Liberty movie: Valkyrie

I watched the film Valkyrie this weekend. It stars Tom Cruise and is about the German resistance that attempted to assassinate Hitler during WW2.

While they obviously failed it is a rather poignant film that made me feel similar to what we are doing. Not the assassination part but the aspects of people loving Hitler and the brave few who saw the monster he was and stood against him.

The way that people called them traitors and such is rather interesting. History however remembers them as brave patriots that died for the cause of (relative) liberty.

Anyway, check it out.

That does give you a good perspective on history and names, doesn't it?

The movie was well-done, my only complaint is that you really know how its going to end before it starts.

It was an excellent movie.  Personally, I don't care if people remember me as a terrorist or a patriot, as long as the cause of freedom is served.

Hitler makes an excellent demonic figurehead, but he doesn't parallel well with Obama.  Hitler was a lot smarter and masterminded much of the Third Reich.  Obama is a puppet; its his socialistic masters we must concern ourselves with.  Obama's departure (2012=hope, 2016=ouch) from the stage won't mean much unless the people pulling his strings lose their power as well.

And I don't think its fair to compare America's big government socialists with the Nazis.  The Nazis had better outfits.

the best part of that movie is when he angrilly saluted to his superior . . . I got a lot of looks because I cracked up at it.

There was one anti-Hitler plot that almost worked:

(of course it wasn't by any of the supposedly anti-Hitler governments...)

Obviously America is not Nazi Germany...yet. It's just a gleaning parallel of sorts.

I also loved the salute scene Anton.

Cool :)  I put it on our blockbuster queue.
