Tony is getting continuous 'Blue Screen'  on his laptop.  None of our local geeks are up yet. Any suggestions?

Download Ubuntu on another computer, burn it to CD, install it on the laptop - repartitioning to do this - save any wanted files from MS partition to Linux partition, repartition all as Linux disk. ;D

You probably need to repair windows.  especially if it just boots and the reboots over and over again.  You can boot into command prompt and then repair the windows installation from there.  it might work.  it might not.  worst case you should probably sled the drive and grab data off of it then either format and start from scratch or depending on the state of the drive (damaged?) potentially buy a new one.  seagate is what i would reccomend as they are reliable and cheap.  500gb laptop drive was under 100$ last i checked and that was a couple months back so possibly less now.

It runs for a while before crashing.  It crashes in safe mode.  Tony said something about the problem starting after viewing porn site with Lllloyd.  :o  I'm trying to run virus scan, but haven't been able to get all the way thru it.    Does XP Professional usually have a bunch of locked files?

An old laptop did this to me for a while. As weird as it is, it seemed to be related to one of the two ram ports where memory was plugged into. It seemed to crash if the RAM stick shifted ever so slightly in it.

The Windows XP install disk can repair an installation. You lose some system settings but data remains intact.

I'd strongly suggest Linux as a replacement since Windows XP is a bitch to deal with. I'm also enjoying Windows 7 quite a bit.

BSODs are almost always caused by crappy drivers, in my experience.

Kevin Dean! You really shouldn't call Tony a crappy driver! Just because he was at the keyboard at the time it happened doesn't mean it's his fault!

+1 Karma. That made me laugh out loud (I'm typing the full thing out to let you know I REALLY did.)
