the flame actual size if it were the favicon for nhfree

Here's the pill:

I can make a favicon.ico for you out of any file. How about a porcupine?
This is the favicon for freestateproject.org:

I'm not sure we should copy that one, but any other porcupine icon would be fine. I can change it to the proper size and format and send to.....?
This is not the correct format as it would not let me upload that but it is the gif version of it.

I like this one too, it's more golden....

Well I made two icons, so if anyone wants them in the proper format just holler.
I could not tell what that was, knew it wasn't a golden NH, but now I see it.
The porcupines i made are on white, so you would only see the item not the background, which I like to do.
I love the one I just made for the straffordcountyrepublicans.org
Trying Jane's porcupine icon. Sometimes takes a while to show up, like you have to close your browser or shift-reload.

How do you get it to show up?

I am still seeing the flame..never saw the other one, it was not posted here in the correct format but assume she was able to convert it.
I got porcie now.

I've trashed the cache and three folders fuil of icons and still don't see it.
It's in-and-out... I suspect somebody is playing with settings...
No, not doing anything to it.
I see nothing...
:(
It took several days before I started seeing the flame(?). I'm still seeing it now. I guess old ones eventually get flushed out of the cache.

I emptied every icon cache I had, and now NOTHING has icons, including my bookmarks, save for the generic blue ball of the system.
I'm not sure how favicons.ico work. Maybe they have to propagate through the DNS like URLs do.
I got the flame for the first time today.

Okay, I'm getting the porc image now.

I don't see anything now.

I'm a big fan of favicons! I have a tendency to hyperlink so much that I wanna stick multiple links into a single word. The best way to handle that is with some sort of a submenu / popup, but that isn't feasible on things like forums, so I end up adding text-based mock-icons in square brackets, like:
Mary J. Ruwart (http://www.ruwart.com/) [G+] (https://plus.google.com/101386035386729766872/posts) [FB] (https://www.facebook.com/mary.ruwart) [IN] (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/mary-ruwart/0/2b3/52a) [WP] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Ruwart) [AMZN] (http://www.amazon.com/Healing-Our-World-Aggression-Paperback/dp/B00BSZTLX8/)
Doesn't this look better:

Now, about the current NH Underground favicon... (http://nhunderground.com/favicon.ico)
You know I cannot tell a lie...
It stinks like a week-old brown taco!
Which, coincidentally, is also how it looks.
Can't some of the graphics wizards here do better?
A favicon should be instantly recognizable, but it doesn't have to make perfect sense. Not all images look good shrunk down to 16x16 pixels, so it has to be very readable. A London Underground (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground) logo imitation also won't look good - you won't even be able to fit the letters "NH".
Some white images (like a Guy Fawkes / V for Vendetta mask) also become unrecognizable. Black and gold are obvious colors to use.
But how to identify this site?... Hmmm... How about: (http://www.nhunderground.com/forum/Smileys/classic/mf_farmer.gif)
It's from the emoticons collection, but scaled down in size. It could be edited to look better with this scaling, and to make the pitchfork more prominent.
I may be out of touch (http://freekeene.com/2013/01/05/ridleys-visual-history-of-russell-kanning-arrests/), but this emoticon definitely makes me think of Russell and this forum!

I've told the lie to benefit FSP. And then I couldn't live with the lie, because I am truthful about everything else, and confessed it freely.

You are being insulting for no constructive purpose what-so-ever. People like you are the reason why I'm not in NH. No one in NJ has ever called me a "troll"!
And if you were to analyze the meaning of the word "troll" logically, and look at all of my contributions to libertarian causes over the last 7 years, you would see that I am the polar opposite.

I sometimes sit in Lloyd's chair and feel a little grouchy, but I just can't get that "curmudgeonly feeling" thing down.
I'm not saying Jerry is the equivalent of Lloyd, he has to work on his procrastination. On second thought maybe he's gonna do that tomorrow? Besides as Asst. Curmudgeon Jerry toiled in the shadows so long, he deserves a shot at the job. I figure if Jerry gets the job, maybe he'll pick me over John C. as his assistant.

Refresh the favico.ico URL by pressing F5 or the appropriate browser Refresh (Reload) button
Close the browser and open your website - voila, your favicon has been updated!
