Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer tells DHS to "Go to Hell" on NPR's All Things Considered.  This one gave me the warm fuzzies.

At the end of this clip, it gets real interesting.  The Montana governor is heard saying that nothing will really happen on May 11, it is just a bluff by the federal gov't, you will still be able to board a commercial flight with a Montana ID.  Then the broadcaster goes on to state that NPR received a letter from DHS saying that showing up at the airport on May 11 with only a Montana ID will be no better than showing up without any ID.

I guess we don't have long to find out who is full of shit about this one.  I'm willing to bet they are both feeding us half truths: Right now, you can get on a domestic commercial flight without any ID; you just get subjected to a thorough search.  Been there, done that.  I could have been on a no fly list for all they knew! ;D  So I am betting that the DHS is just being a bit crafty with their hot air: They stopped short of stating that you will not be able to board a flight with a Montana ID; most people are not aware of the fact that you can actually board without any ID at all, and gov't-sponsored NPR is not about to tell them! >:D

I've heard that the pat-down search actually takes less time than the regular screening process.  Was it a quick search in your case?

I don't know about taking less time, but it was fast enough.  Only a minor hassle timewise, probably about five or six minutes.  It mostly involves the time it takes them to search all of your carry on luggage.
