A way to recruit disillusioned inactive Free Staters

I've sent the message below to some of the people who registered for the FSP forums in May 03 but didn't become extremely active.
If they had more than 4 posts, less than 500 and a listed e-mail... I sent this to them via their email.   There were about 13 people who fell into this category.

I may do more, and will keep you posted on this thread.  Feel free to do the same.

Dear much-missed Free Stater...

I'm writing you because I spotted your e-mail address at forum.FreeStateProject.org
and because got the impression you've ended your active involvement there.  A
lot of people have been disillusioned by the direction the FSP's bosses have taken,
but fortunately the freedom fight in New Hampshire has taken on a life far beyond
their control.

Liberty activism is beginning to explode here in-state, and I thought you might
like to take a quick look at what's
happening.

Consider this an invite to Ground Zero:

www.NHfree.com

That's where our Gandhi-style revolution is taking shape and earning national attention.

But even with the many successes we now have under our belts, we still need more
liberty activists like you here in-state.  If you've become disillusioned in the
past with the Free State Project or lost interest for some reason, I hope you will
take a new look at the constructive craziness that's happening in New Hampshire
and still consider moving here.   Whether you can physically be here or not, we'll
certainly welcome your presence and input at NHfree.com.  It's now the most active
web forum in New Hampshire.  Look forward to seeing you back in action.

I received one response so far from the 13 people I mass mailed.   He expressed a desire to help from alaska despite being unable to move. So I sent him this:

----

Chad:  Thanks for the note.  You bet there are other ways you can help if you like! Here are a few you can pick from:

1) Register at NHfree.com and participate in the discussion boards there.  In the process you'll see many things we're doing which a person in alaska could easily help with.

2) Two free staters have already gone to jail briefly and 3 others arrested in acts of civil disobedience (mostly in New Hampshire) .  They and those who follow could use your help getting the word out about what they've done.  This can be done simply by frequenting

http://forum.freestateproject.org/index.php?topic=804.0

then scrolling to the end of the thread and forwarding the latest press releases to media of your choice.

3)  If you really like something that one of our people has done (after reading a media article about them), you can always send them some money to help cover their costs!  Direct aid in action!   I've sent 100 bucks to the outlaw manicurist and 80 bucks to the Unidentified Flying Objector.

4) If you're really serious you could always do an act of civil disobedience yourself and say you were inspired by the New Hampshire stuff...that will generate some coverage in New Hampshire and perhaps nationally, not just in Alaska.   This is what a couple of our guys in KY are doing.  I hate to suggest it since I haven't done one myself but it does come to mind as an option for the ballsy.

You can also mention to these people, that -- even if they're not able to move, they can donate money to various liberty oriented organizations. Like THe Liberty Scholorship Fund. (Or their's actually a Christian School scholorship fund to.) or NHLA, or other things.

If the NHLP had the budget of a small LP party in California, they'd work wonders for instance.

There's a Christian School scholarship fund?  ???

tracysaboe

Yes.

I just don't remember it's exact name.

But it helps to provide scholarships to kids to want to go to private Christian schools instead of Public schools. I think Christian is pretty broad too. Like it helps people get into Catholic, Lutheran, Assembly of God, Non-demoninational, whatever.

I think GetTheKidsOut is the Christian fund. They have an NH chapter I think.

I've rejoined the FSP-DFW group, sent out a message, but so far nobody's biting.

I e-mailed Lauren - but haven't heard back. She's a substitute teacher in Garland, the last I heard.

Her and Gaby would be great to have up in NH, especially gaby ahhhh. heh

BTW I actually received two responses total out of the 13 I emailed; both positive.  that's an acceptable response rate for the effort I suspect.

Hey Joey.... I know one of the guys in DFW area.... send me you personal email to dreepa at yahoo  and I will make sure he contacts you.

I'm not in the DFW group; I haven't been to DFW since 2000 or so, and with my schedule, it's not likely that I could make a meeting. I'm in Texarkana, though, so any ArkLaTex folks are welcome to contact me for a get-together.

Arkansas is home, and I belonged to the Arkansas group until it imploded. Mary is from Shreveport, so we have many friends and family there. My co-workers with whom I discuss politics know my plan to move to NH, and why. Even before the FSP, I had a reputation as a libertarian, so no one is surprised.

My sister is (was) a Clinton-loving Democrat, despite owning a business with 100+ employees and dealing with all the hassle of government. She has a beautiful old home on 20 acres, and there's a bright yellow ribbon of survey ribbon around the oak tree in her front yard: the centerline of the future I-49. The route was chosen by politicians, not engineers.

I might turn her into a libertarian yet.

I've sent the note above to another 15 people, the ones who registered between approx June 1 and 20,  2003 on the FSP forums

2 of 13 replies of an unsolicited email is an excellent return...

Hell, spammers would love to have one in 1000 reply to them...
