Title: Taproom Tuesdays
Post by: error on May 24, 2007, 12:06 AM NHFT
I'm going to start meeting local people at Murphy's Taproom (http://www.murphystaproom.net/) every Tuesday night around 6:30 pm. Come out and have some good food, good beer and lots of homeland stupidity! ;D

Also every Friday night for Free State Friday from 6:30 pm until close.

494 Elm St. Manchester (http://www.google.com/maps?q=494+Elm+St,+Manchester,+NH+03101,+USA)

Tuesdays are better for people who drink real beer. : ) Murphy's Monday beer special is only on those watery beers - Miller Lite, Bud Light and Bud I think....although they are only $1.50 if I recall.

Tuesday nights has $2 beers - much better.

Half price appetizers either night from 4-7, too.

Taproom Tuesdays?

That sounds good!

Tammy is right that all draft beers are half price($2.00) all day Tuesday.

However, unless Keith has changed the special...the half price appetizers are available from 4-8PM...

Tuesday after next is the GOP debate.  I'll state now that I plan to be in the taproom after the debate ( and after whatever banner waving follows the debate ).

Next Tuesday sounds like the perfect time to drink at Murphy's!

This being on-call deal is no fun.  Count me in for 3 out of 4 Tuesdays/month...

While we were watching the last debate at Murphy's there were about 30 cops eating there(they were having an auto theft seminar in town)...  Some of them were a little spooked by our open carry but Keith set them straight and I did get to talk to a Canadian cop for a few minutes while I was outside...  All in all I think it was a positive experience...  Last night I was in Murphy's for the grand opening and later on in the evening one of the waitresses was telling me about the "guys with guns" from Tuesday...hehe, little did she know I was one of them...hehe...

We were the "guys with guns"...I don't think the cops were armed...especially the Canadians...or the NYC cops...I don't think they are "allowed" to carry off-duty...

Of course, I didn't tell them how many arms I had either...heh, heh...(two visible)...

Awesome.  They were probably spooked a bit, because in some states it is a felony to carry into a bar or anyplace (gas stations, convenience stores) that sells alcohol.
I believe depending on the state, cops are allowed to carry off duty, but again, they prolly thought Murphys wouldn't allow it.  Kudos to any LEO's who respect the property rights of bar owners, even though Murphys allows personal carry.

Had 5 people show up last night for good food, drinks and company.

Next week's going to be much, much larger, as we watch the CNN/WMUR debates at Taproom Tuesday! Join us at 7 pm and watch Ron Paul trounce the other GOP candidates a third time. And rumor has it he'll even be stopping in after the debate!

(On that note, Keith said last night that some people from Mike Huckabee's campaign stopped in and asked to rent out the bar. He said no; it was already reserved for Ron Paul! I wish I'd seen their faces.)

Huckabee's education policies have nothing to do with whether or not they would contact Murphy's for an event....not following what one has to do with the other.

I like Ron Paul for his views on most things.....but I'm far from convinced that he can win. Sorry. :(  That said, I think it is absolutely wonderful that so many of you are working so hard for the guy! I find that NHAC keeps me very busy and it could be a bit of a conflict for me to support any particular candidate - so I'm actually enjoying not having to do the sign waves, the parades, etc. for candidate at this point. :) Look forward to seeing you next weekend at the picnic.

Well he can if people vote for him. A week before the primary, Buchanan was only pollling at 6% yet he won, taking 26% or something like that.

The waitress at the place I was last night kept telling me she'd vote for him if he 'made the cut' yet she failed to understand that he won't make the cut if she doesn't vote for him in the primary!

That's because they were with me, holding signs for Ron Paul at the party over at Arms Park.  ;)

How come you were not there?

Because I was at the Taproom!

I wanted to go soooo bad...unfortunately, I had an American Business Woman's Association meeting and it went waaaaay longer than it was supposed to. Usually our meetings are on Wednesdays though, so it won't be a conflict in the future. I can't wait to go, Murphy's seems like a pretty cool spot.

Sorry to have missed you! We'll see you next week. :)

Tonight we're all going to drink one for Dave Ridley, who has been sentenced to four days in jail (http://newhampshireunderground.com/forum/index.php?topic=7057.315) for not bowing to the federal bureaucrats who wanted him to pay a $125 fine for going into an IRS office and laying a piece of paper on someone's desk. Officially we start around 7 pm, though I'll likely be arriving a bit earlier than that.

Even though it's over an hour each way for me, I should try to make it out for a Taproom Tuesday.  I don't drink much beer, as I don't care for most varieties.  I like some of the sweeter ones, that have less bitterness to them, which are mostly home brews.  My mom made up a batch of home brew that I liked that had a low alcohol content about a month or so ago, but we finished it all within a few hours.  If I go, I'll probably have something other than beer, unless they have some that I like.  It would be nice to meet up with some like-minded friends from time to time, especially if error is teaching something like how to watch feds online.

Theoretically, yes I could have, but in reality, I'm an introvert, and 9 of work means 9 days of lots of interaction with lots of people, with very little time to myself (when I'm not sleeping). By that point I was hardly having conversations with my husband...a group of people at a bar would have driven me over the edge :P

I'd love to come up for a Taproom Tuesday one of these weeks.  The problem is that I don't have a car, so I'm tied to the bus schedules (last bus leaves Manchester at 7:30).  If someone would be willing to let me crash on their couch or get me back to Boston, then I'd love to come up.

Yeah, I find it a bit annoying that the last bus leaves Manchester so early, but the whole schedule is designed for people who travel to Boston and return home to New Hampshire. The reverse commute, not so much.

The REAL last bus (http://www.vermonttransit.com/table62.html) leaves Manchester at 9:50 pm and gets back to Boston at 10:55 pm. It's a Vermont Transit bus. Buy the ticket at the Greyhound counter at South Station; they won't (or can't) sell you one here in Manchester.

Would ya'll take some pictures and post them? I can't make it over and I'd like for folks to see the fun that is had at Tap Room Tuesdays. To include in the month in the free state video I've been asked to produce.

What I need are a couple of shots that represent the evenings fun and look full of people. I interviewed Keith Murphy and he mentioned the get togethers so it would be great to have some shots to cover that. Thanks.

I was planning on being there, but was stuck in the office until 8:30....   :'(

I'm curious about the gratuitous LP bashing, though... as someone who has actually ATTENDED the LP conventions of two of the smallest states in the country in the past two years, both of which had far more than 33 people in attendance, I'd like to know who made that remark, which specific LP conventions they were referring to, and which year they attended it. Getting so very weary of the continuous public, and often completely erroneous, bashing of my political party by my so-called allies in the struggle for greater freedom in New Hampshire.....  :-\

Pop quiz: which well known Ron Paul promoter and self-proclaimed RP campaign manager actually berated a member of the LPNH for having the audacity to put pro-Ron Paul material on an LP table at the Cheshire County Fair?  God forbid the general public see "the wrong kind" promoting Ron Paul....  :P  :P  :P

Taproom Tuesday was absolutely amazing tonight, with a whopping 31 people (plus one small child) in attendance from all over the state.

If you weren't one of them, you truly missed out!

I took some pictures (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nealaus/tags/homeland/), graciously hosted by shyfrog, who took his own pictures as well.

Much planning was done for a new freedom-oriented newspaper for Manchester. Much socializing was done. And we even gained two new Ron Paul supporters, who'd never heard of us, near the end of the night! And much to my surprise, when I arrived at 6:30, some people were already there.

If you've been sitting on the fence, waiting for the right time to jump in, you might find like John (dEadErest) did that now is the time!

Next week we will start at 8:00 pm instead of 7:00 due to a conflicting event scheduled at Murphy's Taproom.

If you are talking about Howard Wilson at the Cheshire Fair, he was never 'berated' for anything. He was simply asked how he got away with promoting Ron Paul at an LPNH table
"Got away with"? Thank you for acknowledging that you did indeed indicate that *some* people shouldn't be trying to promote Ron Paul.

when others were severely berated and trashed for simply having posted one event (no endorsements mind you) on the LPNH mailing list before Paul even filed to run because they foolishly thought some might be interested in hearing the country's #1 libertarian speak? That was such a crime!
What others?  Severely berated by whom?  I honestly don't know who you're referring to, and it seems more honorable to me to name the person whom you are publicly criticizing, both so that that person can defend himself if necessary, and so that the entire LPNH won't be impugned by your vague comments.

Quote
Did the LPNH suddenly decide to come to its senses and endorse Ron Paul? That was the question...
No.  The LPNH, the New Hampshire affiliate of the third largest political party in the U.S., did not suddenly "come to its senses" and decide to endorse someone seeking the primary nomination in a different political party.

Quote
and it was only a question, there was no 'berating' involved.

Not to mention the fact that Howard was generously offered materials for his table, some of which I paid for.

I have a witness.  :P :P :P :P

Please let us know who the witness is.  I have a great deal of respect for Howard, and I find his report of the OPH booth at the Cheshire County Fair very... believable.   :P  If you have someone who can back up your very different side of the story, let us all know who that is.

This is just one event and I have no idea what it's like everywhere, but I went to the most recent LP convention in Atlanta to promote the FSP and I'd say the turnout was about the same as last night at Murphy's. I also left with no interest whatsoever in becoming a member of the LP or continuing to attend events. I became a member in CA actually but didn't renew. I got hardly any acknowledgement that I even existed, much less any encouragement to join and continue to be active. I saw a lot of bickering over whether to enact some of the suggestions of the reform caucus into the platform * to make the LP more into Republican Party Light. One thing in particular stuck with me. When I was putting literature out on the tables, one guy asked if I was there to "defend the FSP". That wording really threw me. "Defend?" I asked. And he said something like "Should we do a free state, a free town, a free county," and he said it with a really condescending tone in his voice clearly expressing his negative opinion toward the idea. I simply said "The Free State Project is happening right now. You're welcome to participate or not." And in my head I was thinking "Just how I'm choosing not to participate in the LP anymore. Good luck with this."

* This is my editorializing

I had a much better time at the LP convention in Los Angeles so obviously they're not all the same. The turnout was definately good there though still not really impressive numbers compared to the FSP as a whole. I think it's kind of "any port in a storm" out there if you know what I mean.

See your original post...if you would like to see an example of anonymous gratuitous insult.

Quote
"Got away with"? Thank you for acknowledging that you did indeed indicate that *some* people shouldn't be trying to promote Ron Paul.

That's utterly ridiculous and I have never said *some* people shouldn't be promoting Ron Paul, and you know it. I have been saying that I don't understand why the LPNH won't endorse Ron Paul (although you have explained it below) and why would its members keep ripping supporters for the fact that many do, the complete opposite. And why someone who merely notified the members of an event was ripped for doing so, to the point that a disclaimer had to be sent out stating that the LPNH does not endorse. (The event was not an endorsement, just a notice of an event)

Quote
What others?  Severely berated by whom?  I honestly don't know who you're referring to, and it seems more honorable to me to name the person whom you are publicly criticizing, both so that that person can defend himself if necessary, and so that the entire LPNH won't be impugned by your vague comments.

You mean like you do when you ask people to 'guess who' you are talking about that did this or that, or, you have a 'pop quiz' question, which you are wont to do?

Wow, pot/kettle.

I am referring to the fact that the LPNH got its knickers in a bunch because I committed the crime of posting the Ron Paul February party to their calendar and also *some* people made a huge issue and point out of making sure they would not be going there... as if it were something to be avoided. No problem. I think it was a success in any case.

I really don't know what the LPNH members have against Ron Paul.... it's rather baffling to me. I was glad to see Howard promoting him, just preparing him for the possible blowback from his compatriots.

Quote
No.  The LPNH, the New Hampshire affiliate of the third largest political party in the U.S., did not suddenly "come to its senses" and decide to endorse someone seeking the primary nomination in a different political party.

That was my whole point and a fair enough explanation that did not warrant the reaction I got. Please note it wasn't John Babiarz or Brendan Kelly who were upset about the posting, just 'some' members, who supposedly complained to another member. In this case I do not know who the complainers were, so I can't tell you names, because they would not tell me. (But believe me I would if I did.)

Quote

Why so you can also badger him too? Not on your life.

If Howard thought he was being berated that's news to me. I was just warning him that he may be chastised severely as I was, and for months later, AD NAUSEUM, for supporting a candidate from 'another party'. I even said I was glad to see that he wasn't having any of this party purity stuff.

In conclusion, you can't go around attacking people and then expect them, after a time, not to get sick of it and speak back about it. Some of us are pretty easy going but after a while of keeping quiet, we do have an eventual boiling point.  A person can only take so much abuse.

:dontknow:

Anyway, I have some good news.. I'm heading out to be picking up a huge shipment of signs in three sizes.....let's get to work plaster the state with Ron Paul!

;)

LOL, no. I am going to 'disengage' now that I have posted my explanation for Friday's outburst and won't be responding to it anymore.

I don't think there is any question in anyone's mind that I would like everyone to support Ron Paul, despite what their 'party' tells them to do and that this is the crux of the matter.

But thanks for the compliment of thinking I could mudwrestle at my age!  ;)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/nealaus/tags/freestate/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nealaus/tags/freestate/)

I'll upload any photos I take of FSP and "related" events to this area.
Save, share, comment on, use in presentations, articles, videos, screensavers, etc.

Just send some love my way (at least until my wife arrives)

You know I typed up a long rant here.

But then remembered my rule against ever getting

But of coarse being me I have to be stupid and post something.

So Hi sandy and Jane, miss seeing you guys.
It's been a while, hope you are enjoying summer in NH.
Hope to see ya's soon.

Shyfrog, I love it...that is great! Great pictures.

That was intense....SO many people came...what was the total count??
I counted 33 at one point... WOW.  Someone made the comment that some LP conventions can't get 33 people there.  33 for basically a few beers... >:D

Actually I forgot who said it.... but it was meant it a good way.
As in .. we could only get 20 people who are liberty minded where I came from but here we can get 30ish people on a Tuesday night who are liberty minded.

* This is my editorializing

I had a much better time at the LP convention in Los Angeles so obviously they're not all the same. The turnout was definately good there though still not really impressive numbers compared to the FSP as a whole. I think it's kind of "any port in a storm" out there if you know what I mean.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at the Atlanta convention.  And I guess I can understand how a first experience being negative might turn a person off of an organization.  However, I'd be curious to know if you had a demonstrably different experience at any other political party's convention?  I've been involved with several not-for-profit organizations, and there has been bickering at every single one (sometimes it goes far beyond bickering to the border of fistfights!).  Believe me, there have been vast amounts of bickering within the FSP, too.

Oil wrestling:  http://youtube.com/watch?v=osw9aGmAZFI (http://youtube.com/watch?v=osw9aGmAZFI)

Heretofore unknown to me, there is also wrestling in ice cream (yummy), hot cream, shaving cream, whipped cream, and who knows what else.

They start out playing volleyball, and then after that it deteriorates into mudwrestling when the game is over.

If anyone wants to join me at Murphy's for dinner tomorrow, I'll be up from Boston for the evening.  I'll be there from around 5:45 to 7:00 or so.  I'm one of the people heading up the Manchester Free Press, so if you want to talk about that I'd love to chat about it; or, just to have dinner with a friendly Porc.  I'll be the guy in the goatee and the bright green shirt reading the philosophy book (I never dine alone; I usually eat with the greatest minds of all time) :)

I posted this elsewhere but thought you ought to see it here too...

One thing to beware of whenever you are with Ron, is those people in the purple shirts.

They are getting really annoying. At my booth in Hudson, she wanted me to hand out her stickers...and she threw them at me. I put them in the box under the table..as I was not about to mix them with Ron issues. They don't explain anything about socialized medicine, just say "I'm a health care voter".

She jumped out at Ron while he was marching in the parade Saturday, and today she tried to slap a sticker on him twice after he took it off! She plunked herself down right next to him at the lunch table but was not going to eat. She stayed there most of the time and tried to slap stickers on all the people walking in the door, which is a big turnoff and made me very angry! These people are bold and annoying. Ron wanted to know who the group was and what was their issue. I told him SOCIALIZED MEDICINE and I don't think he liked that.

I told her she should give up her seat to someone who hasn't had the chance to talk to Dr Paul and is going to actually order lunch....as people were coming in off the streets (thanks to Rob, Dada and Lewicke sign-waving) to meet Ron.

These people are pushing for Socialized Medicine and are dogging the candidates but not telling people what those stickers mean....and some of the supporters don't know either and think it's someone that's part of the campaign so they let her stick them with one.

They are paid annoyances. Don't ask me where they get this kind of money to have these paid armies of people with booths at all these fairs etc...they knew enough to keep out of the CNHT Picnic (although we had other similar annoying groups)

I was ready to call the cops on this one person today...who seems to be EVERYWHERE I go with Ron or at places I'm hosting booths and I'm really getting sick of it....

To me this is harassment....she couldn't even leave him alone while he was eating.

They are mostly elderly people, or 'disabled', and it's only one who is usually assigned to bug you. I figure, once you've seen the candidate and asked him to support your cause, and he answers you, that should be enough!

Today she ate the free cake...but I think she annoyed more than one person who was there...by standing at the door and trying to stick them with the purple triangle as they came in.

I tried to be tactful but...like I say, she drove me NUTS at several other places where this group had a booth near mine.

I'd like to know how they get away with using our tax dollars to bug us for more money like that....geesh.

Just to give people a heads up when with the candidate, or working at a booth for a candidate, is all. This was a woman...the same one I see all the time. I don't know if the others do what she does, but I know she doesn't let up if she's seen you before...it's as if you start all over again with her.

She is intent on plastering everyone at your event with stickers and she does not leave.

Nobody like that has ever shown up at Taproom Tuesday. I think you should show up at Taproom Tuesday, just in case we need someone to chase them away. :)

I doubt they would listen to me. If she bugs me at my booth this weekend, I'm just going to call her org and put in a complaint.

I've been to TT before...did I meet you?  :)

Taproom Tuesday will once again be tomorrow, Tuesday, at 7 pm. And there will be a very special surprise in store for those who attend!

There's going to be a Manchester Free Press (http://newhampshireunderground.com/forum/index.php?topic=9962.0) meeting, and a meeting for this as-yet-unnamed project (http://newhampshireunderground.com/forum/index.php?topic=10211.0) during Taproom Tuesday tomorrow. Will we have to go hide somewhere to get anything done? ;)

Tomorrow is also my birthday.  I will most likely be there for Taproom Tuesday with the family and a chocolate cake to share with those of you who show up.  I haven't had a birthday party in over ten years, and figure that since a bunch of my friends will be in one place, I might as well take advantage of it and have a party.

Title: Re: Taproom Tuesdays
Post by: error on August 22, 2007, 01:29 AM NHFT
Taproom Tuesday was absolutely incredible this week! We had nearly 30 people (plus 3 children!) present. The 3 children were those of Tim Logsdon (Defender of Liberty), who had a birthday today. Also having a birthday today was Christine, who is not on any forums as far as I know, but showed up anyway.

We also spotted the "Ostrich Mobile" passing by and corralled its driver, Evan, a very attractive young woman (who likes Ron Paul) who has been driving cross country to promote Students for Saving Social Security (http://www.secureourfuture.org/) (by privatizing it). She started out in California, and was in Iowa for the straw poll, and now she's moved to the Free State, settling in Concord. Ron Helwig and Bald Eagle got pictures of her hand-painted truck, which I hope they'll post later. We also got a couple of Sam Brownback supporters and one guy from FreedomWorks (http://www.freedomworks.org/) who just happened to show up, not knowing there was anything going on, and one of them was open carrying his Glock 26! They are going to be future Ron Paul supporters, I'm sure.

Also in attendance was LaurieC, who is single-minded in her work on the sex offender registry issues because of some injustice done to her husband. Mike from Nashua, who isn't yet on the forums, also was in attendance, open carrying his Walther. Several other people I don't know and didn't get a chance to talk to were present.

All in all a very exciting evening, and not enough time to pack in all the fun! Next week I will move the official starting time up to 6:30 pm to accommodate people who would like to spend more time out, but need to leave earlier. I don't think this will be a problem for anyone, since you can still show up at 7 (or later) if you want. But people have been showing up as early as 4:30 pm! So the official time will be 6:30 pm to whenever.

Beavis and I were there around 4:30 so we could enjoy half-price appetizers (part of happy hour 4-6pm every day). We just worked on our laptops until people started showing. Murphy's has great wifi.

After going to see Evan's Ostrich-mobile, we saw some odd looking cameras in the intersection in front of Murphy's.  I'm new here -- but they looked different from your standard stoplight camera and were pointed diagonally.

Who put the cameras there? Are they just private security?

If not, I'd like to know who or what is responsible.

Well, I will have to call this little experiment a success! We had a total of 7 people (plus 1 small child) present throughout the night and also made friends with several of the locals who were present at Murphy's.

Two of the seven were open carrying their 1911 pistols. On that note, I should interject here that Keith, the proprietor, is due to appear before a board of local bureaucrats to get permission to expand his business into the back room. One issue that was raised was open carry. This is of course, perfectly legal and fine, except there were two people on Tuesday who apparently were carrying their firearms in unusual ways.

One such person had a small-of-back holster, and someone told Keith that it was unsafe to carry in this manner because it would be too easy to disarm such person and use the gun against them. I didn't see who this was, so I have no idea. Keith suspects, and I agree, that it was someone who normally carries concealed in that position and allowed their gun to become visible by removing their jacket. If this is you, please be aware of your surroundings and the manner in which you're carrying.

The other person had their pistol visible in front, for which Keith got a complaint that the carry position gave the perception of someone looking for trouble, rather than a responsible gun owner. Please be aware that bureaucrats are watching Keith's business and while we all agree they shouldn't have any business telling anybody how to run their business, they presently do, and they aren't going to be particularly thrilled with anything that reminds them of the previous occupant of that building.

I just want to personally say that carrying a firearm is not simply a right, but also a responsibility. In fact, it's the ultimate responsibility. You're carrying the power of death on your hip. Most of you know this already and have the proper respect for that power. In addition, there is the perception which your manner of carry conveys to people around you. While this really shouldn't matter, and in an ideal world would not, we aren't there yet, and so I would suggest that you be careful with the manner in which you carry.

On to more pleasant news of the first Free State Friday (or whatever better name someone can come up with). As I said, seven people showed up, not all at the same time (as usual) and as far as I could tell everyone had a good time. Though it seemed that just after someone left, the next people arrived. I despair of getting everyone to the same place at the same time, but that's all right; this is still all experimental for now, and besides, you can't herd cats.

Quantrill failed to completely embarrass himself, except at the dart board. Dave Ridley showed and talked to us for a while about a wide variety of things, and even roped in one of Quantrill's former coworkers who just happened to be there.

I spoke to several people who were there having dinner, some of whom were enthusiastic gun owners, about guns and open carry. One of the women in that group said that she felt safer there because I was open carrying.

And later, after everyone else had left, I got to talking to two young women who, it turned out, were Ron Paul supporters, but had never gotten plugged into the existing activist networks, and didn't even know what if anything was going on. So I invited them to Taproom Tuesday and to check the Meetup group.

All in all it was an exciting evening, even without the crowds of Tuesdays late.

Thanks for the invite tonight and for the update. Free State Friday sounds fun  :D

I also appreciate your willingness to post your thoughts about the optimal ways to open carry and how open carry could impact murphy's. The last thing any of us wants to do is put murphy's at risk.  I am glad to have read this well thought out post and when or if I ever open carry I will consider and heed your suggestions.

The specials were indeed special!

Tonight's Taproom Tuesday had nearly 30 freedom lovers in attendance, including a couple of off-duty police officers who were open carrying their sidearms and are quite supportive of the freedom movement in general. I think I spent half the evening talking to them, and I am really not one to spend much time with cops! Many of the usual suspects (pun intended) were also present.

Be aware that those of us not going to the GOP debate at UNH Durham will be back at Murphy's tomorrow night where we will watch the debate on the big TV screens. I plan to show up around 7 pm, though the debate doesn't start until 9.

And if you won't be there, then I'll see you all on Friday!

One of them is an active member of LEAP who has been telling the legislature how stupid the drug laws are. Apparently this message has more impact when it comes from current police officers as opposed to former police officers.

He has also been giving advice on how to assert your rights during encounters with police officers.

Whether he will quit, I don't know. I imagine you should ask him that yourself. :)

Tonight's Taproom Tuesday had nearly 30 freedom lovers in attendance, including a couple of off-duty police officers who were open carrying their sidearms and are quite supportive of the freedom movement in general.
so are they going to do something about it ... like quit?

One of them is an active member of LEAP who has been telling the legislature how stupid the drug laws are. Apparently this message has more impact when it comes from current police officers as opposed to former police officers.

He may have been joking, but he mentioned that he makes the most pot arrests in his squad . . . .  So he opposes immoral laws, but is very willing to enforce them?  Again, he might have been joking, and I would have questioned him more on that in person if I hadn't been running to catch my bus (which showed up 45 minutes late . . . friggin' Vermont Trails).

Indeed. It's a difficult position to be in. This is part of why I long ago gave up any aspirations of ever working in law enforcement. (Hey, I was a stupid college student...)

Just a reminder, if you can stand being poked and prodded by the TSA, you can get frequent flyer miles (http://www.united.com/dining) for eating and drinking at Murphy's Taproom. Which I have apparently been doing a LOT of:

Updated   9/4/2007
Current Redeemable Miles Balance   5,442

I have an idea for a project brewing and a few of you whose past lives were in government, military and law enforcement might be able to help. If you can make it out this afternoon, please come and chat with me about it. Or find me Tuesday. Thanks!

The second Free State Friday was another success, with 9 people in total, including the venerable Don Gorman!

One thing I have noticed though is that 5 pm is much too early, so we'll start next Friday at 6:30, same as Taproom Tuesday, and go until everyone's cashed out.

See you all on Tuesday!

Lloyd will be doing a 50/50 raffle for the Liberty Scholarship Fund at TT tonight.  He will also have Atlases, Beer Rings and a couple of different toys to sell to raise funds.     He will continue to refer to himself in the 3rd person.
As a personal note to wives, please lighten up and let your spouses hold a few more bucks on their person for the occasional good cause.

Thanks, Dave! I posted it here (http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/viewtopic.php?p=121342#121342), where one member has been arguing that open carry is so rare in cities that we can't claim that gun snatches are not a real threat.

I found Jim's shirt to be ironic. Little did he know that in just a few hours, he'd be needing a "FREE LAUREN CANARIO" shirt.  :-\

It was great to see so many faces; some I've met, others I know know from the forums, but I'm ready to be HOME with my FAMILY of Free Staters!

i agree
and thank you...on the other hand andy doesn't have a URL and this is what my commercials look like when I only spend four minutes shooting them.  nowhere to go but up right?

but keep the feedback coming
now i've shot a silly commercial, a sort of silly one...and need to shoot one serious commercial.

I think you need to ask the baby's mother, not us :)

Murphy's is a nonsmoking establishment (and was voluntarily so before the ban).
I've seen infants at Murphy's several times  --most notably, the son of Manchester's most liberty-loving State Representative.
I've brought my 3-year-old to Murphy's plenty of times and would have no hesitation about bringing a child even younger.

Taproom Tuesday is one of our largest social events and it happens 50 Tuesdays a year. You're going to find dozens of people who are not only open carrying, but plotting how to restore some of the liberty this state and this country have lost. And even if you don't do any plotting, you're sure to have a good time.

I think the NEshooters crowd are planning to come up on the 16th.
