Here goes another run on overpriced weapons.  Those dealers will be able to retire on all the money the government is making for them.

I saw that.  I wonder if the run will be as large this time, since there was such a run last time.  Everyone I know stocked up last time and in the past six months, expecting this.

My local gun store owner owes you a thanks, Lloyd.

Four hours after reading your post, I'm back home with a new AR-15.

I'm not sure what's worse here...

They're banning guns. Bad move.

But even the REASON they claim to ban them is sick. It's all about Mexico! We need to help the Mexican government stop the Mexican PEOPLE from revolting, which they are, right now, because the god damn Mexican government has drug prohibitions in place, driving drugs to the violence laden black market.

Rather than saying "Snap, Americans become more FREE after THEIR revolution..." the government people say "OMG, one prohibition is shaking the foothold of a government, let's make a new prohibition!"

Did all government people ride the short bus?

The Virginia Citizens Defense League claims to have already been told by Nancy Pelosi that it's got a snowballs chance in hell of happening.

"The President can desire to do something like reinstate the AWB all he wants, but he can't do so without Congress passing a bill to that effect and getting it to the President's desk."

The VCDL says "Nancy Pelosi is running away from passing an AWB, saying that all we need to do is enforce current law."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tossed cold water on the prospect of reinstating the assault weapons ban, highlighting Democrats' reluctance to take on gun issues.

Attorney General Eric Holder raised the prospect Wednesday that the administration would push to bring back the ban. But Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicated on Thursday that he never talked to her. The Speaker gave a flat "no" when asked if she had talked to administration officials about the ban.

"On that score, I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now," Pelosi said at her weekly news conference. "I think it's clear the Bush administration didn't do that."

Outside of the dig at the recent Republican president, that phrase is the stock line of those who don't want to pass new gun control laws, such as the National Rifle Association.

The White House declined to comment on Holder's remarks, referring reporters to the Department of Justice. The DoJ did not respond to The Hill's request for comment.

I think there's a very real power struggle that's even surpassing partisan lines. Put simply, The Obama opens his mouth, makes proclamations and a large chunk of the American people think it's law.

Senate and the House are probably getting sick of this. You know, I'm curious now what happened to the morale of "people in power" shortly after HItler was appointed Dick Tater...

As part of its vote to grant the District of Columbia a vote in Congress, the Senate also approved giving the capital's residents far greater access to firearms, including semiautomatic weapons. The 62-36 vote comes eight months after the Supreme Court narrowly ruled that the district's 32-year ban on handgun possession violated the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

The measure now must be reconciled with the House.

The legislation's sponsor, Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., said the district "has attempted to subvert what the Supreme Court did by putting very burdensome types of laws to make it more and more difficult for district residents to own a gun to be able to protect themselves in their own homes."

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., who has fought for a ban on assault weapons, denounced the move.

"I believe it will lead to more weapons and more violence on the streets of the nation's capital. It will endanger the citizens of the district and government employees who work here, our elected officials and those who visit this great American capital," she said.

Feinstein called it a "first new step" by the pro-gun lobby "to remove all commonsense gun regulations" from the country. "How deep have we sunk in catering to these interests. For shame."

Today's vote came a day after Attorney General Eric Holder raised the possibility that the Obama administration would push to bring back the ban on assault weapons. But Feinstein's San Francisco neighbor, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, shot down that notion today, The Hill reports.

"On that score, I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now," the Democratic leader said at her weekly news conference. "I think it's clear the Bush administration didn't do that."

I absolutely trust Nancy Pelosi: I trust her to do whatever she can to keep herself and her party in power.

I do believe she's afraid of the fallout from any new gun control bills, because she knows that the Democrats are only in the majority because they managed to run enough pro-gun candidates.
