as it is, it looks like home school is our only option. im all for home schooling, i just also wanted my child to be able to have somewhat of a school experience. there a ton of christian schools around, but even though i myself am a christian, i'd rather my child go to a religiously neutral private school - these schools don't seen to exist, at least around here!

The prep schools are pretty good, but extremely expensive. They are nominally Episcopal.

In the Keene area, there is a Waldorf school and a montessori school. What area are you looking in? Did you find a link somewhere for private schools in NH? There's one in Epsom that's either waldorf or montessori, Pathfinders.

So, there are some, but more would certainly be better.

This is a chicken and egg problem.  We need school choice, then you'll see more private schools pop up.

A good start would be to exempt primary and secondary educational businesses from the business income and enterprise taxes, in the interests of "cherishing education."

there actually is a very good school in south berwick, me, my home town. tuition is pretty high, though. we're thinking maybe home schooling until middle or high school and just saving up money in the meantime. it really would be helpful if our money wasn't forcably taken to fund government schools.

Here are a few good private schools that I know of in NH they range in price from $4500 per year up to some people's annual salary per year.

Green Valley, Pembroke    NH    http://www.greenvalleyschool.com/

Mt. St Mary's,  Manchester NH    http://www.mtstmary.org/    (catholic but not associated with the Manchester Diocese --children of all faiths even of no faith attend)

Pine Hill,  Wilton NH    http://www.pinehill.org/

The Derryfield School, Manchester NH  http://www.derryfield.org/

Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter NH http://www.exeter.edu/

Shaker Road School, Concord NH http://shakerroad.pvt.k12.nh.us/index.htm

and this cool charter school just opened. No tuition for NH students, but if your child or children attend a NH charter school it will mean a lot of fundraising/donations b/c they receive a small per student allocation from the state.

Academy of Science and Design Merrimack, NH http://www.asdnh.org/

Good Luck with your search.

I'm trying to compile a list of private schools in NH.  Up to now I have this:
