What the heck is live thumb scanning anyway?

I had to go down to Hazen Drive, (I guess that's the police barracks or something), last week to get thumb scanned to be able to get my LNA license.   

I was sick too so I didn't really look it up online before going but a couple of days after the fact I did look it up and I still don't understand it.   I asked the cop if I was in a centralized dna database and he looked at me really weird and said, no.   What exactly did I allow myself to do here?

It's like a fingerprint, only it's a digital image of your thumbprint.  Nothing to be too concerned about.  If they ask you to receive a laser tattoo on your right hand or forehead, I recommend that you tell them "NO" and find another job.

I've met several people that claim to have such a tattoo, specifically on their right index finger, and that it allows them to accuse people for money.

Oh wow, they actually have laser tattoos that you have to get for jobs?  Creepy!   How could having a tattoo on their right index finger allow them to accuse people for money?

Not that I'm aware of, yet.

I imagine it has something to do with tracking recordings from hidden microphones or something to do with "deputization".  One of my Aunts has one, but we don't talk much.  It may be a Kalifornia thing, or a Fed thing.  I don't know, don't really want to find out.
