I've heard the same.  I've also heard the Reason (and Cato) folks derisively referred to as "beltway libertarians".  I'm not really plugged into the L/libertarian political scene, so this term is somewhat new to me.  Apparently a lot of "actual" libertarians think that Reason and Cato folks are essentially neocons with a more liberal civil libertarian bent.  Here's an interesting (albeit a bit long) article talking about this kind of stuff:

I wouldn't include Reason in the "Beltway "libertarians"" category, I've heard of that term for awhile now. Reason Mag and foundation ARE libertarian, not just secret neo-cons. I don't know about the Cato Institute though. There is way too much hero worship going on with Paul and there are several things about his platform I strongly disagree with, mostly the immigration aspect. He is not the perfect libertarian but he is one hell of a lot better than the other candidates. I don't buy the racism charges, it smacks of shit smearing of politics.

I'm surprised that even a minor amount of constructive criticism from someone who generally is very supportive elicits such an aggressive responses- in this case to suggest black-listing all of Dave's videos for it. That's not completely true. I expected it this time.

Charges of heresy are more often directed at believers who have strayed even slightly, than those who are complete outsiders.

I'm pretty ticked at those who keep commenting on your videos that are unrelated to RP, warning everyone about how you "slammed" Ron Paul.
