ACONIA, N.H. (AP) - The proposed shutdown of the Lakes Region Facility prison in Laconia (New Hampshire) would mean that its 350 inmates would be placed in prisons in either Concord or Berlin, while others may be eligible for parole or home confinement. Gov. John Lynch recommended closing the prison by July 1 as part of his budget proposal. The Corrections Department says some of the prison's 90 employees may be transferred to other positions in the correctional system, but there will most certainly be layoffs.

I would estimate that to be about 20 guards per shift (4 shifts?) and 10 administrative/service personnel.

Don't forget food service, mechanical/maintenance, recreation, education, and medical. Then for everyone that's left, only 5/7ths work on a given day, then divide by three or four primary shifts per day.

sounds about right to me ... we used to calculate how many it takes per max inmate hehehe
