Know what would be really cool?  If Ron Paul gets elected and we all sit back and watch all this action from far, far, away -- completely detached.   ;D

You know what I think is funny about this....if Iran does keep up it's Nuc Program and obtains nuclear power, they will be a thousand times more dangerous than Iraq ever was. HA! What a laugh. Spend years, money you don't have and more troops than you can part with on some phony war only to be completely ruined when you find yourself REALLY needing some protection from a real "mad man".

Ugh. It's so maddening. Just let the collapse come....they are just keeping up this "feed the war machine" bullshit...I wish they'd just let us collapse, because we're going to anyway...why do we put this off? The way our country acts puts us in more danger. Iraq didn't scare me, Iran doesn't scare me.....what does scare me just a *tad* is Iran, China and Russia deciding to stop pretending we're hot shit and tell us to "knock it off". I don't like that China...not one little bit. They are the ones, in all of this, who give me the shivers.

My grandfather said back in the 40's up to now that it's China we have to really worry about.  China gives me the shivers too.  Sometimes I'll go into mental panic mode over a possible confrontation with Russia and China but then I stop and think of how the Iraqi's live with this fear everyday, every minute because of the phony war the US govt. started with them and then I think why are my kids any more special than the Iraqi's children that are getting their legs blown off, etc. everyday, not that I want this happening to my kids of course.  I just don't want any of this crap to be happening to anyone, (I know you don't either Ratty), and I wish people could just love and enjoy this beautiful world we've been given.
It would be so nice if there were no evil, rotten people in this world.

Some say it's human nature....some say it's what we've turned ourselves into....I don't know what it is, this violence, but I think it's always been here. I think the reason things have become so alarming is that the whole world is super sized now....bigger gov'ts, bigger guns, bigger money backing bigger war criminals, bigger distances between you and the people you are killing, larger amounts of people...ugh. It seems so huge, it is so huge...it feels so out of control. I feel shame, sometimes, guilt at not living in a place where a bomb could drop and kill my family at any second. But then I realize that I can't feel that shame, I don't drop those bombs and I openly appose those who do. I try to spread messages of peace. I did not choose a wonderful life filled with food and safety, I was born into it and I'm honestly doing what I think is my part to make the world a more positive place. That's all we can do.

I too, wish that the world could just stop, maybe even just for a day. It sounds so juvenile....but how awesome would it be if there were a "For Pete's Sake Stop The Violence" day....and for one day, every gun was put down and every person somehow magically had a joint and a five course meal to share with their family. I wonder if something like that, a taste of a more simple and violence free life, would push people to want to live that way all the time? What would happen if for one day, everyone could be free, to relax, to look around at the world a little bit, maybe to magically teleport to the place in the world they've always wanted to see, I don't know...would that change people's perspective? Maybe it would show people there is more out there? But....probably not. So long as there is hunger, desperation, power, money to be made in sex slave trade and huge amounts of drugs....we will be like this. Animals, ripping at each others throats. It's sad, when you look at the world...it's sad. But, it's also easy for me, standing on the side of the road at a sign wave for Phil, to look at a rainbow in the sky, a perfect rainbow, and think to myself..."why can't everyone just enjoy this beautiful world" - that's something I take for granted, the liesure time, the not having to look over my shoulder, the hot meal waiting in my crock pot....all of these things I take for granted, they make it possible for me to sit and look at the sky and wonder silly thoughts. I guess when you've got 10 crying, sick kids in a hut, no possible way to feed them, no way of knowing whether your husband will return from trying to find food and violent tribal aggressors who want to take your patch of land coming with god knows how many people and machetes to do god knows what to you and your daughters....there isn't a lot of time for rainbows. I can't image the fear that so many people face every day. Is their a point past fear...where you just feel helpless resignation to the fact that you are not in control of your life and what happens to you and your family...I don't know, I hope to never know, it's selfish but true.

And that is why we must fight for freedom. Not because we need it as bad as them, but because there isn't a lot you and I can really do for those people...the evils we fight are much less sinister and frightening than those genocide and mass rape bringing war mongers....but they are just as real to us. Maybe we can't save the worlds sick, and persecuted...but maybe it's something, just...something, that somewhere in the world, someone is standing up to an oppressor....because, while victims of oppression are all so different; some dying, some being pulled over by cops and tased for no reason, some being kicked out of their homeland with nowhere to go....the oppressors are all the same...they share the same sickness.

Well I certainly agree -- but the middle east has been at war for thousands of years, I don't see it stopping, well, ever.

Ratty,

I have a lot of the same thoughts that you do but you have a powerful gift of putting the feeling in your words!  When I start feeling other's pains and anguishes it drives me to the brink of insanity; that's when I must roll, smoke and dream because my heart and brain just can't stand to feel "it" anymore.
One random act of kindness can't change the world but it can change someone else's world, that's what I like to try to do. :)

What if enough people put out love and kindness vibrations "out there", could it change all of this madness?  I don't know but in a non-material way I do believe in the law of attraction and I've experienced how it works so I wonder if on a huge scale it could change things?  What do you think? :-\

And that is basically it....I hate to say this, I hate to speak doom....but for a lot of these people, warring has been a way of life, a fact of life, for longer than anyone can remember. It is in their blood, I guess...but yes, they have been sick with war in that region for longer than folks have been recording the history of such things.

I strongly feel its going to take hearts and hands to end the madness; positive thought/action will  add to the momentum and make it easier for those that follow.

IME, my reality has shifted drastically since I set forth on the path of self-growth. Just by changing my perspective my quality of life has improved even though there has been less visible change in the external world.

Worth the effort; what do we have to lose?

Thanks EJ + back at you  :)

Isn't it amazing how when you change your perspective almost everything around you changes!  I still have my "dark, gloomy days" but I try real hard not to take it out on anyone anymore.  When somethings is bothering or hurting me I have a tendency to withdraw big time and need to be all alone until I work it out.

In the past if I went out and was in a bad mood I would run into tons of ignorant people and if I was in a good mood I would run into nice people.  I totally believe we draw a lot of "stuff" to ourselves through our postive/negative energy that we project.  I'm not talking about the horrible things that happen to people, like a little kid getting hurt by an asshole or something, that stuff I honestly have no idea why it happens.

One thing that bugs me is when I hear about stories like this one:  A friend of mine was in the store and she saw this lady smack her kid's butt and this other lady goes over to her and says, "that's child abuse you know, I could report you."   ::)  For god's sake why don't people offer the mother a helping hand if she's having a shitty day and her kid's not listening, why attack her?  To me a smack on the butt is not child abuse even though I don't like seeing little kids being hit.

I'm probably getting off track here but your right there is nothing to lose! :)
