a message from Anne Miller at New Hampshire Peace Action:

Hi Friends, sorry for the short notice but here's some information about Bill Moyers' program this evening, which focuses on Afghanistan. There will also be an opportunity to blog and join the online conversation.

Tonight, Friday, on the JOURNAL, Bill Moyers hosts a fascinating conversation on bombing - it's history and current use - with a historian and a former Pentagon official to see how well it works and has worked in the past. I know you and your members will want to tune in, and on the Moyers Blog - www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/blog we'll be hosting a conversation on the pursuit of a larger military strategy in Afghanistan.

Bill Moyers Journal

Friday, January 30, 2009 on PBS (check local listings http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/about/airdates.html )

On the heels of the American drone attacks on suspected terrorist compounds in Pakistan, Bill Moyers Journal takes a closer look at America's history of and current policy on bombing, explores the ethics behind these assaults when civilians become the victims and asks: Does bombing work? Bill Moyers sits down with historian Marilyn B. Young, co-editor of the forthcoming BOMBING CIVILIANS: A TWENTIETH CENTURY HISTORY and former Pentagon official Pierre Sprey, who developed military airplanes and helped found the military reform movement.
