Well a real Frankenstein would just
use his forhead to rack the slide.

Good thread. Very informative. I plan on purchasing my first handgun soon. I am going to the gun show in Manchester in January to see which feels the best.

You can rack the slide using your holster, if it's rigid, or the heel of your shoe. Or a rigid corner, like the edge of a desk or table or the outside corner of a wall, if it's available.

I just use my teeth.

And here I thought only having three teeth was because you're from Arkansas.

(I can say that since I'm from Arkansas.  ;D )

I am not a fan of .357 ammo  in small frame revolvers, or even into large frame revolvers for personal protection. I have in the past owned .357 K frame S&W revolvers, but I carried them with .38 special +P JHP ammo which I found to be a good trade off between lethality and control. You may get the first round off OK but getting the target back in the sights for the second shot is a real bitch with .357 loads in a revolver IMHO

Now with that being said, .357Sig chambered semi automatics are a real nice round, and if you buy a GLOCK in either .40S&W or .357Sig, for about 110 bucks you buy the other caliber barrel and you have 2 of the better rounds out there right now. Just drop in the barrel and reload the magazines and off you go.

I am also a fan of 9mm, because that ammo is readily available, as is the .40S&W

I would have no problem suggesting a compact or subcompact GLOCK, or the Smith & Wesson M&P 9 or .40 to anyone.

Thanks for the tips, neggy. I'll look into it.
