It might be one of those situations where they want the house moved off the lot. Sounds like they want to keep the appliances and fixtures.

It's a cute little house.

I've heard of houses being relocated.

This is the first time I've ever heard of someone wanting someone else to take the house.

Eh, to each his own.

Maybe it'll be easier than tearing it down and clearing the site.

Even if it's the buyer's responsibility to move the house?

I've known a number of move the house cases. In each case the purchaser had to pay the moving costs.

One was a small house in an up and coming urban area. It was owned by an elderly couple and the taxes had sharply risen as property values rose. They decided to leave the city and move to a smaller town. The purchasers were of course going to raze the house. They worked out an agreement that the sellers would move the house and keep it. They were very happy to have their house and a lot in a small town and a large chunk of money as well.

There was a web site talked about in the message boards of OldHouseWeb.net a while back in which people looking to knock down old buildings and houses could post them there for people who may wanted them.  The key is you pay to move it.  In many cases this works out cheaper for the person looking to knock the house down since they pay nothing.  Everyone wins.

I want to say the site in question was something like housesforadollar.com or housesforabuck.com... can't remember off the top of my head.

Our local free trading paper always has an ad or two for a free house to be torn down or moved. I took on a project of tearing one down once for the lumber, but had to give it up. I just couldn't pull it off as a one-man job.
