Hi all, real id is coming to New York and I refuse to be a part of it. Which means I will be driving with an expired license next year and might at some point be arrested. What I want to know if being arrested for driving with an expired liscense in NY will affect my ability to get a gun when I come to NH. If so I rather just take car service, etc then risk it. Thank you

Doesn't it have to be a felony arrest to effect gun ownership?

There are some non-felonies that result in you not being able to buy a gun from a dealer, but I don't think driving without a license is one of them.

Yeah, sorry, I was being too quick.  There are certain "domestic violence" crimes and such which also have an effect.

Also of note is that it needs to be a conviction to legally restrict ownership.  However, being under a felony indictment precludes you from purchasing a firearm, even though it does not restrict ownership or carry.

What exactly is the law in NH for buying/owning/carrying please?

For exact, you'd need to read the statutes.
For a quick breakdown, as long as you're a non-felon (and not under a felony indictment or subject to a comestic violence restraining order) over 18, you can buy from a private seller as long as he "knows" you.  No definition of that, so it pretty much just means that he has identified you in some manner, and I expect that photo ID, or being introduced by someone who knows each of you, or somesuch.  Of course, it would never actually come up unless you needed to prove something in court...

Purchase from dealers is subject to the standard Federal restrictions.

There are no real restrictions on ownership, other than the standard stuff (felon, domestic violence, as above).

Open carry is legal, although some folks get harassed.  Concealed carry - or carry in a vehicle - requires a license.  The license application is a single page, no photos or fingerprints are taken.  If a resident, you make the application with your local police.  The fee is $10, and they have 20 days to either approve or deny the application.  If they deny it, they must demonstrate cause (eg, they found a felony conviction on your record).

There is no restriction on minimum age for carry in NH, either, so long as the child has parental permission.

That's the basics, anyway.

See RSA 159. In particular, RSA 159:6 covers concealed-carry licenses.

They have only fourteen days, and RSA 159:6-f allows you to take them to court if they go past the deadline.
